Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes - "You Came Back"
“You came back.”
Bucky was sitting on the bed, eyes wild as he looked up the man who had just come home. His hands were wringing around the dogtags Steve had left for him.
Steve blinked at him. Then he shut the door gently and slid to the floor in front of him. He put his hands over Bucky’s hands. “I did,” he said carefully, taking the dogtags and wreathing it over Bucky’s neck. He’d been a few hours past his expected return time.
Bucky sighed softly.
Steve kissed the back of each of Bucky’s hands before sliding up onto the bed next to him.
“I thought…” Bucky began, before shutting his mouth again.
Steve slowly ran a hand through Bucky’s hair. Bucky sighed again and leant into the touch.
“I’m sorry,” Steve told him.
Bucky closed his eyes and didn’t respond.
