Suit up, boys
"Do we have to, Pep?” Tony pouted, even though Pepper couldn’t possibly see him through the phone.
“Well, alright. Since you asked so nicely.” Tony relented. Pepper always knew exactly how to work Tony.
Tony remembered a time when the read head first came to the tower. With big eyes and uncertain actions. Back when she was still testing the waters.
She used to listen more to Tony.
But Pepper quickly got with the program.
She handled Tony like the handful that he was. It seemed like she understood him on a molecular level. Like she understood what made him tick.
Tony didn’t even understand what made him tick.
That’s why he had Pepper.
He trusted her. He listened to her.
After some grumbling, but still.
“Okay, I’ll tell them. See you there. Bye, Pepper.” Tony hung up the phone.
Another charity event to attend to. Great.
He hated those.
The only upside was that all Avengers were ordered to make an appearance.
That should spice the whole thing up.
Especially since Bucky would attend too, with him being the newest addition to the Avengers.
“JARVIS, tell everyone I want to see them for lunch, 1 p.m.”
“Right away, sir.”
“Thanks, J.”

“Buck, please let me go. It’s 10 in the morning! We have things to do.”
“No.”
“Oh, come on. Let’s go training or something.”
“I really don’t want to.” Bucky mumbled into Steve’s chest.
“You were never this lazy. Since when did that happen?”
“Since you are warm and cozy and I don’t feel like doing anything.”
Steve snorted, “Well, too bad for you. We have lunch at 1 and I want to train before that.”
“What I’m hearing is that we can stay in bed till 1. Cause I’m planning on doing just that.”
“You are incredibly lazy.”
Bucky couldn’t be bothered with a response, merely relaxing around Steve’s form.
“Twenty more minutes and I’m kicking you out of this bed. We are hitting the gym today.”
“I love you.” Bucky hummed, tracing random figures over Steve’s side.

“Alright folks,” Tony started, seeing that everyone was present at the table, “Just so you know, I don’t like this and Pepper made me do it.”
“What is it, Tony?” Natasha asked.
“We have a charity event tomorrow evening. Everyone has to come. You can take a plus one. It begins at 8 p.m. and ends somewhere around midnight.” Tony explained.
“Jep, I think I should get back to Afghanistan.” Sam said as he stood up.
“Take me, please!” Clint exclaimed dramatically.
“Come on guys, this’ll be fun.” Natasha reasoned. She fixed Tony with a knowing smirk. Tony wondered if she foresaw chaos.
Probably.
“Buck, you going?” Clint asked.
“Well, if Steve wants me there, I am.”
“Of course I do. I hate events. But prepare yourself. It’ll be boring as hell.” Steve warned.
“Our good American icon, hating charity?!” Bucky exclaimed with false indignation, “What has this country come to.”
“Events… I explicitly mentioned the ‘event’ part.” Steve sighed.
“Yeah, I’m gonna have to agree with the Captain on the ‘events are boring’ part. Why are we doing this again, Tony?” Bruce asked.
“Something about world peace, pretty pictures, I don’t know.” Tony shrugged before digging into some more toast.
“Great.” Bruce responded.

The smell of Bucky’s cologne filled the air. The rustling of a suit being straightened and a tied being tied was the only sound in the room before the door opened, “You ready, Buck?” Steve asked, looking down to straighten his cufflink before looking up at Bucky.
Steve blinked, staring and looking Bucky up and down a couple of times before finally finding his words again, “We should go to these events more often.”
Bucky huffed out a laugh, turning a circle on his heels to show off the suit, “You like it?”
Steve nodded enthusiastically, stepping closer to Bucky to pull him in by the waist and kiss him passionately.
“Don’t ruin my suit.” Bucky whispered with a soft smile before continuing, “You look like the perfect American.” Bucky smiled, straightening Steve’s blue tie. It complimented his eyes in the best way.
Steve smiled, taking his eyes off of Bucky’s tie, which was red, before grabbing Bucky’s hand, “I hate events, but seeing you lookin’ like this might just make it all worth it.”
“Might?” Bucky asked, following Steve into the elevator.
Steve answered with one of his brightest smiles.
A silence stretched between the two of them while Jarvis took them down to the garage, where they’d meet the others. Where they’d all pile themselves into this ridiculous limousine that Tony insisted they needed. For their image.
Steve wondered if maybe he just meant his own image.
Bucky scraped his throat, gaining Steve’s attention, who lifted an eyebrow.
“Can we-, I mean-“ Bucky pointed at their entangled hands.
Steve sighed with a soft smile, “I- yes. We can. I’ll talk to the press later.”
“I mean- we don’t have to. I’ll be fi-“ Bucky rambled before being interrupted by Steve, “I want to. I really do.” Steve hummed, leaning in for a quick kiss.

The garage was, of course, also ridiculously big. So was the shining white limousine, parked, waiting with open doors for the Avengers in their suits and dresses. Well. One dress.
Clint was dressed in a black suit, like Bucky and Steve, only Clint’s tie was a dark purple.
Sam wore a marine blue tux, a white blouse and a matching blue tie. Bruce had chosen a calming, stormy grey suit, complemented by a lighter grey tie.
Tony, ever the extravagant, was wearing a burgundy tux with gold accents, gold cufflinks and a striped tie. Blue and red. Complemented by his ever present sunglasses. Which were also gold, with a blueish hue in the glasses. His hair looked curly, mussed and a little windswept. It looked perfect.
All of the boys were outdone, however, by Natasha, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere, even managing to stay silent in his heels.
Her red her was curled and fell loose over her shoulders and back. Her radiant red hair a stunning combination with a deep emerald dress, clinging to her every curve. She wore a thin golden necklace with a golden arrow hanging from it.
Bucky wolf-whistled and Steve hummed, “You are a sight, Nat. Can’t recall a dame looking like you do.”
Natasha’s bloodred lips curled into a smirk, “Sweet talker.” She winked, “You fellas don’t look so bad yourselves.”
Bucky feigned tipping his hat and Steve smiled, “Thank you very much.”
“Stop drooling over my girl, would you?” Clint gave Bucky and Steve the stink-eye before guiding her towards the limousine.
Steve and Bucky laughed and followed them in.
“Everyone in?” Tony asked, counting heads. “Let’s get this party started.
