The Nightmare

Mauline opened her eyes to see deep green scales and leaf wings.

"Morning Mother." Mauline said to the deep colored LeafWing.

"Well, finally! You sleep like a dead dragon!" Mother laughed.

Mauline's other Mother, who Mauline had called Mom, so her two parents weren't confused together, called up from the lower part of the nest, "Breakfast is ready!"

Mother said to Mauline, "See you downstairs!"

As Mother flew down to Mom, Mauline went to the window and looked out.

Lately, she had been having nightmares of an MudWing with a scroll in their talons. They had always offered, "With my help, you could kill all of your enimes."

After that, the MudWing smiled eviliy.

Mauline wasn't scared by the MudWing. No, she was scared by how much she WANTED to kill all her enimes with the MudWing.

When Mauline woke up, the first thing she felt was that she was missing something. Then, during that first time, she searched her heart and found that the dream had took a piece of the goodness that was in her.

Right now, she searched her heart. Mauline thought, 'Just one or two more of that nightmare, and I would be lost to the darkness of evil... I should probally try to delay my next dream as much as I can...'

"Mauline! Time to come down!" Mom said.

'Uh, oh!' Mauline thought. "Coming!" She yelped.

She turned from the window and spread her wings to fly down to the lower part of the nest.

"About time!" Mother said, her deep green leave wings shifting a bit as she spoke.

"Sorry!" Mauline said.

Mom shook her blue snout and handed her breakfast.

Mom said, "Opal asked if she could hang out with you once you are done with breakfast. I told her you could."

"Thank you Mom!" Mauline said, excited. Opal was her best friend for years.

Opal was a very funny NightWing-RainWing.

Mauline finished her breakfast quickly and hugged her Mom and Mother.

Mom said, "Don't try to speak Aqatic to Opal, Mauline. She doesn't understand the SeaWing language."

"I know, Mom. See you later!" Mauline burst out the door to see Opal jump up and Opal rushed over to Mauline.

"Hey, Mauline! Do you want to explore the RainForest today?" Opal asked.

"Sure!" Mauline replied.
