Chapter 2
“So you're just going to let them in your house? Are you crazy?!” God, this girl.
Ellie has been screaming breathlessly for the past five minutes, and even though she's my sister - even though we're not blood related - I'm unsure whether to bang her head against the wall or the table. “ Ellie ,” I said, contemplating the last sip of my coffee mug . "Enough." She turned to me and her face took a disgusted look with the mug in my hand, “Are you still drinking that shit?” said. “I don't even know why you'd do this anyway, I'm disappointed - “ The room, Ellie in particular, fell silent when I suddenly threw the dagger I was playing in my hand in her direction, causing it to plunge into the wall as I expected. “I've been patient with you from day one, but I said I wouldn't let you disrespect me, Ellie .” I was two years older than her and there were times when she called me big sister when we were alone. This was a big deal for Ellie , she didn't like to show her love in words. I understood him, he was worried but we all were.
“I'm sorry Jane,” he said, turning my gaze to our old man and saying, “I'm sorry Joel.” "I'm just worried, why did FEDRA send us two civilians?" Joel had his hand on his chin and was playing with his beard, which he carefully avoided cutting—which, as with most things, he really had an old man's stubbornness. “Someone could be one of them. Maybe their daughters, maybe their siblings. I don't know, but they are not infected and they need help." He looked at us both. “Just like when you helped each other out. So don't be mean and show them your hospitality by being a good boy.” Ellie grunted but said nothing, and I shrugged as Joel rolled his eyes at me. “I'll get them something to eat,” I said, standing up. As I left the room, I couldn't hold back my smile any longer.
She would stay here.
