What Else Can I Do?
Chapter 25 - What Else Can I Do?
It was shocking for it to be there. So much so that Charlie wasn’t being pulled anymore and Verosika had stood where she was, stunned and still.
The blue bow blonde was stunned, too, and noted that this was a topic that needed to delve into later. Not just the fact that this plant here popped up but also the fact that she's being blamed by her sister for having ruined something that she never would have been happy with because she never wanted it. Seriously, this flower-producing blonde makes so many flowers that it's filling up her damn head.
“Vera…” Charlie got up, which was easy now that there weren’t any vines around her ankles anymore. “That is a very serious confession. Okay… maybe... you wanna hug it out?”
Maybe it's insensitive, given the timing, but the big revelation was changing Charlie's tune that much; Verosika's weird-ass emotional state towards the whole dinner scene was still fresh in her mind, after all. So the blue bow blonde bowed her head, had her eyes closed and arms open. She was waiting for that hug only for it to not happen.
In fact, Verosika was still stunned by the arrival of the cactus in her room. Sure, it had a flower on top but it was a cactus. Not really something anyone would think when it came to ‘beauty’.
The flower producing woman crouched down and cautiously reached out to the cactus.
“Vera?”
Then a song starts, particularly when Verosika had brushed against the prickly plant and pulled back when it formed two stubs of itself, like ears or something.
I just made something unexpected. Something sharp, something new
Charlie could recognize a song number when she heard one but still needed that hug. “Uh, Vera? This is probably the part where we-“
The plant-producing woman had picked up the cactus from its bottom with some flower petals and was still very much taken in by it.
It’s not symmetrical or perfect but it’s mine. What else can I do?
Verosika had walked away, Charlie now getting into the song. Wait! Bring it in, bring it in. Good talk! Bring it in, bring it in
What else can I do?
Let’s walk and bring it in. Bring it in
The plant producing woman had twirled in circles with the cactus, getting the blue bow blonde to lean back in a hurried manner. The former used her flower vines to carry her away, to which the latter then tried hurrying in seizing her sister in an embrace.
Free hugs! Bring it in, bring it in!
Verosika had landed in another part of her room, where a closet in furniture form, as well as a changing wall, was located. She was in the center of a beautiful petal-y pattern made with the flowers on the floor.
I grow rows and rows of roses. Flor de mayo, by the mile
The plant producing woman passed by and imitated the poses of statues of herself, each one being different from the last.
I make perfect, practiced poses
Verosika had used a vine to crush one of the statues of herself.
So much hides behind my smile
Charlie caught up and ended up catching the head of the destroyed plant sculpture, which freaked her out big time. Verosika, however, just kept going, brushing her hand against the wall of flowers and making it change colors as she ran past them.
The new colors made the image of Verosika and those colors were changing places like it was a fluid-moving picture with a background of yellow. Those fluid-moving images have shown a clearer image of what dance moves the plant producing woman was doing.
What could I do if I just grew what I was feeling in the moment?
Verosika had changed the whole wall of flowers blue while still making the image of herself clear. Charlie had caught up with her again and got the next line, getting hit with a blast of flower petals at the end.
Do you know where you’re going? Whoa!
The plant producing woman was running around and making bursts of different kinds of flowers appear. Ones that she’s never made before. What could I do if I just knew it didn’t need to be perfect?
Verosika had jumped on her bed, the flower drapes being pulled away as she twirled around on it and made all the flowers surrounding her blue with some splashes of pink remaining.
It just needed to be? And they let me be?
The plant producing woman had swung on her bed, creating a pile of flower petals all over her sister with her face being the only part shown. The blue bow blonde spit out some petals that ended up in her mouth.
A hurricane of jacarandas
Charlie suddenly was carried away by a tree that just sprouted beneath her. She made sure to hold on tight to what she could.
Strangling figs…
“Big!” The blue bow blonde cried out. The background flowers changed to green with splashes of yellow.
Hanging vines… Verosika was swinging from just simply vines now, from one to another.
“This is fine!” Of course, Charlie was being held by a vine while she’s upside-down, her skirt falling with the gravity. It’s probably a good thing that her underwear looks a lot like lacy pants. And the background were orange and indigo now.
Then the blue bow blonde had aligned herself right-side-up and climbed upwards, considering that her sister was at the top of a kind of palm tree with an open pad. The plant producing woman was still going on with the song, too.
Palma de cera fills the air as I climb and push through. What else can I do?
Charlie jumped and hugged the tree now but resumed climbing up while her sister was still going strong.
Can I deliver us a river of sundew?
The blue bow blonde had made it up to the top of the palm tree now, right when yellow flowers were snapping their white-thing-tipped petals at her. At least the plant producing woman had saw her sister and pulled her in close.
Careful ‘cause it’s carnivorous. A little just won’t do…
Verosika had let go and held out her hand, like it held answers she never knew it had. I wanna feel the shiver of something new. Then she turned to Charlie. I’m so sick of pretty. I want something true. Don’t you?
The blue bow blonde took the next line, while the plant producing woman vocalized. You just seem like your life’s been a dream, since the moment you opened your eyes
Verosika. How far do these roots go down?
Then she sat down and vocalized again while her sister quickly sat down next to her and got the next line. The background were flashing colors of red, orange, and purple.
All I know are the blossoms you grow… The blue bow blonde placed her hand on Verosika’s shoulder, getting her attention. But it’s awesome to see how you rise
The plant producing woman saw her sister lay out her hands and had placed her own hands in them. They both got up while interlocking one of their hands with one of the other’s hands.
Verosika. How far can I rise?
Charlie. How far can you rise?
Together. Through the roof, to the skies. Let’s go!
The palm tree apparently kept going until both girls were outside. Verosika had a flower on a vine and singing into it like it was… something in the future. Still, she and Charlie were enjoying singing together, that’s for sure.
A hurricane of jacarandas…
Charlie went, “Whoo!”
Verosika as she swung on a vine and made purple plants unlike anything she’s ever made before. Strangling figs…
Charlie, fists in the air. “Go!”
Verosika had landed on the roof and made more unusual plants across it. Hanging vines…
Charlie was behind her and shouted, “Grow!”
The two sisters have frolicked and somersaulted down the roof while the older sister takes the next line.
Palma de cera fills the air as I climb and push through!
They have landed on a flower vine but, unlike the others, the flowers seem to shoot some colored pollen like a spray.
Charlie. What else? What else?
The blue bow blonde and plant producing woman had landed at the highest peak of Vivienne, the former two singing together as they held hands and danced together.
What can you do when you are deeply, madly, truly in the moment?
At deeply, Verosika had come in contact with a flower with heavy yellow pollen that ended up staining her prefect pink dress. Charlie gestured her that it’s all good, prompting the older sibling to just kick around at the heavily pollinated flowers.
The blue bow blonde sung next. Seize the moment, keep going!
Of course, the plant producing woman had ended up making unusual plants all over town, which had taken the townspeople by surprise. One donkey was surprised when an indigo-colored flower had risen up right beneath them; the animal in question was lucky it wasn’t any of the cacti next to it.
Both Verosika and Charlie sang together. What can you do when you know who you wanna be isn’t perfect?
Abuela Vaggie was talking to Moxxie, Rosie, and Alastor, the younger man showing the elderly woman how well his nose was faring. Of course, at that moment was the one where a dark purple flower bud had risen up and smacked Moxxie right in the nose.
The concerned parents had looked over the poor guy while he reacted in extreme pain over what just happened. As for Vaggie, she looked towards the house, considering that the strange, sudden appearance of the plants throughout Encanto is bound to be Verosika’s doing.
Verosika vocalized next while having a pollen fight with Charlie. Funny enough, though, it’s only the former whose getting all kinds of colored pollen on her dress and also her hair but the latter isn’t getting messy at all. But I’ll still be okay…
Vaggie couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She knew she had to go over there and confront the madness going on, especially since Charlie’s been found again after the fiasco that was the proposal dinner.
Charlie. Hey, everybody, clear the way. Whoo!
Verosika. I’m coming through with tabebuia
She’s coming through with that booyah!
The two sisters, continuing their back and forth, while the gifted one with the plants created two flowering vines for them to slide on.
Making waves
Making waves
“Changing minds
You’ve changed mine
The way is clearer ‘cuz you’re here and well… Verosika and Charlie had reached each other, the former stopping the vines and pulling the latter into a hug. I owe this all to you. What else can I do?
The blue bow blonde was surprised but relaxed into the hug and even returned it. Then the hug broke apart and she saw that the candle was burning brighter than ever. That the cracks in the magical house were ceasing to be.
Charlie. Show ‘em what you can do
Verosika as she swung around and took her sister along for the ride. What else can I do?
There’s nothing you can’t do
What else can I doooooooooooooo?
Verosika and Charlie landed down a massive makeshift bed of flowers, curtesy of the former. Both girls laughed as they laid down on the soft padding of petals.
“You’re a bad influence,” the plant producing woman said as she flicked a flower towards her sister. Then some seconds later, after the shared laughter kind of died down, “Hey…”
“Yeah?”
“I’m thinking that some of the whole messy thing between you and me was kind of, sorta been my fault so… I’m sorry. I took it out on you when I shouldn't have.”
The blue bow blonde halted in her breath, taking a moment to really register what was said. After all, it’s not like she ever expected her typically haughty sister to give an apology, particularly one to the non-Gifted member born to the family. Maybe things were finally looking up, after all.
