Spider-Man/Nova - "Do you ever think we should just stop this?”
“Do you ever think we should just stop this?”
Peter looked at Sam in surprise. “Stop-”
“I don’t know,” Sam ran a hand through his hair. “Being superheros? Being a superhero couple? Being in danger all the time? Being scared for each others safety? Our secret identities?” He groaned.
“Are you… dumping me?” Peter said it in a confused voice. He wasn’t sure what was going on.
Sam looked at him at shock, then walked towards Peter and wrapped his arms around him. “No I’m just… tired.”
Peter hugged him back. “Yeah.” He kissed the top of Sam’s head. “But we do it for a reason right? Being superheros, I mean.”
Sam sighed. “I know.”
“People depend on us,” Peter continued. He didn’t have a speech in mind, just talking. “We’d feel guilty if we didn’t use them, we’d blame ourselves for anything that’d happen. We know the risks.” He hugged him tighter. “I like being a superhero couple.”
Sam snorted into his chest. “Only cos you couldn’t find anyone better.”
Peter pulled a face, despite Sam not being able to see it. “This is why I don’t have deep conversations with you.”
Sam laughed again. “I’m awesome and you know it.”
Peter groaned. “We were having a moment.”
Sam nuzzled his head against Peter’s chest. “Yeah,” he said softly. “But I’m good now.” He still sounded uncertain; lost.
Peter hummed and kissed his head. They’d work it out.
