Chapter 5
You were sitting in the part where students rarely go, the shelf of autobiography. The temperature of the chilly library started to lull you, drawing you in to a nap your body needed for many days. You tried to fight it, opening your eyes wide, pinching your cheeks from time to time as you read a book you need for your major subject's assignment.
But as much you tried to resist it, you fell asleep in the library. Your head was in an uncomfortable position, as well as your arms. Your hair was a mess. You looked like you were murdered.
Chishiya didn't think that he would find you here, but he wasn't complaining. He wanted to fix your sleeping position, but it might wake you up. He sat at the seat in front of yours and started doing his output.
He flipped pages of the textbooks as silent as possible, again, not wanting to wake you up. Your sleeping appearance wasn't close to the ones he read on the shoujo mangas he bought.
You didn't look like an angel that descended from heaven. He finds it amusing how ethereal you looked when you were sitting on the grassy parts of the field, but now, you look ordinary in your vulnerability.
You looked humanly.
You stirred up, raising your head, and stared at him dead in the eyes, as if you heard him think about you and your ordinariness. You fixed your hair, and ducked your head to sleep again.
To him, you felt like an entity not from this world. Something that tried to much to belong to the masses. You don't feel warm, you were cold to touch. Maybe that's why he was so magnetized to you.
You're similar to him.
He still doesn't want to let go of his goal to see the real you. If there is someone that would know who you genuinely are, it would be him and him alone. He's not going to let anyone get in his way.
He wants you to tear your walls down. He wants to see if you were just as unstable as him, or maybe even worse. He desires to see your raw emotions, not the ones you crafted to fit in. He desires to see you lose your calm and stoic composure. He wants to be close enough to you. You are a perfect and special specimen of this observation of his.
He knows what he feels for you is way different that what his friends think. He doesn't like you innocently. He wasn't even innocent in the first place.
He wonders and imagine about the things that you would do if you let yourself free and it made him excited.
He wants you to break.
After an hour probably, you woke up completely. Your eyes were red and wide, aftermath of not enough nap. Your eyes registered who was in front of you, and you blink owlishly. You rubbed your eyes and yawned.
He stood up and you watch him walk away, just for him to go to the seat in your right. He sat close beside you, close enough to have a conversation without increasing volume, but not too close to disrespect your personal bubble.
“You still work for that fast food?”
“Uh-huh.” while nodding off, your body still wants to sleep.
“What's your hourly pay?”
“Uh... ¥1072, why?”
“For how many hours?”
“Five, y'know, part time. You didn't answer my question.”
“I see.” Ignoring you, he did a quick mental math of how much you would get for working in a span of a week. “Resign. I'll pay your time instead.”
You were surprised at what he said. Your brain stopped processing for a moment.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“You're lacking proper sleep. What? Can't I worry for you?”
“You can, however,” you moved you legs to let yourself face him properly. “we aren't friends, not even close enough to do what you're planning to do. Chishiya, what are you getting at?”
“I'm being a good Samaritan. I'm helping you, out of good will.”
As if he just uttered the world's funniest joke, your body shook as you clasp your mouth, desperately trying to not chuckle loudly.
“Chishiya, you, and the concept of being good don't align with each other. I know that you're up to something, that I'll probably dislike knowing.” you sighed as you grinned lopsidedly. “But since you're paying me, I'll play along.”
“You aren't taking me seriously, are you?”
“Of course not, silly. For someone who's so intelligent, even considered as a genius, you talk stupid things, you know that.” taking your book from the floor, something you just noticed after your nap, you stood up of the seat.
Your eyes were expressionless as you moved your face a little too close to his ears. “Once I find out about what goes inside that head of yours, and I end up hating it, I'll crush your windpipe.”
