Day in the Storm
As they lowered to a giant building, only Mauline noticed a flash of rainbow scales behind them.
Mauline turned in the sky to glace behind them.
“Anything wrong, Mauline?” The MudWing asked.
“No, sir.” Mauline said, pushing past the growl in her throat, but thankfully the growl did not come out. “Is it alright if I go hunt?”
“Why, of course! Be back soon!” The MudWing said.
Mauline dove into the trees. Instead of hunting, she looked for what made the flash of rainbow scales.
She turned around and around but soon gave it up. She did not see anyone there. But she suspected that there was someone hiding somewhere in this moon forsaken forest. Shaking her head, she lashed her tail and her tail thunked against the tree. Being part SeaWing, of which the tribe had giant powerful tails that could make giant waves, her tail nearly broke the tree.
“ WATCH OUT!” A voice screamed from a tree, before Mauline could react a Rainwing fell right on top of her.
“GAH!!” Mauline said, startled. “Who’re you? OH, you’re the flash of rainbow scales I saw earlier!”
“Uhh…No?” The Rainwing said not convincing at all, “I was just laying in the tree the whole time. Speaking of… OW! Maybe don’t hit random trees you see.”
“You don’t sound convincing. And I can’t, sorry, my tail has a mind of its own when I am frustrated. Plus, I underestimate its power sometimes, since I am part SeaWing.” Mauline said, sitting up.
“Other part Leafwing? That’s cool, I don’t really ever see hybrids around here.”
“Oh, I was brought by that MudWing. I have an idea on how to take his power!” Mauline said.
“I know that jerk. What’s the idea?” The Rainwing said clearly interested
“Taking his scroll. It seems to be his source of power.” Mauline said, shaking out her leaf wings.
“That scroll is heavily guarded, I should know, I’ve only been trying to take it for the past 4 years. He keeps it a safe, along with lasers, spikes and other booby traps that I haven’t discovered yet. So what's your plan?”
“A distraction that needs all guards to go to, and to disarm the booby traps. Lockpick the safe, get the scroll, and zoom out.”
“You don’t think I’ve tried that? Again, with another person would be nice.”
“You have a Leafwing with Leafspeak now. Me.” Mauline used her Leafspeak to grow a tree seed to a full-grown giant oak tree.
“Alright, what's your name Hybrid?”
“Mauline.” Mauline said.
“Ok, Mauline, I’m storm and that’s all you get to know. But what's your story?”
“If I don’t get to know yours, you don’t need to know a lot of mine. All you get to know is my Parents are Redwood the SeaWing Animus and Cloud the LeafWing. Oh, and one of my friend’s Opal is a NightWing-RainWing Hybrid.” Mauline said.
“MAULINE!” The MudWings voice called.
“Oops. I have to go.” Mauline said as she caught a fox that had ran past the two of them while they were chatting. “See you later, Storm.”
Mauline shot up into the sky and followed the MudWing to the Villain Base.
