Chapter 3
Lucy fixes Kate breakfast. Jane brought her some eggs with French toast.
It’s plenty for both of them.
After that Lucy suggest to take a shower together so she can attend to Kate. Her arm is still in a sling and she can’t wash herself properly.
Kate gives her the look.
Lucy grins and shakes her head.
“No funny business. You are hurt. None of that!”
Kate pouts
Once they step into the shower the physical attraction is great. Hard to fight. They haven’t been with each other in months.
Lucy carefully washes Kate’s body and hair and then tents to herself. The closeness of their bodies drives Kate crazy.
The blonde is breathing heavy. She is so turned on seeing Lucy in front of her. But her arm and ribs are hurting pretty badly too.
Lucy is trying her hardest to ignore Kate’s body, because all she wants to do, is give in.
But she knows, Kate needs to heal first. Feelings later. Also they need to have to talk about Cara. So she takes a towel and dries them both off.

They are both cuddling on the couch. Lucy in Kate’s arm, breathing her in.
Lucy sighs and gazes at Kate.
She kisses her lips.
“Hey Baby,” she starts, having Kate’s attention now. “Why were you so afraid and panicked?”
looking at her with love in her eyes
Kate swallows hard and closes her eyes.
“I, I was drowning in my dream. You were standing there laughing at me. Telling me I deserve to drown, because I didn’t tell you about Cara. I saw the hurt in your eyes. You covered your ears when I was screaming for you to save me from drowning. As I took my last breath I woke up!”
tears streaking Kate’s face again
“I have the same nightmares since we broke up. I can’t shake it.”
Lucy holds her tighter now. Brushes her fingers over Kate’s wet cheeks. Rubbing her back.
“I am afraid to fall asleep, because I am worried when I wake up this is not real. You not being here. So I panic. I can’t breathe. Luce, I can’t imagine a life without you anymore. I know I messed up. But please, let me make it up to you?” Kate is begging now
Lucy nods and gives he a soft kiss.
“I am sorry I put you through this Kate! I though only I was hurting, not realizing that you suffered as much as I did. I was so stubborn not giving you a chance to tell your side of the story. I was afraid getting hurt again, so I shut you out. I am sorry. I love you Kate! Will you forgive me for being inconsiderate and mean?
Kate smirks. Soft kisses follow.
“Can I be your girlfriend this time?” she whispers gazing into Lucy’s beautiful brown eyes
“I want nothing less,” Lucy whispers back
“So we are officially back together then?” she asks holding her breath
“We are” smiling at the blonde. Kate leaps into Lucy kissing her until she needs air.
She just holds her tight until her ribs hurt. Tears are rolling down Kate’s cheeks again.
"I love you Lucy Tara. Thank you for taking another chance on me!"
Lucy takes the blonde’s face in her hands and kisses all the tears away until there are none left.
“No more tears,” she says.
Then with a more serious face: “But we need to clear up things and I need to hear your side of the Cara story, ok?”
Kate nods.
“But for now, I need you to take your meds and rest. I will stay here with you. You are stuck with me!” Lucy grins

While Kate was sleeping on the couch, Lucy had cleaned up the bathroom, the bedroom and did laundry.
She tip toes into the kitchen and looks what is in Kate’s refrigerator. Jane had nicely stocked it so the blonde had food for at least a week. There was cod, chicken breast, different kinds of veggies, cream, milk among other things. Seeing this, Lucy has a million ideas on what to cook with all those amazing ingredients.
Once Kate wakes up she will ask her what she would like for dinner.
Satisfied with her options she closes the fridge.
She turns her eyes to the couch just to find another set of brown eyes staring at her.
Lucy grins and walks over there. She kneels in front of Kate so she can be on the same height.
The blonde takes Lucy’s hands and kisses her knuckles.
“Thank you for being here and taking care of me. You did not have to do this.” Kate blurs out.
The brunette tilts her head and gazing in Kate’s eyes.
“Have I told you lately that I love you?” she asks her
Kate blushes. “Hmm, I think so?” she answers carefully
“So where would you be, if I got hurt and had to rest for awhile?” Lucy tries for a logical answer.
“Well I would come over and stay with you, until you could take care of yourself again and make sure you would not over extend yourself while you injured.” Kate is very proud of her answer
Lucy smiles. “Yes, but why? You have other things to do than taking care of me.”
“Yes, but I love you and there would be nothing in the world holding me back to take care of the one and only person I love. I would do it even if we were not together.” Kate sighs
“So then Kate, why am I taking care of you right now?” tilting her head again
The lightbulb come on in Kate’s head.
“Oh, …..! I get it. Duh! Because you love me too and you want to make sure I get better and don't overdue it. Sorry, It still feels I am dreaming!”
“Took you long enough, Whistler!” Lucy laughs and shakes her head.
“Ok, so, dinner. Your fridge is stocked. Do you want me to cook some cod with some veggies for dinner?” Lucy suggests
“I would love that,” Kate replies
“Hey Luce, did you have anything planned this afternoon? It’s 2:30pm.”
“No not specifically. Why? Do you have something in mind?” the brunette asks
“I was wondering if we could have the difficult conversation? I need to get it off my chest. It weighs me down. I want to tell you all of it. And start a new chapter in my life. With only YOU in it. I just want it over with and move on." Kate feels a bit nervous, but means what she said.
Lucy sighs.
“I guess now is as good as any other time. Do you have some whiskey? I might need it!”
