“the exit isn’t safe! you shouldn’t play here!”
edd said, as he dragged a girl named y/n back
up to the top floor of the house. even though
they were the same age, edd treated y/n like
a child, as she was stuck in the ruins like one,
being watched over by an anxious mother.
y/n walked back up the stairs. she saw matt picking
through a bookshelf, and she tapped on his shoulder.
he turned around and his glasses sat on the tip of his
button nose. “well, hello friend! what knowledge do
you seek?” matt said, and y/n frowned.
“what’s… beyond the house, matt?” y/n asked. matt
stiffens up, and looks around. he looks the girl in the eye. blue pupils locking with (e/c) ones. “i’m not allowed to say.. but all i know is that the outside is dangerous. our clones have gone mad, and now think they’re the real us.”
y/n pouted and went to go see tom in the kitchen, mixing some sort of concoction and dipping his finger into the batter. y/n tugged on his jacket. “hi y/n..” tom mumbled. he gave her a soft smile as he finally put the pie tin into the oven.
“no, i heard you and matt. not allowed to talk about the ruins. edd’s business, you know?” the brit said, sitting down at the dining room table. y/n began to grow frustrated, and shoved past tord on her way to the living room, where edd sat reading a book.
“what’s her issue?” tord asked. “she wants to leave the ruins..” tom said.
“oh… edd’s going to be heartbroken..”
…
“go back upstairs y/n, it’s not safe..” edd said, as he turned a corner down the hallway to the exit of the ruins. y/n still followed. “you shouldn’t be here. i’m going to destroy the exit to these ruins. no one will ever leave again. if you leave, they, the red leader and our clones (his goons), will kill you.”
the two threw arguments at each other, until edd turned around to find y/n still following him. tom, matt, and tord peaked from around the corner, watching edd’s eyes become glossy with tears.
“i can’t even save a single soul.. such a terrible fate for someone who has such a heart of gold…” edd said. he blinked, tears now streaming down his face. y/n’s face grew into a concerned look.
“fine. you want to leave the ruins so badly?” edd asked. y/n didn’t respond.
“then prove yourself.”
“prove to me you’re able to survive on your own.” the three peaking down the corner of the hall exchanged worries glances. they all knew edd had the most powerful attacks, since he was their protecter.
edd bit his lip, showing that he was holding back tears. the more and more the attacks he threw at y/n, the more times she spared him. she was giving him mercy, while he was deliberately attacking her.
y/n gasped when she felt a shock shoot through her body. edd clasped a hand over his mouth, green jacket now covered with red. the girl brought a hand to her chest, and she fell to her knees.
“he killed her…” tom said, as matt turned away to shed a few tears. tord patted the ginger’s back. y/n fell flat to the ground, and edd shrieked in horror. he had just killed another human. something he vowed never to do, unlike his future counterpart living above the ruins.
…
the brunette carried y/n’s cold, limp body down to the bed of red, thornless roses at the entrance of the ruins. edd gently laid the girl in the flowers, watching her body fade away into the bed of roses.
it was like watching a mother have her child be taken away from her. “edd..?” tord said, reaching to put a hand on his friend’s shoulder. the taller man stood up, clenching what seemed to be a (silver/gold) necklace with a (f/c) charm in his hand.
”i think i need some time alone, you guys..” edd said. his friends left him alone for the rest of the day, leaving edd to find a special place in his room for the girl who lived on in his heart.
