"Hey, Hey, Rui what are you doing for you're birthday? It's in a couple of days right?" Touko asked.
"Nothing, I find birthdays quite pointless, it's just another day to me." Rui responded.
"EHHHH, you cant just like- not celebrate you're birthday?!? It's totally important!!!" Said Touko
"It's not important to some people, also why go great lengths to celebrate you getting older? I just dont understand." Replied Rui
"Now, Now were getting off topic get back to studying I'll see you on Monday." Rui said packing up her bag.
Rui then left and instead of going back to reading over her science worksheets Touko had a great idea.
Why doesn't she throw Rui a little surprise party? It can just be small get together just her and Rui. Together.
Touko blushed at that thought and she packed up her things and hurried on home.
Once at home Touko got a notebook and started writing down the things she needed. Candles, matches, plates. silverware and cake. She wanted to bake a cake but she wasn't necessarily the best baker ever. So she decided on a store bought one. She wondered if Rui would like it as she went off to sleep.
The next morning Touko got up early to head to the store and buy the things she needed. She planned to invite Rui to her house on Sunday which was the day of her birthday. Then she would surprise her there.

After blowing all her money at the supermarket Touko then headed home to put the cake in the fridge hoping her mother wouldn't eat it. When she got home Touko got curious to see how the cakes design looked. She opened up the box to see the cake, it was small and round and it had the words "Happy birthday Rui!" written onto it in red icing. Decorated by light green flowers and white sugar pearl sprinkles, just like she requested. Touko's mouth watered by just looking at the cake. But she quickly shook her head in an attempt not to eat it.
Everything was set, all she just needed to do was to message Rui to come over tomorrow.
Touko: Hey Rui!!!! Are you free tomorrow? I need some help with my math homework T_T. Can you come over at like 6:00pm-ish?
She sent the message waiting for the reply.
The message was sent at 4:00pm, It was now 7:00pm. Nearly 3 whole hours and she still hasn't responded.
Touko waited and waited just about to fall asleep her phone chimed.
Touko nearly jumped off the couch finally she had replied!
Rui: Sure.
Touko: Ok!!!! See you!!!!!
Touko shut her phone off and let out a sigh of relief. Her plan was finally in motion. She couldn't wait for tomorrow to roll around.

Sunday, November 19. Rui's birthday. Touko nearly jumped out of bed with excitement. She raced to the kitchen to set up the tablecloth, plates, silverware and cups. She just couldn't wait for Rui to come. Only problem is Touko woke up at 7:00am, Rui wouldn't be coming until 6:00pm.
So there she was trying everything to pass the time. She took selfies, practiced "Bloom, Bloom" on her guitar, watched movies, took more selifes, watched another movie, read a manga, did her hair differently, took even more selfies.
By the time 5:57 came around Touko was impatient. She kept checking her phone to see if Rui would message her that she's on her way. Then there it was 6:00pm and no sign of Rui. Then the time turned to 6:20, 6:30 6:59 and finally 7:00pm. There, Touko was waiting by the window in her kitchen peaking out the window every so often. She just decided Rui was a no show, and she was just going to eat the cake herself.
Until the doorbell rang.
Touko peered out the peephole and there was Rui.
"Coming!!! Uh let me just tidy up!" Yelled Touko.
Touko had forgotten she needed help with homework. So she scurried off into her bedroom trying to find the notebook.
Once she found it she opened the door and let Rui in.
"What's the occasion?" Rui asked eying the decorations on the table.
"Ohhh that? Um nothing nothing! My mom got a promotion at work and I wanted to celebrate!" Touko lied.
Rui gave a suspicious look at her.
"Oh crap she's on to me." Touko thought to herself.
"What did you need help with?" Questioned Rui gesturing towards the math book.
"Oh I'll show you wait I just need a pencil." Touko lied again. Instead she was going for the cake which she had left in her room.
She quickly dashed into her room and got the cake opening it up and seeing it hadn't melted.
She then went to the dinning room the opposite side of Rui and turned off the lights and lit the birthday candles.
"Happy birthday Rui!" She shouted holding the cake up for Rui to see.
Rui was shocked. She didn't know how to respond.
"You went through all this trouble.. for me?" She asked Touko.
Touko nodded. "Yeah I did because I love you!!" She said with a smile.
Rui smiled back at her.
"Now let's cut it! Also do you like the little flower decorations? They're so cute!" Said Touko cutting into the cake.
At the same time both of them took a bite out of the cake and smiled at each other.
