Lee Pace / Reader (3) - Part 3
You and Lee left your apartment and headed out to the seaside where you had to take a bus because it was a bit further away. You walked side by side on the beach boulevard and sometimes there were silent moments that lasted over ten minutes. Some of them were awkward and some of them were warmly welcomed. The truth was that even though you were a social person, you also liked your own space and you did not have the constant need to talk all the time. This however sometimes made you appear distant or uninterested according to other people, even to your friends who were supposed to know you the best.
You took quick glances at Lee every once in a while to remind yourself that this was actually happening. Lee looked very handsome and stylish in his sharp clothes and sunglasses that made him unrecognizable, which was awesome because the alternative would have been that he would have gotten surrounded by fans… well, one or two at least. You stopped to eat in a fancy restaurant and after finishing the early dinner you and Lee headed to the beach. You sat on the sand and after a moment took off your shoes and walked into the shallow water barefoot. You encouraged Lee to do the same but he politely declined your invitation.
After spending a bit over two hours on the beach Lee suggested that he would rent a car and give you a tour, just a fun ride along the coastline in the sunset. It was evening already and Lee had not been drinking for twenty four hours and therefore he was confident that he was fit to drive, besides he had no hangover anymore and he wanted to drive you somewhere more private to watch the sunset. He called someone and soon you saw an expensive convertible, a Jaguar, driving to the parking lot that was in front of the fancy restaurant. The restaurant was the very same where you and Lee had dined just a couple hours earlier.
Lee signed a couple of papers and agreed that he would return the car on Monday, or actually the car would be collected from Lee’s house on Monday, early afternoon. “It’s so easy when you have money and you’re famous” you thought silently while watching the two men shake hands and the guy who had brought the car gave Lee the keys. Lee flashed a big smile at you and walked to your door, opened it for you and closed it when you had sat down. Then he got to the driver’s seat and started the engine. You had never heard a car making such low roaring-sound and when Lee had driven out from the parking lot, he accelerated the car instantly making you getting pressed against the leather seat.
- Having fun? he asked as you and he were speeding along the coast, driving to the sunset on the road that was, fortunately, almost completely empty from other cars. There were some which Lee passed easily due to the massive amount of horsepower that the Jaguar possessed.
- Yeah. you replied and smiled a little awkwardly. The truth was that even though it was obvious that Lee was an excellent driver and he had clearly driven this very same car before, the speed was making you feel a bit unease and therefore you secretly squeezed the seat with your hand from the side of the door so Lee was not able to see you doing so.
- Great! he said and passed a nineties’ model of Ford. He drove to the hills and parked the car to the side of the road. You got out from the car before he managed to come and open the door for you because you did not want him to notice that your feet were actually shaking a little. You took a deep breath and calmed yourself by staring at the gorgeous view; the ocean, the setting sun that was embracing everything with warm, golden glow and of course… Lee Pace in his sunglasses, standing by the expensive car looking like a big movie star.
- It is a beautiful view. you said and smiled at Lee.
- Yeah, my favorite spot, actually. he replied and walked next to you.
- Do you… come here often? you asked curiously but also just to keep the conversation going because you had a feeling that the moment would turn romantic instantly if you let the silence take over.
- Every once in a while. Lee replied and after a quick pause he added “Whenever I need space to clear my head.” He sounded thoughtful and sincere which kind of caught you off guard; the Lee Pace you had gotten to know liked fast cars, fancy restaurants and jet set lifestyle where he was constantly surrounded by people who admired and adored him, most likely because of his money and fame. You had gotten an image into your head that Lee did not like to spend time alone, that he kept himself constantly occupied and entertained by people, maybe so he wouldn’t have to face the fact that his life was pretty shallow and empty… in your opinion at least. Now however you found yourself deeply puzzled because this moment… this setting did not fit the puzzle at all.
- So… you do not bring all your dates here-eh? you joked to lighten the mood a little.
- So this is a date? Lee asked in return and winked his eye at you after taking off his sunglasses.
- You tell me. you replied with a chuckle. “Wrong move!” you scolded yourself silently and decided to change the subject. You commented the weather, the surroundings and then found yourself giving a lecture about the tsunami-risk that the coast of California faced because there were landmasses on the slopes of the sea that could have started moving anytime. “…And it would most likely cause a sort of monster wave” you said and turned to look at Lee who had been listening to your speech silently, standing next to you.
- A monster wave-huh? he asked after you had stopped talking.
- Yep, with sharp teeth and eyes that glow in the dark. you joked, keeping your eyes fixed on the sun that had almost completely dived into the ocean.
There was strange electricity in the air and you had a feeling that any moment now Lee would guide you to face him and maybe kiss you. That would have been wonderful if he had been the man you had thought him to be but instead of that you gotten to know a man who liked the Hollywood lifestyle and had no real substance in his life. Sure his life was real for him… money, parties, dating supermodels… all that… but the truth was that you liked your life more. Besides you were annoyed that Lee was constantly flirting with you, to which you played along by flirting back, still keeping in mind that they were just words with no real significance… and the other thing that really pushed your buttons was the way he kept bragging about his fame and wealth, like he assumed that you would get impressed about things like that.
Oh no, you did not want him to kiss you and therefore you mumbled that it was getting late and suggested that you and he would return to the city before it got dark. Lee smiled briefly, walked to open the door for you and then got in himself. He drove you back to the city and parked the car in front of a trendy nightclub. He helped you out and then escorted you to the VIP-entrance where he was greeted by the doorman and let in without waiting in line like the ordinary mortals. The club was still half-empty but there was a steady stream of people coming in constantly. Lee ordered a drink for you and got a glass of water with ice cubes for himself, he was driving after all. Then he escorted you to a VIP booth and sat down next to you.
- Been here before? he asked. You however did not hear him first and you had to ask “What?” because the music was playing so loud. Lee repeated his question and this time you managed to make sense of what you heard.
- No, never. you replied and shook your head. The place was making you somewhat nervous because first of all, you were not wearing fancy clothes like everyone else… yeah, the same thing that had bothered you at the restaurant where you and Lee had dined earlier… and generally speaking the honest truth was that you felt like a fish out of water in places like this one and that was the reason why you very rarely, or even never, went to the clubs like this… most likely you wouldn’t have even afforded the ticket in… or to drink anything.
- Oh, okay. Lee commented and looked around a little. He saw some people he knew and gestured them to join you. When they came to the VIP-booth you realized that you had seen them in some movie but you did not remember their names. You were presented to them and when they sat down, you had to move to sit right next to Lee who then put his arm on your shoulder to give you more space to sit.
You kept sipping your strong drink and for your pleasant surprise you started to enjoy the evening as the alcohol started to kick in. Lee kept ordering you drinks whenever your glass was empty and at some point of the night you even headed to the dance floor. You took Lee’s hand and pulled you through the dancing crowd to dance with you as a song called The Rhythm by Sander Van Doorn was playing so loud that you could feel the bass with the every cell of your body. You kept your eyes fixed on Lee’s and smiled at him flirtingly because you knew that his full attention was on you. You grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled closer since the alcohol was making you feel more confident and the bright flashing lights made the surrounding world disappear. You felt Lee’s hands on your waist as you moved your hips in the rhythm of the song and after a while you turned around, put your hands up and pressed yourself against the tall man dancing behind you. You sank your fingers into your hair and closed your eyes, still feeling his hands on your waist, occasionally moving on your hips and holding you close in the tight crowd of people.
When the song changed into Rony Rex’s Sticky Fingers you turned around, smirked at Lee and bit your lip, put your hands on his chest and felt his firm muscles through his shirt. You moved your body, shook your hair so it got all messy in a very sexy way and when the song changed into Dusky’s Long Wait (Yotto Remix) you were basically dancing against Lee and staring deep into his eyes from a very close distance, waiting him to kiss you. Your mind was pleasantly clouded by the alcohol as well as the deep, sultry music and the general atmosphere at the dance floor. You shifted your gaze from Lee’s eyes to his lips and then back to his eyes again. He was so close, wrapping you into the shadow of his tall, broadly-built body and keeping you against him with a somewhat tight embrace… but he did not kiss you.
You danced for hours and hours… or that was how it felt like and then suddenly the night was over. Your head was spinning and your ability to navigate in the crowd was completely gone. Fortunately Lee kept holding onto your hand and led you out from the nightclub, helped you to sit in the car, put on your seatbelt and then drove to his house as the eastern sky was already turning green and the stars disappeared from the sky one by one. Lee drove quite fast along the empty streets and this time the speed made you laugh and lift your hands up in excitement. You turned your head to admire your personal chauffeur and smiled wearily at the sight while resting your head against the back of the leather seat.
Lee opened the gate to his house and parked the car on the driveway. He helped you out from the Jaguar and walked you in. He chuckled a little when you tried to reach to kiss him a couple of times, made you empty a large glass of cold water before leading you into the guestroom, helping you to get rid of some clothes and laying you down. He tucked you in and then brought you a glass of water and a painkiller with a note saying “drink this”, placed them on the nightstand for the morning and closed the curtains of the large window so you would be able to sleep late. You mumbled half asleep and asked him to stay with you but after pressing a soft kiss on your forehead, Lee left the room and got to his own bed.
It was past midday when you finally woke up. Your head was hurting a little and for your luck you noticed the glass of water as well as the painkiller right next to the bed. You sat up and sighed, washed down the painkiller and drank the water entirely because you knew that it would make you feel better. You looked around and tried to remind yourself about the events of the previous night. You remembered getting to the club… feeling like an outsider and then… having fun… but you had no recollection of how you had gotten here… Where “here” even was? Were you at Lee’s place? This sure was not your own bed!
You got up and realized that you were on your underwear. Your clothes were neatly folded on the back of a chair next to the bed and after recovering from the sudden shock you got dressed and left the room. You walked along the bright corridor into the familiar living room… the one that you remembered cleaning and then navigated to the kitchen because you could hear sounds coming from that direction. You were greeted by an adorable sight; Lee in his pajama pants, loose t-shirt and messy hair baking something… a pie perhaps. He was humming a tune and at first he did not notice you staring at him at the doorway.
- Oh, good morning! he said when he finally raised your head and shifted his gaze from the dough to you.
- Morning. you answered with a husky voice.
- Feeling alright? he asked and gestured you to sit by the kitchen counter. You sighed “Yeah” but instead of joining Lee, you asked if you could take a shower because you felt very dirty; like you had been on a gym and skipped the shower… besides you could taste death in your mouth.
Lee told you that there was a towel waiting for you in the bathroom with some clean clothes, a toothbrush and makeup removal too. You cursed, nodded and then excused yourself to the bathroom where you finally had a chance to see yourself in the mirror. “Fuck!” you exclaimed when you saw your reflection; you had panda-eyes because both, your mascara and your eyebrow pencil, had smudged entirely, basically leaving nothing where they should have been, your lashes and eyebrows. You got undressed, stepped into the shower and washed yourself. After that you washed your teeth, dried yourself with the large towel and got dressed into the clothes that Lee had generously provided you; a t-shirt and shorts that were very large to you but you rather had something clean on you after shower than got dressed in your own clothes that smelled like bar.
The painkiller was also finally working its magic and you felt like you were actually alive again… very hungry but otherwise good. You left the bathroom and sneaked back into the kitchen but this time Lee was not there. You shouted him a couple of times and then heard him calling you from the terrace where he was setting the table. The light however hurt your eyes and therefore you asked Lee to borrow his eyeglasses until your eyes got used to the bright sunlight. You and Lee sat down to eat breakfast and shared a not-so-lively conversation because you both were still somewhat tired from staying up until the sunrise.
- Did you have fun last night? you asked suddenly because you were a bit embarrassed that you had gotten so drunk and pretty much stolen the show.
- Yep. he replied and then added “I really enjoyed dancing with you” with a smirk and a wink.
- Oh gosh! you stated and buried your face into your hands as you got a vivid flashback memory of yourself basically rubbing yourself against Lee’s body in the rhythm of the music. The memory made your face first lose all color and the paleness was soon replaced with a deep blush. “Yeah, sorry about that” you mumbled and avoided eye contact with Lee as well as you could. “No need to be sorry” Lee replied and poured you some more orange juice, however suddenly he got up and stormed into the kitchen. Soon he returned to the terrace with the pie that he had forgotten into the oven but fortunately it had not gotten burnt yet. He cut you a slice and got himself a slice too, handed you the plate and said “I hope you’ll like it” and mentioned that he learned to bake pies while shooting the TV-series called Pushing Daisies.
You complimented Lee for his baking skills and after emptying the plate you leaned back in the comfortable chair. You discussed casually about nothing of great importance and decided to do some shopping today, maybe even visit some café’s and eat the dinner in another five-star-restaurant by the sea. Lee told you that he had to find a new suit for a fundraiser –event and he asked if you could help him to find something nice. You agreed to help him, of course, and after cleaning the kitchen together, you changed back into your clothes and left the house with Lee who had also changed his casual pajama into something more classy.
He drove you to the trendy downtown area that was filled with designer stores and café’s with lively terraces occupied by rich, beautiful people… and again you felt a little bit like a fish out of water. You followed Lee around at the stores, watched him trying many gorgeous suits on and then witnessed him buying three of them because you were not able to make up your mind about which was the best. He bought you two dresses; one to wear now so you did not have to walk around in dirty clothes and one cocktail dress for later. You did not exactly know what “for later” meant but you did not dare to ask him. You changed your clothes in the fitting room and put your old clothes into a bag instead. After the shopping-tour Lee took you to an expensive café to enjoy an afternoon snack and a glass of refreshing smoothie.
Then you returned to the car, put the bags into the trunk and drove to the seaside. Lee had called ahead and made a reservation, ordered the dishes in advance so when you finally got there, everything was basically ready and the waiter brought the appetizers to the table immediately. The place was a bit stiff in your opinion and reminded you constantly that your life was so different from Lee’s. Sure the food was great, very delicious indeed and the plates looked like works of art, the restaurant was gorgeous and the atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed but still, even despite giving a good time, you knew deep in your bones that this lifestyle was not for you. It was a nice holiday from your normal life but… you already missed the feeling of belonging and fitting your surroundings. You had felt that during the breakfast but then you had left the house and returned to the world where you were supposed to be admired and looked up to constantly. It was so tiring to live up to the expectations of the surrounding people constantly!
There was a pianist playing in the restaurant and Lee asked you to dance with him. You accepted his invitation even though you felt nervous to follow him into the empty dance floor. He placed his hand on your waist and held your hand with his other hand while you rested your hand on his shoulder. You swayed to the music and spun around a couple of times when Lee gestured you to do so. He led you very skillfully and kept his attention on you even though there were many gorgeous ladies in the restaurant trying to flirt with your date… or… not date; you were not on a date… this was just a casual dinner.
You danced with Lee a couple of songs and then returned to the table to enjoy the desserts after which Lee called a taxi to take you home. He had drunk a couple of glasses of wine with you so he did not dare to drive. Lee took the shopping bags from the trunk of the Jaguar, gave the keys to the restaurant owner and sent a text message to the rental firm, telling them where the car was and who had the keys. After this you got into the taxi with Lee and it took you to your building. Lee paid the ride before you managed to even demand to pay it… it was not like he didn’t afford paying for everything like he had… almost like he had been showing off his money or something… but you did not want to live on anyone else’s expense and therefore having him pay everything was making you feel uncomfortable.
Lee got out from the car and helped you out as well. He told the driver that he would come back soon and then he walked you to the front door of your apartment building. He wished you goodnight but when he turned to return to the taxi he noticed that it was already driving away. “Hey!” he shouted and waved his hands to gain the attention of the driver who just drove away anyway. “Shit” he cursed and just as he was about to call for another taxi you told him that he was welcome to spend the night at your place.
- Are you sure? Lee asked.
- Yeah, sure. you said and then added “I don’t have a guestroom but it is not like we had not shared a bed before.”
- True. Lee chuckled and then continued by saying “Well, alright” and following you in. You got into your apartment, put on some lights and told Lee to make himself at home. You took a quick shower and gave your guest a towel so he was able to take a shower after you as well. You apologized that you did not have a new toothbrush for situations like this because situations like this one never happened to you and therefore you had not seen this coming. Lee told you not to worry and that he would rinse his mouth with toothpaste-water instead.
You retired into your bedroom and got into bed while listening to the sound of running water. Soon it stopped and there were soft footsteps getting nearer to your bedroom. Lee turned off the lights and then joined you in the bed that was 140 centimeters wide, so there was basically plenty, or enough, room for another guest. You wore your pajama shorts and a tube-top and Lee was in his boxers because it was not exactly comfortable to sleep in one’s jeans. You talked for a moment, both laying on your backs, on the different sides of the bed and staring at the ceiling. Finally you said goodnights and a silence filled the apartment; a silence that was broken only by the sound of you both breathing peacefully.
Then suddenly it was morning and your alarm went off. You woke up almost instantly and realized that you were currently resting your head on Lee’s bare chest and his hand was holding you close behind your back. Lee however had not woken up when your alarm had started to ring and in your opinion there was no reason to wake him up this early. You removed yourself carefully from his warm embrace and got out from bed, sneaked into the kitchen and made yourself a quick breakfast. After that you got dressed, put on your makeup, fixed your hair and washed your teeth. You were just rinsing your mouth and stood up after spitting the water into the sink when you were surprised by Lee who was standing behind you in the doorway of the bathroom. You jumped a little and then wished him good morning after recovering from the heart attack.
- Morning. Lee said and smiled at you charmingly, wearing a t-shirt and his boxers. You looked a bit different with a stronger makeup and your hair tied on a tight bun on the back of your head.
- There is breakfast in the fridge. you said and added a pin on the side of your head to keep a strand of your hair in place since it was rebelling this morning and refusing to settle the way you wanted it to.
- Did you eat already? he asked with a slightly disappointed tone.
- Yeah. you replied and then explained by staring that you had to work today.
- Why didn’t you wake me up? Lee asked with a confused voice. You stopped for a moment as you tried to decide what to answer. The truth was that you were not a morning person and therefore you had a very tight schedule with an exact routine for the early mornings and you did not need a stranger to mess it up. You however couldn’t say that to Lee because it would have sounded very rude, so you replied that “I didn’t want to disturb your dreams” instead. “You slept so peacefully” you added and smiled briefly.
- So you… were just going to sneak out. Lee commented with a slightly offended tone. “Like you sneaked out on Saturday morning” he continued curiously, clearly trying to figure out what kind of person you were.
- Yeah, pretty much. you replied casually and then you realized that it had sounded quite inconsiderate. “I mean…” you said, paused to arrange your thoughts into words and after hesitating a little, you continued “…It’s not like I was trying to sneak away from you.”
- Uh-huh? Lee commented although his comment sounded more like a question or a challenge. You however gestured him to move and when he did, you walked past him out from the bathroom to get your purse. You checked the time and cursed that you were two minutes behind your schedule already.
- When can I take you out for the second date? Lee asked as he watched you putting on your coat.
- Date-eh? you asked casually.
- Yeah. he commented with a slightly shy and boyishly charming smile. That was the smile you had hoped to see the entire weekend and now that you finally did, you had no time to focus on it. Sure Lee had smiled a lot but his smile had been mostly very confident and… very self-aware… unlike now. Now he looked like the person you had hoped him to be.
- Second… date? you asked and took your work-shoes from the closet of your entrance hall. You started to put them on while listening to what Lee was saying.
- Yes. he replied with a hopeful tone. You stopped for a moment and emptied your lungs with a deep sigh. You were torn in two; on the other hand you liked Lee… or you liked parts of him… of his personality… but then again… there had been so many occasions during the weekend when you had felt like you were in situation where you had not belonged and with a person that you shared nothing in common. Sure Lee had been a gentleman and very charming one too, that was not the point, but… as fun as it had been… it had not been… real… and that was a problem.
- I don’t think that’s a good idea. you replied after taking a quite long time to think about it.
- Oh. Lee asked with a surprised tone and then asked “Why?” He did not ask it because he couldn’t believe that you did not want to see him again, or because his ego couldn’t take a rejection, but because he was genuinely curious.
- Don’t get me wrong… you started and after a quick inhale you continued by stating “I had such a great weekend and I wouldn’t change any of it.” You made a silent “Uhm” sound as you tried to read Lee’s expression; was he offended? Was he… alright with it? The tall actor looked now even more puzzled than before. “You are charming, funny and outgoing…” you listed and then continued by adding “…Charismatic… social… generous…”. You turned away to search your keys and continued the list with “…Extremely talented and so handsome” as you went through the pockets of your purse. When you finally found your keys, you focused your eyes on Lee again and stated a bit hesitantly “But… I do not think I fit your life.”
- What do you mean? Lee asked with a confused voice.
- Our lives are so different! you exclaimed and chuckled a little. “Listen, you’re wonderful but…” you said and paused to take a deep breath before saying the following aloud to your favorite actor. “…You’re just not my type” you stated with a tone that tried to make you sound certain when you were actually everything but. Yeah, you were indeed questioning your sanity because here you were, turning down the man of your dreams… or not… actually… as you had come to realize, Lee was actually pretty far from your dream-guy and therefore it was difficult but not impossible to wish him well and say goodbyes to him.
- Oh? he sighed and then asked “What is your type then?” He sounded curious, confused and almost desperate which made you feel puzzled because it just did not make any sense that he, a famous actor, would be so deeply touched by the possibility of him not being your type. “I-I don’t know” you stammered with a frustrated voice and shifted your gaze nervously away from the man who was staring at you with a expression that made him look almost like the heartbroken Ned from Pushing Daisies.
- But I do know that I want something real… you continued and then explained yourself better. “I mean, your life with all the glamour and fancy… things… it is real to you…” you said and after a small pause and shifting your gaze back to Lee, you added with a soft voice “…But it is not real to me.” Lee sighed and shifted his eyes elsewhere for a second or two and then shifted them back to you.
- It is was nice holiday from my real life but… it’s not what I want. you stated and closed two buttons of your coat because it was a windy day today. Lee kept staring at you, holding his breath and suddenly he commented “Oh, thank god!” with a relieved tone. You found his comment rather… odd… but decided to ignore it for now.
- You’re very smooth with the ladies… flirty… and it is fun… you explained and then continued after arranging your thoughts into a sentence “…And your confidence makes me feel confident as well but-“
- I’m not. Lee stated and interrupted you.
- What are you talking about? you exclaimed with a deeply baffled expression on your face. “You… What? That’s… what you have been… this entire weekend” you stated and chuckled nervously.
- Yes, I know… but it’s not me. Lee commented and smiled at you slightly. “Huh?” you asked and shook your head. This was just too confusing and you had no time for this… not now.
- I thought you liked… Lee said and then added “I wanted to impress you” with a somewhat shy voice.
- What? you exclaimed and then asked “But why?” You really did not understand what was going on here!
- Well, obviously because I like you, I really do, and I assumed that you were attracted to… he explained and after swallowing once he mumbled “…The ladies’ man –type.”
- I’m not. you commented.
- I didn’t know that. Lee stated and chuckled relieved. His state of relief was however short lived because your face was pretty much screaming at him that you did not believe or understand anything anymore.
- There are two persons. Lee explained and after a short pause he continued “The public me… and the private me… and the public-me is just a role… kind of anyway.”
- And whom I have been spending time with? you asked with a rather annoyed and deeply frustrated tone. You couldn’t believe that you were actually in this situation! “And I thought that it couldn’t get any worse” you thought and folded your arms to provide you some defense against the tall man who was making you feel cornered in your tiny entrance hall.
- The public. he admitted with an apologetic tone.
- Uh-huh? you asked and rolled your eyes. “Why would you make me believe that you’re something that you’re not?” you asked and before Lee had a chance to reply, you asked yet another question “Or are just saying what you think I want to hear?” However the second question sounded more like an attack or accusation.
- No! I know this is a mess and I am sorry… but I just wanted you to get attracted to me. Lee replied and then added “To spark an interest… because I…” with a somewhat desperate tone. You however responded with an eye-roll that made it pretty clear that you were skeptical about everything and anything Lee was going to say next.
- I know it is early… sudden and unexpected… but I know what I feel… and I wanted to make you feel the same way about me. he continued and reached to cup your face with his large, warm hand.
- By pretending to be someone that you’re not. you stated, scoffed bitterly and gestured him to remove his hand from your cheek. Lee pulled his hand away immediately and said
- Well… I assumed-
- Why? Why would you assume that I like player-types? you asked with a frustrated voice and sighed “Gosh!”
- Because you flirted back and… you seemed to enjoy that Hollywood… he snapped and then, after a deep sigh, he added with a barely audible tone “…Lifestyle.”
- Oh gosh, no. you snapped and then explained that “For example I prefer cooking at home to dining in five-star-restaurant!”
- Yes, me too! Lee exclaimed and then stated with a shy, apologetic tone “I have been an idiot” and asked softly “Can we just… start again?” You stared at him and then shifted your gaze elsewhere. This was absurd and you had so mixed feelings about the whole thing! On the other hand you were secretly pleased that there was a chance that Lee was your dream-guy after all, with few shortcomings of course but hey, no one is perfect, but then again… it meant that he had been lying to you the entire weekend and that did not exactly make him a trustworthy person!
- Hi, I am Lee… and I really would like to cook a dinner with you… at home… this evening. he spoke and offered his hand to you for a handshake.
- Sorry, I cannot do this evening. you mumbled and then continued by stating “It is going to be a busy day at work and I just need some peace and quiet.”
- Oh, okay. Lee said and pulled his hand away since obviously you were not going to shake it. You noticed the disappointment in his eyes so you decided to give him another chance and suggest a time that would work for you.
- I’m free on Thursday… so how about on Wednesday evening? you asked with a tone that was still a bit hesitant and unsure about the smartness of meeting Lee again.
- I have a couple of interviews. Lee replied with a sad tone.
- Oh… okay… you commented and then asked “How about on Thursday?”
- Auditions and a dinner with my manager. Lee answered, sounding even sadder now.
- Ah… okay… you stated and nodded. You checked out the time and cursed silently that you were already almost fifteen minutes behind your schedule. “Well… I really have to get going or else I will be late from work.” you stated and opened the door to the corridor. “Please, lock the door behind you when you’ll…” you said and when you left the apartment you mumbled with a barely audible tone “…Leave.” Lee watched you exiting the apartment and cursed aloud after he had closed the door.
