Note
Hey ya'll! So, I've had this idea for a LONG time now but it didn't come to fruition until now. Thanks to this Valentine's day prompt I got to finish this story that had consumed my mind and soul. Feels good to let it all out and share with you all hahahaha. After seeing some arts of the bees dancing I thought they could be dancing to the Ed Sheeran song "Perfect". I mean...come on! The chance at humor is RIGHT THERE KSJFLAGLAJGK (The Yang in me is SCREAMING LOL). Hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!

Blake stands in front of the doors of the Grand Ballroom, fidgeting with the ring Yang had given her as a Valentine’s day present a year ago.

“Hope she doesn’t have anything stupid…’ she pauses, thinking about all the times the blonde made a ludicrous pun about something, “or…‘punny’... planned for today.”

She bites back a giggle, “Dammit, she’s rubbing off on me…” That was her Yang. A force of nature with a personality and an aura so contagious that no one could escape her charm.

Blake squeezes her eyes shut and heaves a long sigh. Contentment. All that they had been through together plays in her mind. The first time they met. How they became partners. When Yang lost an arm for her…that one still stings. She remembers how she and Yang had fought her biggest nightmare together. Side by side. Hand in hand. How she thought she had lost the love of her life forever when escaping Atlas. She reminisces about the time she had finally confessed her love for the blonde on the island of Ever After, and how the blonde had said nothing but pulled her in for a passionate, longing kiss.

She remembers that moment vividly. How her head was buzzing. How the butterflies in her stomach somersaulted. How she could only hear the sound of waves and her own heart beating in her ears. The feeling of Yang’s one hand in her hair and one at the small of her back. The taste of Yang’s lips. Everything

It felt like heaven, being able to hold the love of her life again. She wondered how they could ever be just friends. If Weiss hadn’t pulled her back, Blake would have jumped right after Yang. She was certain she would have. She didn’t want to lose Yang after she had just come back to her. But the universe had different plans for them.

And there they were. Forehead to forehead. The blonde’s hands on her waist, and her hands cupping her sunshine’s face. Standing like that as the sun descended the horizon, savoring the moment of serenity and contentment for as long as it lasted.

Blake sniffles as a single drop of tear escapes her eye. She wipes it away. All of that was in the past. What matters now is that the great war is over and she couldn’t be any happier with her partner and friends by her side.

As if on queue, the doors to the ballroom slowly open, revealing a buzzing crowd, upbeat music, and just…ecstasy.

Blake takes a deep breath, absorbing everything like the emotional and spiritual sponge she is. She still isn’t a big fan of huge social gatherings, but this is different. She has her family there with her, and she’d do anything for them. Be it jumping into voids or mingling with guests - even the blood boiling ones.

Without wasting another second, the brunette walks into the ballroom.

As soon as she enters, the upbeat music shifts to a soft melodic guitar floating across the room. Blake tries to make out what the song is, but fails as she isn’t the “song” person in the group. Weiss, Ruby and Yang are. She is more of a “soft piano instrumental” kind of person.

“I found a love for me…” A deep, feminine, husky voice boomed across the room, and a hush fell over the crowd.

Blake stops in her tracks, eyes widening as she realizes who the voice belonged to. “Darling just dive right in, follow my lead…” And so she does. She follows the voice, her heart beating faster with every strum of the guitar.

She spots Ruby and Weiss looking at the direction of the singer. Ruby has the dorkiest grin on her face, which isn’t surprising as that’s how their baby leader has always been like. Childish but also mature. Weiss, on the other hand, looks poised and graceful as always, with a proud smile dancing on her lips.

“I found a girl. Beautiful and sweet..” Blake follows Ruby and Weiss’ gaze, and her heart skips a beat. There sits the love of her life, on a bar stool on the dance floor, donning a slick black and yellow tuxedo, with a guitar propped up on her knee. The blonde flashes her million dollar grin upon seeing her beloved, and locking eyes with her, she sings “I never knew you were the “someone” waiting for me.”

Blake gets rooted to her spot. No one had ever done this for her. She never thought someone would serenade her, and in front of an entire crowd, for that matter. But here Yang is bringing her romantic fantasies to life. The brunette couldn’t hold back her tears as her lover stands up and continues singing.

“Cause we were just kids when we fell in love…” A piano starts playing in the background. Blake looks over to see Weiss working her magic along the keys, who looks at Yang and gives a nod of approval. “Not knowing what it was…” Blake turns back toward Yang. “I will not give you up this time…” Yang walks toward Blake in a relaxed fashion.

Blake’s breath catches in her throat. “How can someone be so hot, gentle, sexy and lovestruck at the same time?” she wonders, her cheeks dusting in red. “Darling just kiss me slow, your heart is all I owe…” The blonde is standing in front of her now. Blake gazes deep into Yang’s eyes. A reflection of her own soul.

No matter how preposterous it may sound, Blake believes in the story her mother had told her years ago. About the faunus princes who gave her life for her lover, a noble youth, who died on the battlefield. And after meeting Yang she felt that she found her noble youth. When Yang and the others went their separate ways to help the people in Mantle, Blake was anxious and in constant fear of losing the one person who’s been by her side from the start. The one person who pulled her from the shadows, the one person who helped her find her wings and fly.

And now, in her heart, she knew that they were the reincarnation of those two. She often used to wonder, giving up on sleep, about how the color of her eyes were that of Yang’s aura, and the color of Yang’s eyes were hers. Is it a coincidence? Or were they truly the lost lovers? She wasn’t sure. But the idea of spending the rest of her life with Yang just felt right.

“And in your eyes you're holding mine…” Yang gives her signature wink, and offers her hand to the brunette. Blake didn’t notice Jaune taking the guitar from Yang and continuing playing the song. Blake smirks, thinking about how fitting that line was, and takes Yang’s hand. The blonde pulls her close by her waist.

‘Baby, I’m dancing in the dark…” The light goes dim as Yang sings those lines and guides Blake onto the dance floor and into a slow dance. “With you between my arms…” Yang places a hand at the small of Blake’s back and holds one of her hands in the air, and Blake places her other arm around Yang’s shoulder. “Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song.” They begin gliding across the dance floor effortlessly. Well, it is Yang’s dancing skills and Blake’s intuitive abilities to pick up on it that makes it look effortless.

‘When I saw you in that dress…” Yang looks Blake up and down, taking in how captivating and breath-taking the brunette looked in her black gown with golden accents that hugged her figure flawlessly. It was difficult for the blonde to not choke and mess up her rhythm. “Looking so beautiful, I don’t deserve this…”

“She’s wrong.” Blake thinks. If anything, Yang deserves all the happiness in the world, and Blake knows that she makes the blonde immensely and ineffably happy. And Yang makes her feel like she’s the luckiest woman on Remnant.

Yang couldn’t help her grin growing wider as she sang the climax of the chorus. That’s when it hit Blake, her eyes widening and mouth hanging open. “Darling you look purrfect tonight…:

Seeing the brunette’s reaction, Yang bursts out into a full blown guffaw. “Yang!” Blake cries out, pushing the blonde gently by her chest. Yang grasps her wrist and pulls her into a deep, slow kiss. Blake gets caught off guard, but closes her eyes and drapes her arms around the blonde’s neck, relishing the kiss.

“So you did have something “punny” planned” Blake comments after they pull apart, quirking an eyebrow and smirking. Yang giggles, brushing a strand of hair off of her lover’s face to see her better. “I could die for you, baby.” the blonde replies, her smile soft and eyes gentle. Blake places her head on Yang’s chest, and Yang holds her close and tight. “I know…”
