Chapter 4
Luna ran and immediately hid behind one of the hung up banners, it was black with an orange sword symbol pointing down, the rims were orange too. She kept silent, but after a minute or two, she realized the voice sounded like it’s heading away from her. Breathing a sigh of relief, she started to get curious, Luna had a feeling it was that same guard, but where was the guard going? That was her number one question. Luna carefully drew the banner back just a tad, so she could look. She looked around. Nobody was there, she moved from the banner and started following the guard’s voice. It was actually quite easy, even though he soon enough stopped talking to himself, Luna could still hear the quiet thuds of medal footsteps echoing in the distance. But Luna’s number one question was, where was the guard going? But she had a feeling she would find out soon enough.
As soon as she turned the next corner, she saw the guard, and immediately hid behind the corner, but could still watch. When she looked, the guard was by the medical bay? Wasn’t he told that he wasn’t allowed there? Eh. Who really cared. The guard entered, but left his sword outside. Luna was trying to decide if she should follow or not. But she decided soon and chose to follow him.
She quickly ran but the sword caught her attention, it was really pretty. It was a standard knight's sword, but it had sun engravings on it. At the handle it had a sun engraving, but on the other side of the sun engraving it looked like a moon. It was really pretty. She quickly realized this sword could be extremely useful to her, but the guard would most likely notice his sword is gone, so she left it and peaked into the medical bay.
She saw the guard walking into a room, once the guard shut the door Luna actually entered the medical bay. This was her first time there and she was really curious to know what it looked like. The medical bay looked way different than the castle and her room. The walls were a grayish-white. There were tons of beds but nobody to occupy them. It was quite odd to her. But then Luna saw something that caught her eye, it was a chain on one of the bed’s nightstands. She walked over to it and looked at it, it seemed to be silver, and it was around twenty inches long. She took it and wrapped it around her wrist so she wouldn’t lose it. She heard the guard’s footsteps again and immediately scrambled to get under the bed. When she did he heard a door open, then it creaked shut. She looked from under the bed, careful to stay hidden from the guard’s sight. Even though she couldn’t see his eyes, she knew that he was looking around the room for anyone. She wasn’t able to see the guard, but she was only able to see his feet.
She heard and saw the guard shuffling around, seeming to check for anyone that was there. Then the guard approached the bed, the bed that Luna was hiding under. Luna immediately, but carefully covered her mouth and kept as quiet as she could. Scared she would make a noise, she stayed still. The guard kneeled down to look under the bed, but before he did, Luna shuffled herself farther back. But the guard seemed to hear that.
“Hello? Is someone there?” The guard muttered, his voice was soothing and calm, but also commanding in a way, he might be an officer of some sort. It somehow brought Luna some sense of safety. But she decided not to say anything, and stay as quiet as she could. “I’m not going to hurt you.” The guard added, his voice going to a more gentle tone, a reassuring one, like a voice she could trust. She almost spoke but didn’t, he might just be playing an act after all.
She looked around for a way to escape, but she couldn’t find one, well, see one anyway. She looked if she could use the chain anywhere, not without the guard knowing. To be honest, she was scared. She was scared of getting caught. She wanted to get out of here, why did she even decide to follow the guard? Or even explore for that matter. Then Luna heard the sigh of the guard, and he got up.
“Guess I’m hearing things again.” The guard told himself, thinking he was alone. Little did he know Luna was there, listening to every word he said. Luna heard him walking away, a door creaking open, then it being shut quietly. She knew she was alone now. So she quietly crawled out from under the bed and looked around, nobody, that was good. Luna stood up and looked around this strange place more, and found a syringe. It was confusing because it had a sparkly light gray liquid in it, and it was just sitting on the bed. She recalled that it wasn’t there when she entered this strange place, odd. Luna kept looking around, then her eyes laid on the door the guard entered, she felt like it wanted her to enter. Luna carefully crept over to the door, it wouldn’t hurt to just peak inside, right? It was probably a good idea to check if anyone was near first, so she crept over to the door that would lead her out of the medical bay, and opened just a crack, she looked left, nobody was there. She looked right, not a single person. She listened, she heard nothing, then she looked above, she knew it was dumb but she wanted to make sure, like she thought, nobody. Luna slowly and carefully closed the door, heading back to the mysterious door, taking a deep breath and gathering her courage, she opened it, then slowly and carefully, went inside.
