Happiness
The smaller girl had slipped on some under and a t-shirt before climbing back into bed to sit next to Luka. She sat with her legs crossed while her hands drew circles in the comforter trying to work out the words she wanted to say.
“What do you want from this?” Luka had asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Listen Miku, I’m very forward on what I want, it's just down to the nature of me being me. I want to know what you want out of this situation that a vampire and werewolf are interested in each other.”
Miku sat there longer and traced the thread on the bottom of the shirt’s hem. Her eyebrows moved while she thought as if she was actually talking to herself. “It feels complicated.”
Luka leaned forward to have her arms rest on her legs, “I love to hear it all.”
She sighed before kicking her legs out on the bed and fell back into pillows, her hair flaring out and spilling over the bed. “It’s just… vampires and werewolves don’t mix, shit in our current environment we don’t even speak to each other without a scuffle.”
“Yeah you're right.” Luka laid next to Miku to stare up at the ceiling.
“It’s just we- ah I mean our kind would kill each other before accepting the easy truth that the impossible is very well possible.”
“You know, your life was never meant to be easy?” She asked the werewolf never to turn away from the sight of the ceiling. Miku looked over and studied the calm and reserved ghoul before looking back at the same ceiling. “You were born into a world that is in constant hiding from the other world, why limit yourself more to your happiness?”
Miku had started to sniff as her eyes became clouded with tears, Luka rose up and leaned over her, a hand creasing her cheek while a thumb ran over her skin to wipe away the tears that traced down her skin. The smaller girl had her arms shoot up and wrap around Luka’s neck forcing the vampire to lay down onto her as she sobbed into her shoulder. Using her forearms to prop herself up above the blubbering mess the werewolf was in, she dipped in and kissed her softly on the lips. Pulling back from her, Luka whispered gently, “Hush, I have you.”
Miku’s soft sobs slowed down, her nose still sniffled from the sudden emotional distress. The vampire used her body weight against her to help sooth her, which only made the distressed girl cling closer to the ghoul. Luka whispered comforting words of relief to bring Miku back to her senses. The werewolf regained her breathing and finally spoke, “wa- was that our first kiss…?”
“I guess it was, but I will ensure it won’t be the last.” Luka was always quick to answer, as if she never thought of what to say but her mouth seemed to act first and think second.
“I’d like that.” It was Miku’s turn to make the vampire blush. Luka rolled off the girl and onto her feet, her one hand grabbing the shirt and she slowly stood up having Miku watch her every move, she’s hooked.
“Come on puppy, get dressed so we can join breakfast. I don’t want to disappoint some parents,” She winked and slid the fabric over her shoulders.
