Chapter 2
Kate has spend 3 days at Jane’s and she feels ready to go back to her own place.
Jane drives her home and makes sure she has everything she needs.
Kate hugs her and thanks her for all she has done for her.
Back in her apartment she is sitting on her couch and starts thinking again.
She has an idea. She feels way better and does not want to wait any longer. It is now or never.
She grabs her wifi speaker. Opens her playlist and picks the song she wants to play.
After trying it out and how loud it will play she has her plan in place.
She checks her phone to figure out if she still can see where Lucy is. When they were together they did location sharing.
Lucy must not have turned it off. It’s 5pm and according to her phone Lucy is already home.
She grabs her stuff and calls an Uber.
When she arrives at Lucy’s apartment complex, she walks over to the apartment where Lucy lives. She drops a bit back so she will not be seen immediately. She turns on the speaker and picks the song she wanted to play. Puts it on the highest volume setting possible.
She holds the speaker over her head.
“So here goes nothing” she says quietly to herself. Her hands are sweaty and she is shaking.
She pushes the play button, waiting to see what happens.

Lucy’s door flies open
She is looking where the music is coming from.
“What the heck ……”
She stops in her tracks. Looking straight ahead, she see’s Kate.
Speaker on her head, love song playing. Lucy immediately connects the dots and understands the Lloyd gesture.
“Say Anything” the movie. Smooth Kate.
She is shocked and decide to listen to the song. She knows the blonde is trying to tell her something.

Kate gets bolder now and sings along with the song looking straight at Lucy:

Kate can clearly see what affect it has on Lucy.
She has tears in her eyes
Now she sings even louder, hoping Lucy can hear her loud and clear

Lucy comes running over to Kate.
“What are you doing here Kate?” she asked
Kate turns off the song and looks in Lucy’s eyes.
“I am trying to tell you, that I love you Lucy! I have loved you for a very long time. I was a coward and afraid you would not feel the same. So I never told you. But regardless, if it is too late or not, I need to tell you, so you know. Lucy, I am so sorry I hurt you. Never wanted to hurt you. I have never been so in love with anyone but you! Honestly, I can’t sleep, I can’t breathe. I can’t live without you another day!”
Kate is shaking and tears are streaming down her cheeks again.
Lucy gazes at her.
“Say it again!” she requests
Kate puts her speaker on the ground and takes a step toward Lucy.
The blonde cups Lucy’s face into her hands and says:
“I love you! More than you ever will know. And I will show you how much everyday if you let me!
Lucy closes her eyes as Kate’s words are washing over her. She leans forward into Kate and kisses her lips. First gently, then it turns passionate. Both are longing the touches and kisses they have missed so much.
Let’s go inside, Lucy says.
As she closes the door she smiles at Kate.
“Where is your boombox?” she asks
Kate grins and shows her the speaker.
“That’s not a boombox,” Lucy complains
“It’s the closest I could find, and it did what I needed it to do. YOU hearing ME!” she laughs
“Who would have thought Whistler coming up with something like that. You definitely a romantic.”
“Did it get me the girl?” Kate asks carefully
Lucy grins and steps in Kate’s space. Standing on her toes she kisses Kate’s lips.
“I think so,” winking at her
They both sit on Lucy’s couch.
Lucy takes the blonde’s hand into hers and looks at her.
“Kate, I love you too.” Immediately a big smile appears on Kate’s face.
“But we need to talk about all this. It won’t be easy, I want you to be honest with me. I don’t want to get hurt again. I always dreamed of spending the rest of my life with you, but I need to make sure you are all in. I can’t do half stuff. No more secret girlfriends. You and me need to be official!”
Kate nods vigorously.
“That is all I want. All I ever wanted was you! There was never and will never be anyone else. I want to be with you Luce. You make me feel things I have never felt before. I know I should have ended it officially with Cara so there was no doubt in her mind. I am so sorry!”
They both laying on the couch holding each other.
Lucy sits up. “Well today is Friday and I am off for the weekend.
How about we go to your apartment, because you still do not feel well. I can take care of you better there. We can talk, get take out or cook, watch movies and just enjoy each other. Maybe we can walk on the beach, depending how you feel. We have lost so much time. We both have been so miserable. Let’s start a new happier chapter in our life.
What do you say?”
Kate does not say anything. She finds Lucy’s lips again and kisses her passionately. Lucy moans. She quickly reciprocates. They make out for a while.
Lucy gets up and starts packing some of her stuff into a duffle bag.
When she comes back she finds Kate asleep on the couch. Exhausted from the days events.
She wakes her up and they drive to Kate’s place.

On their way to the apartment Kate orders some take out.
Kate is very exhausted and changes into her P.J’s as soon as she gets home.
They eat dinner without many words.
Lucy cleans up the plates and puts the trash away. It looks like no time has past.
Kate is barely holding on.
Lucy takes her hand and kisses her knuckles.
“Let’s go to bed. You look so tired.”
Kate looks longingly into Lucy’s eyes. “Will you join me in bed? I always sleep better when you are with me. Please?”
Lucy nods and drags Kate into the bedroom. She tucks her in and gets ready for bed herself.
They both hold each other and fall asleep quickly.

Kate has a nightmare. Reliving the break up in her dream. She screams and jolts awake.
Lucy gets ripped out of sleep as well by Kate’s jolting.
Kate is shaking and crying. Still half asleep, not comprehending reality.
Lucy is holding her tight, trying to calm her down.
“I am here, baby! You are ok! Breathe Kate!” trying to make her feel safe
When Kate has calmed down a bit, Lucy gets a wet towel to wipe Kate’s sweat off her face.
Kate’s face is still panic stricken. She clings to Lucy, holding on to her for dear life.
“I am sorry Lucy! I promise I will never hurt you again. Please don’t go!” Kate starts crying again.
Lucy realizes Kate has a panic attack. She had no idea, how much Kate was hurting over their past breakup. She promises herself from thereon out, to always hear Kate’s side as well, before making any decisions or running away.
She holds Kate, kisses her gently, brushes her cheeks and calmly tells her how much she loves her and that she will never leave her again.
The blonde’s breathing slows down and feeling safe in Lucy’s arms she falls asleep again.
When Lucy wakes up in the morning and reaches over to the other side, it’s empty. Kate is not there. She gets up, puts some sweat pants on and looks for her.
Kate is standing on the railing of the balcony and staring out into the ocean.
Lucy approaches her and slings her arms around her waste.
Giving her little kisses on her neck.
Their eyes meet. Kate still has a panicked look on her face. She is so afraid this isn’t real. Her pain killers played a trick on her. She is trying to holding back tears.
“Hey love, what is going on up there, in this mind of yours?” Lucy whispers
Kate clinches her jaw. “Nothing, just thinking,” and tries to smile at Lucy.
“Kate! We talked about openness and honesty. Now is the time to start. We broke up, because we never were open and honest with each other. Always assuming things. Specifically me! We need to do this better. We need to be transparent with everything in our personal lives. No more secrets. I love you Kate! I will be here for you, always. I promise.”
She pulls her into a tight hug. Kate is letting her tears go. Sobbing on Lucy’s shoulder.
They are just standing on the balcony holding each other for a long time.
There is a knock on the door.
Lucy lets go of Kate and goes to the door.
“Tennant!” Lucy says surprised.
“Come in!”
“Didn’t expect you here, but I guess that is a good sign?” Tennant questions
“Yeah it is. She came over to my apartment and convinced me that we needed to get back together. I was a dummy trying to convince myself that I could live without her.” Lucy smirks and shakes her head.
“Yeah dummy! Everyone could see this, but you! Anyway how is she otherwise? Tennant now giving Lucy a concerned look.
Kate is still on the balcony wiping off her tears.
“Ahhh, not great. She is working through some drama I guess. She had a nightmare and a panic attack in the middle of the night. I am glad I was there. She still needs a lot of rest. I am planning staying here for a while until she is significantly better. So if you are looking for me, I will be here.”
“Why don’t you take next week off as well so you can be there for her? Tennant suggests
“Are you sure?” Lucy raising her eyebrow
“Yes I am sure. So does that mean you guys are back together? As a couple?” Tennant giving her the mom look.
“We haven’t talked yet about all the things, but it is safe to assume we are back together. We both know, this is special and the way we feel about each other, is something neither of us has felt before. Just keep this to yourself for right now, if you can and don’t tell the boys.”
“Ok, no worries. I tell them you needed some time off and should not be bothered.” Jane winks at Lucy.
“But you know Ernie. He will track you down and see that you are here.”
“I just ignore him,” Lucy laughs
Kate walks in the living room now.
“Hi Jane, checking up on me?” Giving her a little smile
“Yes, I am. I brought you some breakfast. Had no idea you had a nurse taking care of you,” Jane breaking out in laughter
“Funny right? And she is a good one. I am considering keeping her,” winking at Jane
They are all laughing now.
I gave Lucy off next week so she can help you to get better. I need you to take your meds and lots of rest! Jane gives Kate a stern look.
Kate wants to object, but Jane holds her hand up to stop her.
“You both need time to heal and talk and … you are welcome!” she smirks
“I see you are in good hands now. Give me some updates over the week and let me know if you need anything, ok?”
“OK, thank you Jane!” Kate hugs her.
Lucy walks Jane to the door.
“Go take care of your girl!” Jane whispers to Lucy.
The brunette nods
