1. April 4th (the first day.)
4th april - 1st day (and i wish it'd be my last.)
(Victor Grantz POV)
Back in March i was accepted to work at McDonalds, aside from being a postman with my pup, wick, i realised i needed another job to help earn more money. since i usually post mail on Mondays and Saturdays, i figured it'd be best to work days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. it was a lot but it'll do. so, as we speak it is 4th April and my first day working at my new job at McDonalds.
They, the management team, asked me what i would prefer doing and what department i would personally excel in, in the end i chose to be a cashier. it wasn't too hard but it also wasn't too simple.
As i was preparing to leave I suddenly jolted to the sound of my loud ringtone of my phone from my pocket. As i sighed and scoffed, since it really isn't the time for calls, i checked who was burdening me and saw it was... Andrew? Andrew kreiss, my... how do i say this? ex-boyfriend? friend...? are we even considered aquainted at this stage? oh whatever. i hesitated to answer and looked at the number dialing me and finally picked up. It was silent at first, and so as i realised how awkward andrew is and how he hated social communication i decided it would be best if i spoke first.
''Hello? Andrew?'' after around 20 seconds, he responded,
''oh uh- shit... i-uh... v-victor?'' he spoke with a low but soft voice. He spoke my name with a puzzling tone while stuttering like crazy. Heh, thats andrew for you,
''I uh- heard about your new uhm- j-job through uh... luca, luca balsa. h-he works at the same place you're going to and h-he just told me you're starting today...'' the conversation then became awkward. we had not one clue on what to say to eachother, and it doesnt help that andrew and i dated for what... 3 years? After i realised i competely ignored andrew, i respond,
''oh... cool... uhm, listen i dont wanna sound rude but i really have to go. i start working in an hour and i cant be late on the first day.'' i try to sound polite but i really do need to go soon, and i needed to get out of this awkward phone call as soon as possible. hopefully andrew doesnt take it personally.
''oh, yes sorry- i uhm- wanted to ask really quickly if we could go out for c-coffee one day...? just to catchup... if not its okay...'' i held in the huge urge to sigh, he broke up with me and now he decided that, after a year of not talking, he wants to randomly catchup? who does he think he is? the nerve.
''uh... yeah sure, i guess. well, you have my number so just text me any details.'' i mentally face-palmed to what i just agreed to and said my goodbyes to andrew. i guess i'll have to deal with him later.
as i cleared my head, i looked at my watch and realised that im now running late, i quickly packed my bags and left my home, not forgetting to say bye to wick. hopefully my co-workers dont realise my lateness.

as i entered the mcdonalds building, i suddenly hear a deep voice heading my way.
''so, ya the new kid?'' a black haired attractive man approached me and looked me up and down. is he analysing me? is this normal in these work facilities? the man had a red scar on the right side of his face, daren't i question him about it. i nodded in response to his question and he signalled me to follow him, which i did.
''so, welcome to the kitchen, ya wont really need to go here much since ya work at the tills but its best to know ya way 'round.'' after some time, i was shown every department and understood how some machines work incase i would ever need it.
''finally, last stop, the managers office.'' the taller man presented and then leaned closer and whispered, ''but be careful, manager's the fiesty one-'' before i could react to my co-workers humourous joke, i suddenly heard a strong british accent appear from behind me.
''fiesty am i, campbell? that's a new one, you must've expanded your vocabulary, well done.'' i shot around to see a brunette, a bit smaller than me who had blue shining eyes that reminded me of a deep blue sea. i know you arent really meant to 'woo' over your co-workers but this perticular male was... stunning. i looked down to where he situated his badge and it pridely read 'manager'. suddenly, i glanced at norton who seemed to be thinking of a way to play it cool,
''yeaahh, felt like coming up with somethin' new. whatcha think?'' the man, whos name must be 'campbell' played it off. it was smooth.
''personally? i view it as pathetic and childlike. now, do me a favour and go back to work, i'll take everything from here.'' the manager glared at campbell, motioning him to leave back to his station but as he attempted to defend himself he only received a more deadly glare, which mustve been so intense that campbell gave up and walked away. but before he had fully left the room, he spoke towards me,
''hey, new kid, i mustve forgot to mention me name, its norton. norton campbell. good luck out there!'' as norton was fully out of sight, a sigh could be heard beside me.
''he's quite the worker. ah- right, victor. that is you, am i correct?'' i looked over to the source of the voice and made direct eye contact with the blue eyed manager.
''yeah, that is me.'' i attempted to put on a warm smile and tried to hide any signs of nerves.
''welcome to the team, my name is edgar valden and as you probably have assumed, i am your manager.'' edgar extended his arm, indicating a handshake, which i took his hand and shook it. surprisingly, his hand was quite soft.
''it is a pleasure to meet and work with you, sir.'' i politely spoke until i heard a faint giggle.
''please, theres no need to call me by sir. valden is fine, but i thank you for being polite.'' valden gracefully smiled and showed me to where i would be working, he explained on what i will be doing and fortunately it was the end of the first day. what a day it has been.
i said goodbye to my new co-workers and began the walk home. it did take a while, but i did enjoy having peaceful walks home where i can recollect moments that occured during my day and to simply think to myself. and as soon as i arrived home, i was greeted by a familiar pup who looked desperate for a walk. i sighed and grabbed the leash and headed out for wicks favourite time of the day.
...2 missed calls from ANDREW.
