Long Night
Five slumped down into the chair looking exhausted. Viktor nodded to himself before turning to Five. His brother may be an adult but his body is 13 and it’s time he took care of himself.
“Alright you go to bed, Diego showers down the hall, Lila when he’s done you can go. Hey Elliot, could you watch the girls so I can go get Allison?” Viktor asked his friend.
“Um… About that… Police were called to her resident and they arrested her husband,” Elliot muttered. He shifted from one foot to the other as his nerves built in him. Viktor mimicked breathing for a moment to get him to calm down.
“Okay you watch the girls and I’ll go bail out Ray. Everything will be okay,” Viktor said before he turned back to the remaining people. “Five if you aren’t in bed by the time I get home, no coffee for a week. You may be an adult but your body isn’t and you need rest.”
Viktor didn’t wait for a response. He drove to the police station in near silence. So much has happened in such a short period of time. He got his lover (?) back and his brother and now he was getting his sister back. His sister who hadn’t reached out since the day they ran into each other.
He sighed as he parked in front of the police station. He went in and saw his sister getting dismissed by the racist cops. He walked up next to his sister. She barely had time to process that he was there before the officer noticed him.
“How can I help you today ma’am?” He asked. Viktor cringed internally.
“I’m here to pay Raymond Chestnuts bail,” he spoke clearly in a no nonsense way that Grace used to tell them to eat their veggies.
“Are you sure you want to bail out his kind?” The officer asked with a slight sneer. Viktor leveled a look at him only a parent could give. This kid had to be around 20 and just starting out in his career. Viktor honestly felt bad that he was raised with so much hate in his heart.
“Son, you come to realize there is little you won’t do for your family. Now may I please bail out my brother-in-law,” He said as he slipped his hand into Allison’s. She jerked back from him like he had burned her. Make a mental note to talk to her about that later he passed the money over to the officers.
The two of them stepped to the side. He turned to his sister and looked her up and down. She looked beyond pissed off. He took a deep breath. He hated to be the one to start conversations.
“What happened?” Viktor asked quietly. Allison's eyes glared at him slightly before softing.
“I tossed a racist white guy out of the salon and he blamed it on Ray and they arrested him,” she said with a sigh. “I hate it here Viktor. I want to go home.”
“Five showed up today,” he said quietly but whatever he was going to say next was cut off quickly by their lost sibling.
“Is that Mis hermanas?” Klaus asked as he ambled over to them. Smiles replaced the gloom that had fallen over the two. Klaus always had a way of making things better.
“Tu hermana y tu hermano. How are you Klaus?” Viktor said, hugging his sibling. Allison hugged him next with a small smile.
“Can’t complain. What are you two doing here?” They said as they plopped down in a waiting room chair. Their limbs did as they pleased like they had most of their lives and the feeling of normality calmed Viktor’s nerves more than he could say.
“Bailing out my husband,” Allison said before she took off. The two brothers followed their lone sister as she hugged and kissed the man that was obviously her husband.
“Oh him? Yeah we had a lovely talk in the cell. What up man?” Klaus asked the obviously confused man.
“Ray these are my brothers. Klaus and Viktor. Viktor Klaus this is Ray my husband,” Allison said as she looked up as if praying that this went over well.
“A pleasure to meet you finally. The girls would be thrilled to see their Aunt Allison again. Especially now that their Uncle Five and their dad are home. They would love to meet their uncle Klaus as well. Lord knows they love stories about you,” Viktor said as he tried to steer his siblings to his car. Ray followed behind gobsmacked.
“What about Luther?” Allison asked softly as she and Ray slipped into the back seat.
“I’m sending Diego after him tomorrow. He was apparently rather rude when Five went to get him,” Viktor said with a sigh. He really just wanted to get home to his daughters. They were probably asleep or getting there due to the late hour but he wanted to hold them.
“Are we sure Five didn’t start it?” Klaus asked with a giggle. He knew all too well what his brothers were like. Allison sighed and nodded. The two sets of twins in their family were rather odd and sometimes needed a third party intervention.
“Honestly can’t say for sure. I was too busy busting Diego out of the psych ward,” Viktor said as he pulled up to Elliot’s. Viktor unlocked the back door and held it open for his siblings. They all paused when Ray wouldn’t go through the door.
“This is a whites only establishment,” He said as he glanced between his wife and his supposed in-laws.
“What no it’s not,” Viktor snorted. “It hasn’t been since Elliot’s ex-wife left. She was a big time racist but Elliot’s place is a safe place for anyone who needs it.” With that they got Ray through the door. He was still rather cautious as he went. They made it up the staircase and Viktor motioned for them to stay quiet. There in the middle of the room was Diego singing softly to Maria.
“Dos oruguitas desorientadas
En dos capullos bien abrigadas
Con sueños nuevos
Ya solo falta hacer lo necesario
En el mundo que sigue cambiando
Tumbando sus paredes
Ahí viene nuestro milagro
Nuestro milagro
Nuestro milagro
Nuestro milagro,” Diego stopped when he noticed them and chuckled softly. “She was still a little fussy. Gracie went down as soon as her head hit the pillow. So did Five for that matter.”
Viktor smiled as he crossed to the man that held his heart for so many years. He gently took their daughter from him and gave him a kiss on the check. “Please make yourselves at home. I’m going to lay her down. It looked like all she needed was time with her daddy,” Viktor said before walking to the girls room. He missed the way that Diego lit up with pride but his siblings didn’t.
“So you got our littlest bro pregnant? With twins?” Klaus asked with a smirk.
“In all fairness to both of us we didn’t know. He found out when he got to the 60’s,” Diego said quickly.
“What does he mean ‘got to the 60’s?’ Allison, what is going on?” Ray all but demanded. It had put all three brothers on high alert. Viktor crossed over to the group nearly silently.
“Wrong energy,” Klaus mumbled to the space just left of him.
“Is Ben here?” Viktor asked softly. Klaus looked from the point to his left then back to Viktor a few times before nodding. He knew his twin wouldn’t ask him to use his powers if he didn’t want to. Which was one of the saving graces with Viktor being his twin. He knew how much his powers drained him.
“Hi Ben,” Viktor said, waving to the seemingly empty space. He turned back to his brother-in-law with a sigh. “Do you want the true answer or the easy answer?”
“The true answer please,” Ray said with an almost hysterical laugh.
“We traveled back in time from 2019 to stop the apocalypse I unintentionally started but Five miscalculated and stranded us in different points in the 60’s,” Viktor said easily as he floated a bottle of scotch toward the group. He poured a glass for Ray, Allison, and Diego before closing it again and using his powers to levitate the drinks to them. Ray chugged it down. He has a feeling it’s going to be a long night.
