Teddy's First Day - Remadora
“Ellie, pass me the flour, will you?” Tonks asked.
The five-year-old with bright blue hair, today, grabbed the bag of flour off of the counter and brought it over to her mother.
“Thank you, sweet pea,” Tonks said.
The little girl didn’t respond, just stood next to her mother and watched. She watched her mother add all of the ingredients into the bowl and stir them. Eventually, while Tonks mixed, Ellie got bored of watching and started to sway her hips from side to side.
“So we’re dancing now, are we?” Tonks asked when she saw her daughter’s movement. “All right, let’s do it.”
Tonks picked the bowl up off of the counter and moved her hips in the same circular motion that she was mixing in. Ellie giggled and continued to move her hips back and forth, faster now. Ellie also threw her hands up over her head and waved them in time with her hips.
Tonks spun around and dribbled a little of the pancake batter in the bowl onto a heated frying pan. She set the bowl down, grabbed a spatula, and pointed it towards her daughter as if it was a wand.
“Dance!” Tonks said. Ellie giggled at her mother’s pretend jinx and started dancing even wilder, her arms shaking about everywhere and jumping around in circles.
Tonks joined her in her strange actions as she kept an eye on the stove to make sure the pancakes weren’t burning.
“Mum, have you seen my tie?” Teddy called from the other room.
“In your father’s office!” Tonks called back as she continued dancing.
Tonks and Ellie could hear the doors open and close in the rest of the house as Teddy searched for his things. Today was the day Teddy would take his first Hogwarts Express ride. No matter how many times Tonks and Remus assured him that everything would be fine, Teddy still worried.
“Mama, how come Teddy is so scared?” Ellie asked as she danced around her mother in circles.
“Oh, he’s not scared. He’s just nervous,” Tonks said, flipping a pancake.
“But why? You and Daddy say that Hogwarts is the best place in the world,” Ellie said.
“And it is. But it’s new for Teddy, he’s never been. Once he’s there a little while he’ll see what a wonderful place it is,” Tonks said.
“I can’t wait until I can go,” Ellie said. She picked up the spatula that her mom had just set down and flourished it around in the air. “Expelliarmus!”
“Not bad,” Tonks said. “Your wand looks a bit wonky, though.”
Ellie giggled and set the spatula back down.
“Is he still bustling about, all nervous?” Remus asked as he stepped into the kitchen.
“Daddy!” Ellie called and ran to her father. Remus scooped her up and held her on his hip. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and Ellie giggled when his stubble tickled her.
“Yes, I suspect he’s going to have a fit before we even get to King’s Cross,” Tonks said. She took the cooked pancakes out of the pan, and added more batter.
“Daddy, I want to go to Hogwarts,” Ellie said. She pouted at her father, knowing that normally gets her what she wants.
“You have to wait until you’re old enough, princess,” Remus said.
“How long is that?” Ellie asked.
“Six more years, I’m afraid,” Remus said.
Ellie sighed and slumped herself over her father’s shoulder.
“I want to be big now!” Ellie said.
“No, don’t say that. We want you to be our little girl forever and ever,” Tonks said as she walked over and tickled her daughter’s sides.
Ellie laughed and wiggled in her father’s arms.
“Is breakfast ready?” Teddy asked as he walked into the room.
“Yes, it is. Take a seat, the lot of you,” Tonks said.
Remus sat Ellie down and the two of them joined Teddy at the kitchen table. Tonks came around and set a plate of pancakes in front of each of them, and a plate at the empty seat she would soon occupy.
“Is Unka Hawwy comin’ to Kinn’s Cwoss?” Ellie said through a mouthful of pancakes.
“Of course he is,” Remus said. “He wouldn’t miss seeing his godson off to Hogwarts for the world.”
“Is he bringing James?” Ellie asked.
“Perhaps he’ll bring James. Maybe you’ll get to see your little boyfriend,” Tonks said, smirking at her daughter.
Ellie blushed and put her hand over her eyes as she took another bite of pancakes.
“And Albus?” Teddy asked.
“Most likely not. Albus and Lily are too young to bring out to a crowded train platform. Ginny might stay home with them,” Remus said.
“Aw, I don’t get to see Aunt Ginny?” Ellie pouted.
“You can see her next week,” Teddy said. “Tell her I said hi.”
“We will,” Tonks said. “I’m sure she’ll be sending you tons of Quidditch supplies when the time comes.”
“What house do you wanna be in, Teddy?” Ellie asked.
Teddy sighed and shook his head. “I don’t know.”
“Not Slytherin!” Ellie said. “Snakes are icky.”
“Now, Ellie,” Remus started to say.
“I know, I know, not all Slytherins are bad! I just hate snakes! Ick!” Ellie said. Her poofy blue hair shook everywhere when cringed at the thought.

“I told Harry to look for my green hair,” Teddy said as he and his family walked past the barrier to get onto Platform 9 ¾.
“That looks more blue than green,” Ellie commented.
“It’s green,” Teddy shot back.
“Not now, you two,” Remus said.
“Harry! James!” Ellie screeched when she saw the pair.
She went running up to them and Harry caught her in his arms, squeezing her against his chest.
“Hello there, you,” Harry said.
“Hello,” Ellie said and booped him on the nose. Harry smiled and set her down so that he could hug the rest of her family.
“How you doing, Teddy? You ready?” Harry asked.
“I suppose,” Teddy said, toying with the baggage tag attached to his trunk.
“It’ll be fun!” James said.
Teddy smiled at the small James and nodded his head. “Yeah, I know.”
The train’s horn blew as a signal for everyone to board.
“All right, you,” Tonks said, putting her hands on her son’s shoulders. “Write if you need anything. Don’t forget to say hi to Neville and Headmistress McGonagall for us. We’ll miss you, Teddy.”
“I’ll miss you guys, too,” Teddy said.
“I love you,” Tonks said. She pulled Teddy in for a hug and kissed the top of his head.
“I love you too, Mum,” he said.
“Bye-bye, Teddy!” Ellie said. She hugged her brother tight and Teddy bent down to kiss into her frizzy blue hair.
“Bye, shortie. See you at Christmas,” Teddy said.
“You’re going to have a great time,” Harry said as Teddy hugged him.
“That’s what everyone keeps saying,” Teddy answered.
“That’s because it’s true,” Harry said. “See you at Christmas time. Love you.”
“Love you, too. And you too, squirt,” Teddy said, leaning down to give James a hug.
“Have fun, Teddy,” Remus said. Teddy leaned in and gave his dad a big hug.
“I will,” Teddy said.
“But not too much. I don’t want any reports from McGonagall that you’re more like Sirius than myself,” Remus said with a smile. Teddy chuckled.
“I’ll do my best,” Teddy said.
“Goodbye, Teddy. I love you,” Remus said. Remus placed a kiss on the top of Teddy’s head.
“I love you too, Dad,” Teddy said. He pushed his cart over to the train to let his things be boarded. He took one step up, looked back at his family, and gave one last wave before boarding.
Remus wrapped his arm around Tonks as they watched the train leave the station.
“He’s going to be in Hufflepuff, you know,” Tonks said.
“You think?” Remus asked.
“Yeah. Why, what do you think?” Tonks asked.
“I was going to say Gryffindor,” Remus said.
“No, this little one will be in Gryffindor,” Tonks said, taking Ellie by the shoulders and shaking her a little.
Remus laughed and placed a kiss to the side of his wife’s head.
“I love you,” he whispered to her.
“I love you, too,” Tonks said.
