It wasn’t a new sight when the two prestigious figures clashed in the room. It wasn’t a new sight for the others to see the two most famous lawyers in the firm talking back at each other. Actually, it wasn’t a new sight when Chaewon raised her brow and voice to Heejin when they met in the corridor. Actually, in reality, it wasn’t a new sight for their circle of friends to see Chaewon have a bad temper whenever she met Heejin at the building even if the latter hadn't done anything to her. It was just Chaewon having a grievance towards the latter and is spiteful of it whenever they are in a fight.
Sure they are professionals, they swore to be competent and yes they are indeed but whenever Chaewon saw Heejin in the building there’s just something within her that made her childish and drop all the rationality within her just so she could spite the other who in return just kept everything cool. But with that, Chaewon just became more furious on how come Heejin can keep cool after their break up? Actually Heejin didn’t agree with it and said they are just having a break for a moment. It wasn’t a new sight to see both of them debating at the meeting room and this sight started right after their break a few days ago. All in all, it’s been 3 days since then.
“Want some ice for your head?” Jiwoo asked Chaewon who raised her brow at the older and took a seat beside her.
“So… what happened?”
Jiwoo being Chaewon’s sort of diary shared what happened before they met. The thing was, while on her way she collided with Heejin that resulted in the bulk papers that the latter was carrying to be scattered all over the floor.
Flashback
Chaewon was on her way to meet Jiwoo during lunch time. She’s walking fast in the corridor while eyes and attention is on her phone, probably messaging Jiwoo that she’s on her way. She already calculated that she’ll reach her in about 3 minutes but what she didn’t anticipate was to bump into Heejin who was also walking fast with numerous cases and papers at her front.
“What the! Don’t you look at where you are walking!?”
“Hey, I’m sorry.”
Hearing that very familiar voice got Chaewon fuming, “What!? Do you think you could just walk everywhere? Be considerate to others and try looking at the front so that you won’t bump into them!”
“For the record, I couldn’t see properly because the papers were blocking my sight. I also said sorry, why are you even mad.” Heejin replied calmly, contrasting how high and unrest Chaewon’s voice is.
“Why did you even carry it all, you could have just carried half and got back for the rest. Problem solved! Then there shouldn’t be an accident like this!”
“I was in a hurry okay. And I was kind of having a hard time carrying so I was putting too much focus on not dropping anything.”
“You and your inability to multitask. The heck you are having a hard time, you can even lift kilograms of weight so don’t give me that excuse!”
The truth is, Heejin saw Chaewon. She purposely bumps into her lightly but with how fast they both are walking, physics kind of ruined her plan to just annoy the other a little.
“Oh… so you still know things about me.”
“Of course I know everything about you!”
It wasn’t supposed to get out from her mouth but damn words just escaped suddenly. Seeing Heejin look at her with an inexplicable smile, the red hue decided to come out from her whole face. She’s embarrassed and as always, she ran away, “Fuck you!”
“Did you ever let Heejin explain herself?” Jiwoo asked Chaewon, who slowly calmed down.
“For what? I saw her with another girl. Even from a distance I know that the person was Heejin, hugging and kissing another girl.” Chaewon let out a bitter chuckle after remembering the scene that keeps playing in her mind every hour. It’s like her system has an alarm to play that particular scene when an hour has passed so she really can’t forget it.
“What if it was all just a misunderstanding. You even told me that it was slightly dark so you didn’t clearly see everything.” Chaewon did think about it but her pride just won’t let her have a peace of mind and continue being stubborn.
“Just an advice, which I probably told you everyday since your break with Heejin, hear her out. I know her, she’s a great person and from what I can see she really loves you. I also know how she keeps on looking at you after work to talk but you keep on avoiding her.”

Chaewon and Heejin became friends during freshman years in college. Knowing both of them like to pursue the same career, they became closer as they kept on spending time together to review and do school work together. As they kept on having memories, Heejin kept on falling for the other while the other was just focused on her studies.
It was during 3rd year when Chaewon got in her first relationship and first heartbreak. She swears that she’ll just focus on her studies until she graduates before she gets in a relationship but maybe because she’s quite naive when it comes to romance that she was swayed by the flowery words of her first lover, thinking back it was cringy with how the guy said some lines he’s proud of when in fact Chaewon saw it already online.
They got together after their graduation when Heejin finally got the courage to ask the other. Chaewon kind of knew her feelings for the other is not just as a friend and there is something more so she decided to try and as they keep on having dates she finally realized and was enlightened on how she truly loves Heejin.
Heejin was with her all throughout her ups and down. Heejin was there even when she kept on shooing her away because her friend knows how she needs someone at the moment right after she knew that her boyfriend was cheating on her. She knows she’s been throwing painful words at the other yet Heejin doesn’t leave her and she’s thankful for that. Heejin knows Chaewon hates cheaters and yet why did the latter see her kissing another girl?
Heejin saw how badly broken she was yet how can she do that to her? Chaewon knows her flaws, she knows how bad her mood swings are and how childish she is sometimes, or maybe it was frequent whenever it was only her and Heejin. She’s afraid that Heejin might have had enough and choose to find someone better, someone who is not childish and someone who doesn’t have mood swings and is mature unlike her.
Yet Chaewon knows Heejin. She knows that the other won’t cheat on her if ever she falls out of love. She knows Heejin will tell her about it rather than to cheat on her but fear just took over her entire being. She’s way too afraid to know that maybe Heejin did have enough of her and choose another person. She’s too afraid to experience another heartbreak.
Pondering about what Jiwoo keeps on telling her, she’s thinking of a great time where she’s ready to face Heejin and talk with her. Currently on her way to her office, she saw Heejin walking together with someone quite familiar. It was Ryujin, if she remembers, Ryujin was Heejin’s friend at college together with Hyunjin and the three of them are like the dumb, dumber, and dumbest trio.
Heejin and Ryujin were walking in front of her so Chaewon knew that the two didn’t know her presence because they were too engrossed in whatever they were talking about. She saw how Heejin laughed wholeheartedly and at that moment jealousy took over her. What more was when Chaewon saw Ryujin’s figure and remembered the figure looks the same as someone she saw Heejin kissed.
The only thing Chaewon is seeing right now is red. Her feet brought her behind Heejin and she suddenly pulled the latter, “Let’s talk.”
It’s the classic, Chaewon pulled Heejin to the nearest empty room in the hallway and the latter didn’t even fight back because It’s the time she’s been waiting for, to have a talk with Chaewon. But when Chaewon locked the door behind her, Heejin didn’t expect for the other to launch herself to her and capture her lips for a kiss. It’s not like she’s against it, in fact she misses it, so Heejin kissed back at first but then remembered she needed to clear things first before anything else.
Heejin pulled back slowly in order to talk. “Let’s talk first.”, she said, but Chaewon, it’s like it’s not in her plan to actually talk with her like she said and continue to kiss her again.
They kept on making out until the noise outside was slightly increasing in volume so Chaewon decided to stop and left, not even saying anything. After that incident, Heejin still continued looking for her after work to actually talk but Chaewon still avoided her.
The incident then keeps on happening after that day before the work hours for two days. Both actually go to work early and is it a coincidence or what but whenever Chaewon arrives at the building, Heejin is always walking in front of her and being slightly opportunist she is Chaewon always took this chance to pull Heejin with her.
It’s been days and the thing was, Chaewon just can’t stay still and was way too occupied with Heejin in her mind. Is it wrong if she said that she just wants to keep on kissing the other when as a matter of fact she’s the one who suddenly broke up with Heejin without even letting the other talk and just drop the bomb. At the moment, she is determined to actually have a talk with Heejin so she went to the other’s office.
Knocking at the door twice before opening it to see Heejin talking with Ryujin inside her office. There was red but Chaewon closed her eyes and decided to calm herself before jealousy ate her up again.
“Thanks, Ryu! Just message me the rest of the details, you can go now.”
Chaewon waited for Ryujin to get out of the room first before entering fully Heejin’s office.
“If you wanna talk, hon, stop abusing my lips and make sure to actually talk.”
Chaewon cleared her throat out of embarrassment before saying, “I’m here to actually talk.”
“Finally! So why did you suddenly tell me you’re breaking up with me.”
“You know, I hate cheaters right? I was too afraid when I saw you kissing someone outside your house last week. Then it dawned on me that it was Ryujin, your ex!”
At this point, Heejin really wanted to laugh out loud but seeing how serious Chaewon is right now she swallowed that laugh right away. “You’re making a mistake.”
“Probably, but I saw you and Ryujin together! I know that I hate cheaters but I just love you too much and I can’t take it to be away from you. So, kiss me like your ex.”
Minute passed since Chaewon’s outburst but they were just standing there, no one was doing anything.
“What now!?” Chaewon asked.
“But hon, I don’t have any ex. There’s a misunderstanding here.”
Chaewon was baffled with what Heejin told her, “B-but Hyun said she was your ex…”
“Oh! That fucker, it was a joke between us. But you know, hon, you don’t have to be jealous of Ryu or anyone else because you’re my first love and definitely my last. And you know, you can just ask me for a kiss, I will kiss you like the love of my life. Come here…”
Chaewon compiled and let herself melt in Heejin’s embrace, “By the way, hon, no way I’ll kiss someone else. What you saw was probably me pinching Ryu's cheek hard for forgetting her and Yeji’s anniversary, her girlfriend.”
So all her jealousy was just for a naught, she came to the conclusion too fast not even hearing Heejin’s explanation. She sobbed in Heejin’s embrace out of guilt that made the latter chuckle.
“Shh… don’t worry about it, hon, I know already that it’s the time of the month that’s why your mood swings are intense.”
“Is it already the 12th?” Chaewon asked in between her quiet sobs.
“Yes it is, I already have your favorite snack and favorite movie ready.”
Touched with how Heejin was always keeping tabs on her and whatever is going on with her, Chaewon just can’t hold back to tell her lover how much she loves and appreciates her, “I love you.”

Jiwoo just want to ask for Heejin’s help with a case but what she witness inside the girl’s office was her and her moody girlfriend making out so she just decided to leave and ask for their other friend’s help because she knows the two won’t be finish any minute and for sure will ask for early leave today knowing it was the start of Chaewon’s time of the month. Well, they really don’t have to ask considering they are also one of those who made the firm together with their friends. Also, believe it or not, all of their friends keep tabs on her cycle knowing how intense her mood swing is so it’s not a surprise anymore to them.
