Endless Waltz
"It can't last." Wufei crossed his arms over his chest, disdain screaming from every line of his body. "Humanity was born and bred to war. We can not more stop fighting than we can stop breathing."
Quatre shrugged, not the least bit intimidated by Wufei or the intensity that radiated off of him. "You might be right. It is possible that despite everything we've done, all the sacrifices we've made that war could break out again." He smiled softly and shook his head. "But if we never try to hold on to this peace or make it last then we've already failed without knowing if we might have been able to win. I'm not willing to do that." He smiled again, wider this time. "And I don't think you are either."
Wufei nodded slowly as the logic presented to him awoke the warrior slumbering inside. "I will do as you ask and fight this battle even though I think it is a lost cause, but I reserve the right to remind you of my reservations if it comes to that."
Chuckling Quatre stuck his hand out to shake on the agreement. "You've got yourself a deal."
