It had been a long night, eight hours of pain and struggling for Morana but now she laid against Striga who had been by her side all night and cleaned them up gently. She looked at the tiny vampire in her arms, gasping when they opened to blue and green. “Heterochromia.” Striga said softly, she had been purring gently to sooth her wife and newborn child. “What do we name her?”
“I like Sophie. What do you think?” The older woman smiled up at her wife, feeling safe but also tired.
Striga chuckled and nodded. “You were in labor for eight hours; you did all the hard work so it’s only fair you choose her name.” She leaned down to kiss Morana gently. “It’s beautiful darling, now rest and get some sleep.”
Morana hummed and nodded and closed her eyes, quickly falling asleep. She trusted Striga to watch over them and keep away unwanted company.
___
All four of the sisters were sitting together and talking, a warm fire was burning, and everyone was full, including Sophie who was swaddled and in Striga’s arms who looked down at her daughter. She was laughing softly at a joke Lenor made as she brushed a thumb over the baby's face.
She froze when Sophie smiled and laughed at her mother. The baby vampire didn’t need to understand what they were saying, she just decided to laugh with the giant woman holding her. She was confused when both her mothers were crying and laughing at the same time, but she was warm and safe, so she just kept giggling innocently with them.
___
Everyone was sitting on the floor with Sophie in her aunty Lenor’s lap. It was when she dragged herself out of her lap and shuffled on her over to Morana that they all stopped talking, it was daunting how strong how she was already and yet so tiny. She was driven like Morana but strong like Striga, a powerful mix that would be when she got older.
___
The whole castle knew Sophie was teething, if she wasn’t screaming then she would be chewing on something. Said baby's chew toy was Striga’s fingers, anyone's fingers made her happy, but Striga’s were the best. She hadn't noticed her mother's start to dose off no when someone gasped in surprise.
Striga opened Sophie’s mouth gently and chuckled when she saw two tiny points. “Her fangs are growing in.” she cooed and kissed her daughter’s head.
“Really?” Morana looked, grinning excitedly. “Feeding is going to become painful now.” Despite her words she was proud of their daughter and how quickly she was growing.
___
Five minutes, that’s all Striga and Morana wanted. Five fucking minuets but they found out that tonight was the end of that. The wives had snuck off to the library to quietly spend some time alone found out that their daughter had climbed out of her crib and followed them, laughing when she crawled over and sat at their feet.
“This is just cruel.” Striga sighed and picked up Sophie. “Can’t even sneak off to make out now.” She pouted when her arm was smacked lightly by her wife, it didn’t hurt but it still bruised her ego.
“Don’t be like that, she just wants to with us.” Morana frowned at her wife; she was the only one who could make Striga ashamed.
“I know, and I’m glad that she’s growing so well but I need Lenore to take her tonight because as much as I love our little nipper.” She chuckled as Sophie started chewing on her fingers. “I need it to just be us later, I miss making love to you.”
The shorter wife blushed and nodded. “I won’t complain... Let's go talk to Lenore then.” While Carmilla would happily watch over Sophie and help care for her they knew asking her to take the child for a day would be too much for the alabaster woman, so they only had one choice for now.
___
It had been a shit night; they had a meeting with some king, and he was a total prick. It took everything to not just kill the bastard, but they didn’t want war nor to endanger the youngest of the family, so they let him live for now.
Striga was currently feeding Sophie some fruit when the child decided to grab a black berry and feed herself, it took Striga a moment to realize what has happening with her exhausted brain but then she grabbed Moranas arm gently. “Love, look.”
Sophie’s face was a mess with juice, but she was happy and kicked her feet in content as her tired mothers watched, she had been antsy during the meeting but had been well behaved otherwise. Striga later joked that it was because she takes after Morana so much for if she was more like her larger mother then Sophie would have been throwing a fit.
___
Sophie was playing under the table quietly while the others were going over some work together when Lenore felt tugging on her skirt, she looked down and smiled as she met a pair of miss matched eyes. “Sisters, look under the table.”
They looked and Sophie squealed with laughter as she was picked up and covered in kisses by her mothers. “Look at you; So big and strong.” Striga laughed, tears in her eyes as she held both her wife and child close.
“She’s growing so quickly, she must get that from you.” Morana purred and kissed Striga, flipping off whoever made a retching noise before nuzzling the child. “So strong and powerful, like her ma.”
Striga couldn’t help but puff her chest slightly at the words and grinned. “You’re the stronger one love.”
___
The wives were currently at the common table in their room, Morana was re-writing some transcripts while Striga was looking over a map when their daughter crawled over and stood, Sophie held her arms out to Morana and whined softly. “Mama.”
Morana set down her pen and picked up the child, chuckling softly when she nuzzled her chest and let her feed. “She’s growing so quickly, always leaves me amazed.”
Striga hummed and nodded. “You both do that.” She laughed as her wife blushed and swatted at her. “I mean it, you both leave me in awe constantly.”
“As do you, my love.” Morana took Striga’s hand in her own free hand. “You’re a brilliant woman.”
It was Striga’s turn to be bashful and rub her neck shyly. “I guess we’re both brilliant then, and she’ll be even more so.”
“She will be.” The older woman agreed. “Sophie will be the best of us all.”
___
Striga was training in the main yard with Morana, Sophie was with Carmilla and Lenore as they watched. The baby was getting restless and anxious, wanting to be with her mothers and that was when she slipped out of Carmilla’s grasp that it happened; Sophie landed on her rump and stood before suddenly running off after her parents. They both froze mid charge and dropped their swords and walked over to their child who stood there looking at them innocently.
“Shouldn't she be walking first?” Striga asked in confusion as she picked up Sophie.
Morana could only shrug as she processed what she saw. “I’m not sure... I’ll read up on it later.” she shook her head and laughed in disbelief. “You’re as impossible as your ma.”
Sophie giggled as her cheek was kissed and nuzzled into the warmth easily, she didn’t fully understand what they were saying but she knew they were proud and loved her so that’s all that mattered to her.
