Chapter 4

[A/N]: I think I never cleared things up. This fanfiction will be an Univ AU, which the Meteor Strike didn't happen. And Kuina and Ippei was Chishiya's active friends. I'm still sad about the fact that Ippei killed himself, and Kuina and Chishiya didn't remember their bond. So yep! Here's the third chap. I apologize for the grammatical and spelling errors. Enjoy!

To him, you were a mystery. You appeared like an open book, you overshare about things in your life, yet he really can't unravel the barrier you put around you. You were incomprehensible and he can't himself but to observe you, try to understand you.

These past few weeks that you actually interacted with him and had a proper conversation where he's not just staring at you like hawk to its prey, he still do not know any clue about who you truly are.

All of his life, he had known things more than others. He figured things out before anyone else did, he was always at first, at the top. Such hubris, but he was correct about himself. He had people under his feet.

Imagine being great all of your whole life, until an unsolvable piece of puzzle presented its way at him. He was frustrated at himself for not knowing even a speck of a detail about you. He knows you weren't lying about you life story, but he knows you weren't genuine about your feelings when you told people about that.

Why were you so difficult?

“You know Chi, just ask her out.” Ippei snickered together with Kuina. “If your stares can melt people, the poor [Surname] would already evaporate.”

He glared at the two, as he continued nibbling his snack while the three of them sit in a wooden bench located at the center space of the university, while you were sitting under a tree, over the grassy field, together with some of your acquaintances.

“Ippei is right, don't be shy. It's not like [Name]'s going to harshly reject you, if they happen to not like you, you know.” putting lollipop on her mouth, she glanced at you.

You knew that the three were talking about you. Whispers, along with side glance, totally talking about you. You just didn't know if it was backstabbing or they were having an innocent conversation.

“I'm not gonna ask them out, I don't even like them.” Chishiya denied.

“Sure.” unconvinced, Kuina took a ¥1000 bill and put on her lap. “I'm betting my money, within three months, you'll admit that you like them. Doesn't matter which way you admit it. I just feel it.”

“I don't have that much money, but here, I'm betting ¥1500, he'll do it in a month.” Sipping the last drops of his Strawberry soda, Ippei goofily grinned. “My money is going to be doubled.”

Chishiya groaned as he bit his snack, napping it into two. Ippei freezed, but didn't back down, so is Kuina.

“It's not like we're telling you that it was going to be a love at first sight. Why are you so offended as if we just told you that you were a simpleton?” Rolling his eyes, he averted his eyes just to see you staring at him.

His breath hitched. The sun just hit you with its gentle morning rays, your hair was glowing, as the wind blows on it lightly. You waved at him with your signature wave and tilted your head.

He swallowed thickly and waved back.

“I think were going to get our money soon, Pei.”

“I think so too, Kuina.”

They teased him, yet his ears remained deaf to their provocations. His harsh eyes remained soft at the sight of you. He remembered the first time he met you, inside the gymnasium, three months ago.

Kuina and Ippei stopped talking, and smiled to each other. The thought of having their money doubled didn't matter to them anymore. Seeing their sarcastic friend starting to get whipped for someone was rather a wholesome and amusing thing. The two exchanged wordless conversation.

Chishiya snapped back to reality, clearing his throat. You stood up from your sitting position and dusted the grass that might stuck itself from your clothes. You made a wave of goodbye. Chishiya stood up as well.

“Are you gonna follow [Name]?” Kuina playfully wiggled her eyebrows.

“Maybe confess his undying love for them?” Ippei added, trying to wiggle his as well, but failed.

“I'm going to the library, I need to finish my output.” Chishiya covered his head with the hood of his hoodie.

“The deadline wasn't even near. You suck Chishiya. You suck.” She huffed. “I swear, if I see you together with my [Name] in the library, I'll burn your hair off.”

“‘Your [Name]?’”

“Yeah, why? Jealous? You should be.”

“Yeah, yeah. Bye.”

When Ippei and Kuina were the two left, Ippei laughed. Kuina raised her eyebrow, confused.

“Chi didn't deny that he was jealous.”
