BEATRICE YOUNG WINS BIG AT THE GRAMMYS
It’s just one of those nights that singer, songwriter, producer, director and philanthropist Beatrice Young adds to her collection of recognition for her talents.
This night at the Grammys, she took home Pop Vocal Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Pop Vocal Performance and Album of the Year. That was four out of the six nominations she had.
She attended the event with her partner, Ava Silva. It would not be the first time they attended the event together but it was the first time after they came out and announced their relationship to the world.

“Thank you so much,” Beatrice says left and right to the people who congratulates her as she and Ava entered the Grammys after party hosted by Beyonce.
“In my opinion, you should have won all six,” Ava says to her ear.
“Ava, four is plenty enough,” Bea chuckles. “You’re just biased.”
“Fine, fine,” Ava rolls her eyes but chuckles.
“There you are!” Yasmine greets them. “I thought you two won’t attend.”
“Well, I would prefer to be home and under the sheets but she deserves to celebrate with her fellow artists,” Ava says.
“Yeah, share her to us,” Yasmine laughs.
They mingled with other musicians especially queer ones for a solid two hours. They expressed how inspiring it is that Beatrice in her status took a stand and fought for what she is and her relationship. They thought it would open a lot more opportunities to queer musicians and their craft. Beatrice is glad she made a difference. It was not her main intention but she’s happy that it led to that. She promises to continue advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights along with the charity Ava and her started for women that can’t afford to go to college.
Ava, Yasmine and Camila all went to the powder room and Beatrice went to the bar to order drinks.
“Hi, Beatrice,” someone says from behind. Bea turns around and sees Lilith smiling at her.
“Hi,” she politely says. “Lilith, right?”
“Oh my gosh you know my name!” she exclaims.
“You were the new Dior ambassador along with Ava,” Beatrice says. “Of course, I remember.”
“Congratulations, by the way,” Lilith beams. “Four wins. That’s a lot.”
“Thank you.”
“That was very brave, coming out on Oprah,” she says to her.
“Thank you,” Beatrice nods. “Who are you with?”
“Some viral musician from TikTok that is my father’s godson,” she sighs. “He ditched me when he saw Olivia Rodrigo.”
“That sucks,” Beatrice says.
“How about you, why are you alone?” Lilith asks, stepping closer.
“They are just-”
“Love!” Ava is suddenly on Beatrice’s side, putting her arm around her and kissing her cheek.
“Hey,” Beatrice beams. “I was just talking to Lilith here.”
“Hi,” Lilith gives Ava a forced smile.
“Hey,” Ava answers but her face void of any emotion.
“Anyway, nice talking to you, Bea,” Lilith turns to her. “I’ll be going.”
Beatrice just nods.
“‘Bea’? What the fuck?” Ava huffs when Lilith is out of earshot. “She talks to you for five seconds and she thinks she can call you that? The fucking nerve.”
“Who the hell even invited her?” Camila wonders.
“She said that this TikTok dude that is her father’s godson took her and ditched her for Olivia Rodrigo,” Beatrice shrugs, sipping her drink.
“I would say, deserve,” Yasmine raises her glass. “Poor Olivia though.”
“Why are you talking to her?” Ava demands to Beatrice.
“Come on, Camila, let’s dance,” Yasmine pulls Camila.
“I was just being polite,” Beatrice takes Ava’s hands in hers. “She approached me kindly so I wanted to be polite.”
“What did she say?” Ava purses her lips.
“Same thing as everyone said to me and us this evening,” Beatrice says.
“Why is she all smiley? Did you say something funny?”
“Not at all,” Beatrice says. “I found it weird that she’s smiling so much, honestly.”
“Good,” Ava sighs. “I just can tell she’s up to no good.”
“Don’t let her ruin our night,” Bea tilts her chin up. “Come on, let’s dance.”
“Okay,” Ava smiles and takes her hand.
They dance the night away, Lilith out of sight.
On a rare day off, Beatrice goes to a gym in Downtown. They have a room that would be the gym at home but the equipment they ordered haven’t arrived yet. Ava is deep in her stunt training and it inspired Beatrice to work on her fitness more. She is after all, going on tour in a few weeks.
She did her sets while listening to podcasts about the queer community to educate herself more. That talk about being more vocal and taking a stand for their rights at the Grammy after party really struck her.
She is jogging on the treadmill when someone started brisk walking next to her.
“Fancy seeing you here,” it is Lilith’s voice.
Beatrice heard it through her airpods but she didn’t respond. She looks the other way to try to compose herself first.
“I said fancy seeing you here, Beatrice,” Lilith’s voice got louder.
“What?” she turns. “Oh, Lilith, it’s you.”
“Hey,” Lilith waves and smiles.
“Are you stalking me?” Beatrice jokes.
“What an accusation,” Lilith chuckles. “Just so you know, I have been a member here for five years now. It should be me that should be accusing you of stalking.”
“It’s a random choice,” Beatrice shrugs. “Our home gym is still being arranged.”
“Better make the most of this opportunity then,” she smirks at her. “Do you need someone to spot you? I could even coach you if you want.”
“No thanks,” Beatrice says. Lilith is starting to get on her nerves. It’s obvious she is building up to making a pass at her. “I’m almost done anyway. I’m picking up Ava after this.”
“I’m sorry, but what do you see in her?” Lilith raises an eyebrow.
“Apology accepted,” Beatrice scoffs.
“No, seriously?” Lilith presses. “You can have anyone you want. Instead you chose an actress who is trying so hard to shy away to what she’s only good at.”
“I thought you watched the show?” Beatrice tries so hard to control her temper. She knows Lilith wants to get a rise out of her and eventually make her question her and Ava’s relationship.
“I was so mesmerized by you I didn’t bother to listen to what you were saying,” Lilith continues to smirk.
“It’s on YouTube,” Beatrice flatly says. “Maybe try to watch it and comprehend it better. Now, if you’ll excuse me,” she gets off the treadmill and takes her towel and water bottle.
“Sorry,” Lilith says.
“And to make things clear, I am not and will never be interested,” Beatrice points between the two of them.
“Don’t be so sure,” Lilith calls out. “I can be great at changing someone’s mind.”
Ava was so excited when she picked her up. She chatted away as they drove home and Beatrice almost forget her encounter with Lilith. She wanted to tell Ava immediately but she didn’t want to ruin her great mood. She figured she’ll just tell her later.
They found Suzanne on the living room in her laptop. Ava kisses her cheek and excuses herself to go take a shower. Beatrice took a shower at the gym so she stayed with her mom.
“What are you doing?” Beatrice sits next to her.
“I’m just going through your videos,” Suzanne smiles at her. “Areala compiled it and put it in a flash drive.”
“This is when I was just auditioning and singing in country fairs,” Beatrice chuckles as she sees the video.
“You were so young,” Suzanne smiles. “You were so determined too.”
“Yeah.”
“I wish I could have been with you,” Suzanne says, rubbing her tear-filled eyes.
“Mom…”
“I should have been by your side as you chased your dream,” Suzanne tells her.
“Mom, you worked so hard to support my dream,” Beatrice tells her. “That’s more than I could ask for. Please don’t ever think that you lacked in being my mother. You’re the best mom.”
“I doubt that’s true but I’ll take it,” she chuckles a bit. “I love you so much, Beatrice.”
“I love you too, Mom,” Beatrice kisses her head.
They watch a few more videos before Beatrice has an idea.
“Mom, why don’t you move here in LA?” Beatrice asks. “I know you’re not really a city girl but please, hear me out.”
“Okay,” Suzanne nods.
“There’s really nothing left at home,” Beatrice tells her. “I know our old house holds a lot of memories for you and of course for me as well but that’s it,” Bea smiles sadly. “You can bring those memories anywhere with you.”
“I know,” Suzanne nods. “But it’s hard.”
“I understand that,” Beatrice says. “But you could take them here. Areala, your best friend is here. You could do book club in person instead of Zoom. The art scene here is lush. There are lot of amazing knitting and tailoring even gardening workshops. And most of all, I’m here. If you regret that you weren’t there when I started, then be with me now.”
“You’re right,” Suzanne nods. “I’ll think about it.”
“Okay,” Beatrice kisses her head again.
Later that night, Ava turned in early. Stunt training was fun but very draining. She left Beatrice and Suzanne watching old Beatrice videos in the living room.
“I thought you are already asleep,” Beatrice says when she entered the bedroom.
“I can’t really sleep without you by my side, I guess,” she shrugs.
“How are you gonna be when tour starts?” Beatrice chuckles, sitting next to her and holding her hand.
“You can record me voice memos,” Ava suggests. “You can record songs for me to listen to as I fall asleep.”
“There’s this thing called Spotify,” Beatrice teases her. “I have ten albums there.”
“You’re such a kill joy,” Ava rolls her eyes. “Go get ready for bed and cuddle with me.”
“Yes, my love,” Beatrice kisses her and goes.
“How did your talk to your mom went?” Ava asks as Beatrice spoons her.
“How did you know?” Bea asks.
“I kind of heard,” Ava confesses. “After I showered. I figured it’s best to leave you to it so I went to the study.”
“I asked her to move here in LA,” Beatrice tells her. “She said she’ll think about it.”
“That’s good,” Ava says. “I know you miss her terribly when she’s home and you’re here.”
“I also don’t want her to be alone there.”
“How was your day other than that though?” Ava asks. “You were quiet when you picked me up earlier.”
“I saw Lilith at the gym,” Beatrice turns to face Ava.
“What did the bitch do?” Ava asks, very annoyed.
“You know how she is,” Beatrice says deciding not to go into details for it will only anger Ava.
“What’s her deal, seriously?”
“Hey, don’t worry about it,” Beatrice assures her. “I decided won’t go back to that gym anymore. I followed up on our equipment and it will be coming the day after tomorrow.”
“Good,” Ava sighs.
“Don’t worry, I don’t want her company like you don’t want us being in the same room with her. Honestly, she makes me very uncomfortable.”
“Because she’s evil,” Ava rolls her eyes.
“I know there will be times that we’ll be in the same room as her, it’s inevitable, but I want you to know that I don’t care about her. So pay her no mind from now on.”
“That’s hard to promise but I’ll try,” Ava says.
“That’s a start,” Beatrice kisses her forehead.
“Kiss me better, Grandma,” Ava chuckles.
“I thought you are tired,” Beatrice says.
“Not anymore.”
A week later, Ava’s parents visit again. They can’t help but gush about the interview to Ava on their way from the airport to the restaurant where they’ll meet Beatrice and Suzanne. They said that a lot of their friends especially in the entertainment industry reached out to say how in awe they are of how the two shared their story.
“Thanks Mama, Papa,” Ava beams at them. “But please, can you take it down a notch later? I don’t want you to overwhelm Suzanne.”
“We’ll be on our best behavior, mija,” Reya promises.
“I’m so excited to meet her,” Vincent smiles. “I mean she could be your mother-in-law.”
“Papa,” Ava gapes at him.
“What? Is that not one of your hopes? I mean I can see you love Beatrice very, very much.”
“Of course,” Ava bites her lip. “But let’s not rush it, okay?”
“Vin, behave,” Reya looks at him knowingly. “They’ll get there,” she winks.
When they arrived, they were escorted to a private booth Ava and Beatrice reserved.
“Hi,” Beatrice stands up to greet them. Ava kisses her. “Miss me that quick?” she chuckles.
“Always,” Ava whispers. “Mama, Papa, this is Suzanne, Bea’s mom.”
“Nice to meet you both,” Suzanne offers her hand but Reya immediately envelopes her into a hug.
“I’m Reya, this is my husband, Vincent,” she beams at her.
“I know who you are,” Suzanne smiles. “I’m such a huge fan.”
“Ah,” Vincent puts his hand on his chest and beams. He hugs Suzanne as well.
“Come on, let’s sit,” Ava tells them.
They talk briefly about the interview but Ava and Beatrice steered them to other topics. As much as they are happy that their parents are very happy about it, they want to talk about other stuff with them.
They talked about new progress in Beatrice’s tour, Reya and Vincent are so happy she’s going to play in Madrid. They plan on gifting Diego a VIP ticket for birthday. He’s really getting good grades in college and they are delighted. Ava jokes that maybe she should have studied college so they’ll be that proud of her too. Her parents then assures her that they are very proud of her. They are very excited for her upcoming projects. The talk then went to the films she’ll be doing. Suzanne asks about Reya and Vincent’s movies from the 80’s and 90’s that she loves. They were very happy to give her snippets of their experiences from there. Reya gushes when she found out Suzanne worked as a marketing executive before she retired. She tells her that growing up, she always saw herself working in a fancy office doing marketing but they didn’t really have the money so she has to work instead of study and eventually made her way into acting. She also enjoys gardening and they bonded over that.
Ava squeezes Beatrice’s hand under the table and beams at her. “I love you,” she mouths at her.
“I love you too,” Bea mouths back.
Over dessert, the conversation managed to go to Reya and Vincent’s marriage.
“How about you two?” Suzanne asks.
“What about us?” Beatrice asks back.
“Aren’t you thinking of it? I mean, you’re of age.”
“Way, way of age,” Vincent stresses, chuckling.
“Pa,” Ava looks at him pointedly.
“I mean,” Beatrice looks at Ava. “We just got back together,” she shrugs.
“It’s way too early for talks like that,” Ava smiles forcibly.
“No rush, then,” Suzanne says. “Sorry, I was just curious.”
“It’s okay,” Ava says.
It was quiet for a moment.
“You know what, maybe we should talk about it,” Beatrice breaks the silence. She looks at Ava and then to her parents. “I want you to know that I love your daughter very much. And I know we’ll get there,” she beams at a teary-eyed Ava. “We just got to do our thing. My tour, her films. We’re still young. We have lots of time.”
“I hope grandchildren could be part of things you want to accomplish as well,” Vincent quips.
“Papa! You promised to behave,” Ava sighs.
“Pardon your father,” Reya chuckles. “I want you both to know that we are not pressuring you. We love you both and just enjoy life.”
“I agree,” Suzanne smiles. “Just please don’t wait until we can’t walk anymore or something.”
“Okay,” Beatrice laughs.
After, they dropped off Reya and Vincent to their hotel before they went home.
“Ava, do you mind if I talk to Beatrice before you go to bed?” Suzanne asks when they got through the door.
“Sure,” Ava smiles. She kisses her on the cheek and Bea on the lips. “Good night, Suzanne.”
“Good night, Ava.”
“Should I be concerned?” Beatrice asks when Ava is out of sight.
“Not at all,” Suzanne smiles. “I just want to ask you something.”
“Okay, what is it?”
“Would you come with me to look at houses?” Suzanne asks.
“Mom…” Beatrice is gaping. “Does that mean…”
“You’re right. I should be closer to you.”
“Oh my gosh!” Beatrice hugs her. “Thank you. I love you!”
“I love you too, Bea.”
“I’m so excited! I’m going to call Beth Childs. I’m sure she has great recommendations that will be not far from here,” Bea gushes.
“Calm down. You can call her tomorrow,” Suzanne laughs. “Go get some rest. Good night.”
“Good night, Mom.”
“Why are you dancing?” Ava laughs when Beatrice comes in the bedroom.
“Mom is moving to LA!”
“Oh my god, yes!” Ava hugs her. “I’m so happy for you.”
“Everything is just falling into place,” Beatrice says. “I hope it’ll be just like this from her on out.”
“I’m sure it is,” Ava kisses her.
