Healed
"We- We need Thorn. She can heal her, Ivy-" Firestorm spoke up, dashing over to Mumble, profusely worried.
Ivy barely turned to look at her- much less respond.
"G...Go!" Ivy yelled as she choked on her own words, crying as she held Mumble in her arms.
Firestorm only nodded, uneasy but determined, dashing throughout the small, closed off section off the forest-
She charged through vines, trees, and bushes- she only left a blazing, scorched walkway of ash in her wake.
She had to be at her best- She had to be in time- She couldn't afford to go slow.
She's gotta go fast.
Eventually, Firestorm reached a barrier- a thick wall of vines blocking any exit from the cut off part of the jungle.
Furious, she mustered up all the energy she had, grunting as she began to scorch the vines- Tense as her energy was slowly fading.
It took alot of her power- Getting there in time, and burning through the wall-
But it eventually collapsed.
And a sound was heard through the forest.
A scream.
A yell.
A call.
The sound of roaring flames, igniting the floors around Firestorm.
Thorn was immediately alerted- stunned, sitting in the heart of the forest and now on edge and angry, calling for her bird.
Firestorm was kneeling on the ground- creating a pillar of flames around her- doing anything she could to gather attention.
She knew it was dangerous- She knew it could get her killed or banished, but couldn't give up.
She couldn't let Mumble or Ivy down, or she'd never forgive herself.
They were some of the only hopeful, kind people she met- They genuinely cared for eachother, no matter what- And now they were losing eachother.
She'd rather die than fail them.
Firestorm dug her flaming claws into the dirt to keep herself grounded as a rush of wind hit her, extinguishing some of the flames.
It was Thorn- riding her bird, wielding her hammer as she stared at the fire spirit.
"You shouldn't have tried that." Thorn barked at Firestorm, tightening her grip on her hammer as she walked closer to Firestorm, who stopped the fire.
"You're weak, now, aren't you, Firestorm!?" Thorn continued, yelling at Firestorm- who was slowly getting up from the ground.
"You've wasted your energy, and for what? Yourself? To harm my forest once more?" Thorn spoke, Firestorm replying in a furious, disgruntled and impatient tone soon after-
Firestorm couldn't wait.
There was no time to wait- no time to bicker.
"Thorn."
"This isn't the time for this. Mumble is dying- bleeding out on the forest floor. You can banish me, you can banish Mumble, you can even banish Ivy- you can do anything you want, but do it later. We need you to heal her."
"And I'm not asking." She spoke, baring her teeth as flames sparked from her mouth, her hands moving into the shape of a fist, uttering a low growl as she waited for a response.
Thorn was nervous- she tried to hide it, but it was visible.
She was scared, if only slightly.
Cautiously putting away her hammer and gritting her teeth, Thorn begrudgingly replied,
"Fine."
Firestorm didn't budge-
"Good. We've got to get there- fast."
Was the only thing she spoke before she was gone in a burning flame, engulfing the plants, trees, and grass she sped past as she ran-
It was as if she was consuming it, using it as fuel for her power.
Thorn began to run beside her, trailing behind-
Firestorm would never usually do this.
Consume the forest for fuel-
For strength.
But now?
She didn't have a choice.
Ivy was almost blinded by the bright, stunning flames as Firestorm approached, Thorn alongside her.
The fire quickly dissipated as Firestorm rushed over to Mumble, not saying a word as she turned to Thorn with a disgusted and furious gaze.
Thorn walked over- almost turning pale as she examined Mumble's wound, horrified.
Was this her fault?
Did she did this?
Did she cause thi-
No.
She couldn't think like that.
She wouldn't allow herself to think like that.
It was the scavengers- Their greed, it did this.
It almost killed Mumble.
"I- I need to gather some supplies. They're in my satchel I'll go grab it-" Thorn said nervously, almost panicking as she gazed over Mumble's bleeding wound, Tangle having moved her tail so Thorn could examine it.
"Then GATHER them." Firestorm yelled at Thorn, hissing as flames sparked around her, fire almost jumping towards Thorn.
Thorn nodded, rushing over to her leather satchel that sat around her bird's neck, gathering multiple bandages and somewhat primitive medical supplies.
She then took away the ivy- Firestorm wincing slightly as she did so, Ivy closing her eyes and gritting her teeth.
Thorn then cleaned the wound to the best of her ability, trying to stave off any infections- before bandaging it and using the leftover bandages to form a makeshift cast, for Mumble's arm.
"She's...she's gonna make it." Thorn said as she felt somewhat relieved- still tense, however, thanks to Firestorm's presence, alongside the wound she still feels guilty for.
Firestorm glanced at Mumble before turning to Thorn, standing with an intimidating stare.
"Good." She spoke, Ivy holding Mumble in her arms as she slowly stopped crying, listening to Mumble's heartbeat to help calm herself.
"...Ivy...I'm-" Thorn began to say, before being cut off by an upset, tired, and scruffy Ivy, who replied,
"No. Don't even try and apologize. We'll leave your forest soon- just- let her...rest.", almost biting her tongue as she spoke, trying to focus on Mumble.
Thorn looked on at the three of them as she went over to her bird, staring at them with a sombre expression.
She felt guilty.
But they didn't want her to stay.
Not anymore.
Not after everything she's done.
"Leave." Hissed Firestorm, turning to Thorn as Mumble began to move.
Thorn left, her heart heavy from guilt-
Firestorm was furious, but knew she had to focus on Ivy and Mumble's safety first,
and Ivy just wanted Mumble to be alive.
That's all she ever wanted.
To be together again-
To be happy again.
The three had endured alot,
Pain,
Hurt,
And misery.
But they'd endured.
They got through it.
And they knew things would only get better from here.
Because, for once,
They were together.
All of them.
And they'd never let eachother be hurt again.
