"And the mind tricks, too."
“Come, come with me.” Wanda pulls you along with her into a room in the HYDRA base. You’d never been allowed in this area before, but everything is in chaos as they prepare for the destruction that the Avengers will inevitably bring.
You told him as such. You didn’t see any chance of him winning.
“Wanda, where are we—” You’re quieted as you sense a presence in the room of someone who doesn’t belong. The staff as well as a bunch of alien technology is cluttered in the room. The man, the intruder, is looking for the staff.
Wanda leans closer to you in the shadows, careful to keep quiet. “Show me what he is afraid of.”
You look at her, seeing that she has a plan. You trust her. You turn back to the man and peer into his mind. You’ve gotten better at this. You search through his memories, past the unimportant stuff, and straight to where you find his fears, the scariest moments of his life. What he has nightmares about. You feel Wanda in your mind as you’re looking through his.
When you come back to your own mind, Wanda is already near him, hands alight with red sparks and lifting it up to his head. Her magic pulses out of her hand and into his mind, rendering his face blank for a few seconds. You step into his mind and bring his own type of nightmare to the forefront.
You’re pulled back to your own mind and instantly feeling the presence of Wanda and Pietro. You’re kneeling in the snow, eyes watery and breathing heavily. Your eyes return to their normal shade as you look around at the two of them. Feelings of concern and surprise roll off of them in waves.
“Are you okay?” Wanda’s eyes are wide as she tries to help you up and out of the snow. Her Sokovian is soft and concerned. You don’t realize you’re shivering until Pietro takes off his jacket to let you double up.
“I‘m fine.”
“What happened?” Pietro’s eyes are staring into yours, trying to look for an answer in them.
“It is one of my abilities. Visions. It happens sometimes.” You’re quick to try and dismiss the tension that your episode caused. Your teeth are chattering from the cold.
Wanda nods, not totally letting go of it, but realizing, or perhaps reading your thoughts about not wanting to talk.
“Did you see it?” If she can read minds, does that mean she also see your visions? She was in it as well. She did something to that man. You don’t know how far in the future that vision was, but you could tell the both of you had some level of mastery over your abilities.
‘I didn’t see your vision, but your mind seemed to be racing,’ her voice said. She was speaking to you, not aloud, but you heard it in your mind. That must be one of her abilities.
“Let’s change the subject, okay?” Pietro seemed to want to move away from this topic, and you were all for it.
“What are your abilities?” You looked at Pietro curiously. “You went near the stone, right?”
He nodded. “I think it’s best if I show you.”
Before you could even blink, a blur ran past you and Wanda, zipping the length of the fence.
“Super speed. Cool, no?”
“Well, I didn’t really see that coming,” you responded. You and Wanda both had mind related abilities from what you could tell. They were siblings, too, yet had completely different abilities. It was interesting, to say the least.
The small smile that came from Pietro made you feel a bit better and helped to calm down Wanda as well. You turned to her. “What about you?”
She blanched for a second as your eyes met. “Well, I can, um..”
She paused and looked at her hands. They sparked red and she held them out, fingers moving jerkily. Her brow was furrowed and face kept still as she tried to use her powers. A few feet away, a lump of snow was picked up off the ground, encased in the same red sparks. It turned into a ball and with one movement from her hand, it went flying towards Pietro.
“Wanda!”
“And the mind tricks, too,” she said, ignoring her brother.
Pietro, recovered from the snowball hit, reached down into the snow to try to make his own snowball. He didn’t have any gloves on his hands, so his hands were freezing by the time he made a semi-round one.
You, feeling his intent, leaned away from Wanda as soon as he threw it, not wanting to get caught in the middle of that. The snowball landed right in her hair and exploded mostly on her neck and jacket. You couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at her shocked face.
You could quickly tell that Wanda wasn’t going to let him get away with that. You stepped away from them as multiple snowballs rose from the ground and were sent towards Pietro, who evaded most of them with his newfound superspeed.
Wanda, however, didn’t have the reaction time that Pietro did and was caught by the handfuls of snow Pietro shot at her.
“You have to keep up, sestra,” Pietro taunted.
Wanda’s lips curved into a smile as she launched a volley of snowballs at Pietro. He couldn’t even avoid this time as she rendered him immobile with her powers.
You wanted to keep watching them have as much fun as they could have in this place, but you knew the fifteen minutes were about up. You could sense the guard coming back up to the door. You took off Pietro’s jacket and held it back out to him as he shook off all of the snow like a dog. He took it with a thankful smile and you moved toward the door right as it opened.
Wanda trudged up to you, hair slightly wet from the snow, and smiled a smile that had your face flushing a bit, but you attributed that to the cold. You could tell that her and Pietro would be important to you, if not just the only other ones you could talk to.
