Chapter 29 - Back to the Family

Charlie and Vaggie had gotten out of the river by the time they heard some galloping and someone calling out to them.

“She didn’t do this! Whoa! ” It was Blitzo, who had managed to mount and ride a horse, albeit a little clumsily. “She didn’t do this! I-! Gave her-! A vis-ion!

The red poncho guy got off the horse just as clumsily, the animal’s rear end facing everybody. Also, Blitzo’s foot was kind of stuck in the reins, which resulted in the man falling flat on his face when his steed moved to the side a little.

“It was me!” Blitzo cried out, getting up. “I was like ‘Go!’ and she was like…” A raspberry was blown. “She only wanted to help. I don’t care what you think of me but if you’re stubborn to-“

Vaggie had cut him off with a hug, the matriarch needing a moment to process her long-lost son being in front of her again. But she was happy to be reunited all the same. Happy to be able to hug him again.

“Blitzito…”

“I feel like I missed something important.”

Vaggie just stepped back and kissed Blitzo on the cheek.

“Come on,” Charlie said, walking past them.

The Madrigal matriarch took the red poncho guy by the hand and guided him to the horse. Then she got on and held out a hand to him to grab. It was taken but rather reluctantly.

Blitzo asked, “what-what’s happening? Where are we going?”

Charlie was at the front, holding the reins. She took a breath before she answered, “home.”

Then the blue bow blonde got the horse to run, the Madrigal matriarch holding on her and the red poncho guy holding onto his mother as he let out a surprised yell. They galloped throughout the town, the three kids worried about Charlie now being happy to see her.

“It’s her! I found her!” Niffty shouted, still holding her cup of coffee.

“I found her!” Razzle insisted.

Dazzle took the cup of coffee, emptied it, and clang the little spoon in it, shouting, “she’s back! She’s back! She’s back!”

Charlie kept going until she made it to the destroyed site of her home. Where she had lost Vivienne. The blue bow blonde got off the horse and looked on somberly, at least until she heard

“Charlie!? Charlie!”

Charlie turned to see Mimzy, who had found her and was running towards her. The blue bow blonde met up with the family chef halfway and the two embraced each other.

“Mama…”

“Ay mi amour, I was so worried… we couldn’t find you…”

Husk showed up, his hands, nose and one of his ears very much swollen. “There were bees. Everywhere. But you know, we now have everyone together again. We’ll be oka-”

“What the fuck do you mean, ‘we have everyone together again’!?” Angel interrupted, majorly pissed off. “Did ya seriously forget about Vivienne!?”

Molly gave her twin a good smack on the head, along with a glare.

“Okay, okay, sorry ‘bout snappin’, it’s just… you know… Viv...”

“Yeah, Angel’s right…” Husk said glumly. “Things will never be the same without our home… we’ll get a new house, we'll have to eventually, but we still won’t have our home back.”

Charlie took a look at everyone, who were varying levels of sadness. Sure, they were relieved to see their missing family member safe and sound but now the reminder that Vivienne’s gone is hitting them all over again.

So the blue bow blonde got up on the front steps and rekindled everyone’s spirits with a song. Because why not?
