She Ran
The door swings open, and Nancy looks over towards Robin, who is shifting from one foot to another, swinging her arms in front of her and behind her, looking to the side.
Nancy clears her throat and taps Robin's shoulder. Robin jolts and looks towards Nancy, who has rested her hand on her hip. Her face turned a noticeable red as she shuffled her way inside the Wheeler’s house. Nancy shrugged and followed the embarrassed dirty blonde girl inside the house.
"Nancy! You're back!" A blonde woman steps into view of the girls, the woman smiles at Robin. "It's nice to see you again Robin!" The woman chirped.
"Hi again, Mrs.Wheeler." Robin waved toward the woman, then she went back to rubbing her arms and shuffling her feet. "It's also nice to see you again…too." She babbled, moving her hands as she talked.
"Karen" The woman corrects, smiling towards her as Nancy rolls her eyes and stands by the stairs to go upstairs. The brunette waits by the staircase for Robin, who rubs her neck and points towards her, mumbling an apology as she points towards the stairs. Karen just nods and Robin quickly makes her way towards Nancy.
The two girls make their way up towards Nancy's room. Her soft pink walls blared down, and Tom Cruise stared at the two girls. Nancy watches as Robin puts her bag by the door and looks around, her hands swinging back and forth as she rolls on the balls of her feet.
Nancy softly smiles at the nervous Robin, her heart swells up at how adorable Robin looks in her eyes. She wants to know a lot about Robin, what she likes, and what's her favorite color. Robin was like a puzzle to her, she wanted to put the pieces together.
"Ance! Earth to Nancy Wheeler!"Robin waved her hand near Nancy's face. The girl's blue eyes widen, her cheeks heat up and flush red. She looks away. "What were you thinking about?" Robin had asked, her head tilting. Nancy's face flushes again, even brighter, and a small smile plays on her face, finding Robin adorable once again.
"You, I hardly know anything about you," Nancy admits, ducking her head. Robin's eyes widen, blushing slightly, she looks away from Nancy and backs up slightly away from Nancy.
"What do you want to know?" Robin spoke slowly, and carefully. Like she was afraid that if she didn't think out her response, she'd mess up.
"Anything, everything that you are willing to tell me" Nancy hid her face in her hands, unused to her boldness before.
"I know three languages, four if you count Russian that I am currently learning. Spanish, French, and Italian. Well, five if you count pig Latin." She rambles, moving her hand through her hair, flopping backward against the bed, causing Nancy to bounce a little.
Nancy nods, looking down towards Robin, lifting her hand and running it into Robin's hair. Her fingers caught tangles in the dirty blonde hair.
Robin's eyes widen and her cheeks redden, she quickly sits up. Writhing her hands together as she turns her head around.
"Sooo, any boyfriends?" Nancy asks, poking Robin's side. Curious about Robin's reaction. Tilting her slightly, she sees Robin hesitate before answering.
"No, no boyfriends. Just haven't been interested, you know, with saving the world? Not like anyone would get it, with the nightmares and the panic attacks." Robin rambled on. Nancy nods, taking Robin's writing hands into hers and squeezing. She lets go as she takes a breath. Causing Robin's eyes to flicker towards her hands and then back to her face.
"Then why aren't you dating Steve?" Nancy searched the ocean-blue eyes, trying to find an answer or anything that would help her answer. "He'll get it. He's been through the same things…"Nancy stated but slowly stopped talking as her eyes flickered towards Robin's bouncing leg and hands.
" I can't, no matter how much I try." Robin looks away, shuffling towards the floor. "I can never bring myself to love him like he wanted. I do love him, just not in the way that he wanted me to, just not in the way I like girls," she takes a breath and turns her head to stare at Nancy, eyes brimming with tears. "No, I love girls the way guys love girls. I'm sorry if I make you uncomfortable, I can leave." Robin stands up, getting off the bed in the process, not giving Nancy any time to say anything. "Uhm, I'm going to go ring up Steve to come get me…"Robin Buckley mumbled, walking out of the room. Nancy's eyes widened, she got up and raced downstairs to see Robin softly chatting with Steve, crying, who looked surprised to see Robin there. Steve slings his arm over her and softly whispers into her hair, giving Nancy a confused and concerned look. Nancy just frowns and walks back to her. She flopped herself onto her bed. She rolls over onto her back. She sits up to see Robin's bag, sitting by her door, she lays back down, groaning, not sure how to get Robin's bookbag to her.
"Robin…" she stares at her ceiling, sighing. Robin didn't make her feel uncomfortable, she didn't have time to tell her before Robin got up and ran out of her room running to Steve Harrington for comfort. "I'm going to clear this up." She whispers to herself, she hugs a pillow close to her body, hoping to clear everything up the next day or Monday morning at school. She sighed and dug her face into the pillow. The pillow absorbs the tears she lets out, as her shoulders shudder.
