Time and Attention
"Oh my God." Rosalee pushed away the book she was trying to study and turned to Monroe. "Just tell me what is going on." At his surprised look she sighed, relaxing a little. "You've been moping around all day and doing the heavy sigh every other breath."
"Oh, sorry." Monroe smiled ruefully. "I wasn't aware." He paused then sighed. At Rosalee's pointed look he shook his head. "It's just that Nick's birthday is coming up and I don't know what to get him."
"Have you talked to him about it?" The doubt in Rosalee's voice makes it very clear what she suspects the answer is.
"Yes. He says he has everything he needs or wants."
"Of course." Rosalee doesn't even try to hide her feelings on that statement. For a moment she purses her lips then shifts on the stool she is sitting on. "If it was me I would take him out for a steak dinner and then go to the bar by the station he and his friends hang out at." At Monroe's visible shudder she smiled. "Or have Hank and Wu take him out for dinner then meet them at the bar. Show him that you've noticed the changes he's made for you and that you appreciate them. That's more important than a monogrammed ice scrapper or a new watch."
Monroe considered, nodded as he worked his way through her logic. "That's a good idea. Thanks." He leaned over to kiss her on the cheek before standing up and stretching. "I think I'll give Hank a call now."
