Midnight cuddles
On this particular Thursday morning, Klein was walking to his highschool from the train station.
It was a rather calm and quit environment on the side walk, considering that his friends were either sick or had different classes than him. Having been betrayed by his friends like this on short notice, Klein was in a rather bad mood.
It felt like at this point, even if the apocalypse were to start, he wouldn’t even be surprised anymore.
Finally seeing the school building come into view, Klein breathed a sigh of exhaustion, as he coincidentially saw his classmate for his first subject of the day, Leonard, enter the school building. Unknowingly speeding up his movements, Klein walked towars the entrance of the school.
He had often been partnered with the raven haired youth whenever there was a need for paired-work and had established a rather friendly relationship with him. He just didn’t want to get ahead of himself and call him his friend, since they rarely ever talked outside of groupwork and basically the only thing he knew about Leonard was that he seemed to be well-known for being a fan of poetry, making Klein temporarily invent the nickname ‘poet’ for him. It’s only until i come across a better one for him.., he had always told himself. But even if a ‘better’ nickname were to come up, he would probably be reluctant to let go of his current one, since he found it suited him and the air he gave off quite well.
Other than that he felt that he and Leonard had very different reputations and that didn’t think that the poet would want to spend any time with him, regardless of how many common interests they had, so he didn’t even try to approach him.
While still being lost in thought about these matters, he had relied on muscle memory in oder to reach the literature classroom. Having arrived at his destination, he was greeted by Leonard Mitchell flirting with a group of female classmates, blocking the doorway.
Being fed up by his bad luck that morning, exclaiming “excuse me!” he queezed himself through the people, Leonard being the only one to make way for him and give him a friendly smile.
Do they really have to linger here where everyone can see? Do they seriously have nothing better to do than fangirl, even early in the morning?, Klein lampooned. Well, i suppose Leonard does have a rather soothing air around him. But appreciating a man’s beauty doesn’t give them the rights to just block off the doorway to the classroom for others.. Klein justified his actions.
The classroom started to fill with people, and the lessons gradually started. As always, his school day was rather uneventful. It was even worse this time, since he had no one to acompany him during class.
_______________________________________
Listening to his literature teacher ramble about today’s theme, his thoughts began to wander off.
His gaze wandered across the room as it gradually stopped on Leonard. He studied the taller’s features and came to a conclusion: He really is very handsome.
His dear poet was now also looking at him, giving him a sweet grin, his emerald Eyes shining. Absolutely beautiful.
Wait- what am i thinking?!
...
Only at this moment did he noticed that he was holding eye contact, for quite a while now.
Goddes this is awkard..
I’ll just pretend that it was just a casual glance. Yeah, i just happened to look in his direction! That’s believable ..right!
He sighed and tried his best to focus on the lesson.
After his torment finally ended and the bell signaling the end of school hours sounded, he hurriedly packed his things and left.
Or at least, that was his plan. Only after he arrived in the outside area of the school, did he notice the pouring rain outside. And he had forgotten to bring an umbrella in his haste this morning. Just great.
Cursing his luck, he took out his phone and texted his brother, Benson.
Klein: Hello there my favourite brother~ Do you perhaps have a ride to spare for you dearest younger brother, who has forgotten his umbrella? [3:47 p.m.]
Benson: Klein, i am your only brother.. And Sure, I'm dropping Melissa off at Elizabeth’s place. I can pick you up on the way. I’ll call you when I'm there. [3:50 p.m.]
Smiling at his phone screen, Klein put it back in his pocket.
After he waited for another 15 minutes, he heard the double doors behind him opening. Leonard was walking out of the building, with an umbrella in his hand. “Ah, hello there Klein! Are you waiting for someone? I was convinced you had already left~”
Klein had prepared to answer him, when suddenly his phone rang. “Sorry, i have to answer this call” he sighed with an apologetic smile.
“oh okay i see..”, Leonard quietly remained standing next to him.
“i’m at the parking lot, where are you?” Klein heard Benson ask through the speaker.
“I’m infront of the entrance, wait for me, I'll come to you.”
“Alright, see you then.”
He ended the call and turned to the poet: “I’ll have to leave now, see you around!” he ran towards the parking lot, not wanting to risk getting wet.
As he ran, he heard was still able to hear the “See you!” Leonard had directed to him, unconsciously making him grin.
Having arrived in the parking lot in no time, due to him running, he opened the door to to Benson’s car and got in, huffing heavily.
“Someone seems to be in a good mood, eh?” Benson teased his younger brother.
Only then did Klein notice that was still wearing a silly grin on his face.
“ i don’t know what you mean, i’m always in a good mood!”,he played of the accusation, laughing.
Benson smiled and let the matter rest, looking forward to when his sister would bring it up, hoping to obtain more informations on the source of Klein’s good mood then.
After a 10 minute drive, they finally arrived at the Moretti family’s residence.
Excusing himself to his room, Klein finally got some peace of mind. Just as he had decited to first busy himself with his homework, a notification popped up on his phone.
It was from the group chat he shared with his firends Amanisies, Roselle and Azik.
Roselle: @ Klein imagine being alone at school because all your friends are sick [4:25 p.m.]
The corner of Klein’s mouth twitched as he responded:
Klein: i hate every single one of you. [4:25 p.m.]
Amanises: sounds like it didn’t go that well for you? [4:26 p.m.]
Klein: meh, it was alright, just really boring [4:26 p.m.]
Klein: what about you guys? [4:26 p.m.]

Amansies: first of all, I’VE already passed the recovery stage whcih was today [4:31 p.m.]
Amansies: so yes, i am allowed to go clubbing [4:31 p.m.]
As the discussion went on, Klein averted his gaze from his phone, not wanting to have anything to do with the small scale war developing within the chat group.
A couple hours passed until Klein finished his homework and checked his notifications again.
He had benn tagged 22 times during the course of the argument. He directly scrolled past the older tags and only paid attention to the newer ones.
Roselle: @ Klein I WON [5:37 p.m.]
Roselle: HAHAHA SUCKERS [5:37p.m.]
Amansies: sucker* + sorry Klein, but you’re going with us. You don’t have a choice. [5:38 p.m.]

Roselle: @ Klein ANSWERRRRRR I WANT TO WITNESS YOUR SUFFERING [5:39 p.m.]
Amansies: did you have to put that in two seperate messages? [5:40 p.m.]
Klein: how did this happen.. [6:42 p.m.]
Klein: and what about Azik? [6:42 p.m.]
Amansies: we don’t know, we’ve already tried to reach out to him [6:43 p.m.]
Roselle: yeah, he’s probably asleep again [6:43 p.m.]
Roselle: yknow hibernating and stuff [6:43 p.m.]

Azik: I’ll let you copy my history homework [6:48 p.m.]
Azik: icluding the part you’ve been struggeling with [6:49 p.m.]
Klein: ..deal [6:49 p.m.]
(Meanwhile, future Klein: what have i gotten myself into...)
Sighing, Klein picked one of the books he had yet to finish out of his bookshelf. He decided on a “poetry analysing guide”, having seen Leonard read it, wondering if this topic really is as interesting as the seemingly poetry fanatic made it seem.
He had rented this copy out from the library, wanting to know why his classmate seemed so engrossed to ist content. Of course, he only did this out of curiousity and totally not because he wanted to find out more about the other...
_____________________________________
He busied himself with the book for a few hours until Melissa came back from her friend’s house and they had settled for their dinner table.
They had pepper-sauced steak with peas and mashed potatoes. Savouring the sweet taste of the peas in his mouth, Klein listened to his siblings talking about their day.
It was a peaceful and warm picture, the memory of his family whole heartedly enjoying their dinner, cheerfully chatting about whatever came to mind. It was something Klein was grateful for having. He might even say he might break if he would’t be able to come back to the warm embrace of home after an exhausting day at school or any other activity. His family and friends really were the ‘small’ things he cherishes.
“Benson, Melissa, I will be heading out with friends tomorrow evening, is that alright with you?”
Melissa studied his expression for a second before responding: “Of course, Klein! *We’re* more than happy to see you interact with other people and not just sit in your room all day, aren’t we, Benson?”
Benson nearly choked on his food when he heard the strongly emphasized ‘we’ . “mhmm!!” he tried his best giving a response, besides having trouble use his vocal chords, because of said shock from Melissa’s silent threat. “yes yes! Sure Klein. Go..! Go out with your friends!”
“..just be careful of any weird people, and if you encounter any trouble, please don’t hesitate to give us a call! You know you can always count on us!”
Smiling Klein answered, a corner of his mouth twitching: “yes, i know, thanks you two...”
Wearing a proud look on fer face, a smlie surfaced on Melissa’s lips.
“Now that’s settled, when will you be coming home tomorrow?”
“Oh, probably very late, there’s no need to wait for me. I’ll probably be getting take-out or re-heat any leftovers when i get home.”
“Alright, great! And Klein...”
“..yes, Melissa?”
“Try looking for a girl you like while you’re at it”, she winked.
“...”
Benson choked on his food again.

After the following day’s afternoon classes ended, Klein found himself outside of the school building waiting for Amanises and Roselle to make their appearance.
He was actually rather exited for this evening, not having been in a club for some while. The only thing he might complain about for today would be the exessive amount of history homework, the fact that Azik was still sick (AKA known as studying for exams)and that he wasn’t able to have a conversation with the dear poet Leonard, yet again. Everytime Leonard would approach him, somebody else needed him, had any kind of question for him etc. So all he could do was give Leonard an apologetic look and tell him that ‘he’s sure that they will find another opportunity to converse sometime else’ and walk off.
Seeing his friends come out of the school building, he waved at them. As Amanises and Roselle slowly made their way over to him, he saw Leonard leave the building close after his club guides.
Their eyes met.
A small smile sneaked onto his lips, as he continued to monitor the movements of the other. Leonard had stopped midway in his tracks, maintainig eyecontact and gifting him a honey-sweet grin, which made Klein’s heart flutter.
Was that for me?, he couldn’t help but think.
Before his mind could register anything else, Amanises and Roselle had alredy arrived beside him, picking him up to acompany him to the train station.
Still dazed, Klein raised his arm to wave to Leonard, yelling “See you!”
Leonards grin still remaining, he responded: “See you, Klein!”, giving a small wave.
Only then did Klein hurriedly turn around and ushered his friends to leave, which were giving him meaningful looks.

Having been dropped off at his house by Amanises and Roselle, Klein still had around four hours until he would meet up with Roselle and Amanises again and take the bus to their destination.
Klein placed his backpack by the doorway, hung his jacket on the coat rack and took off his shoes.
From his two siblings, only Melissa was already home.
After checking up on her, Klein made his way into his room.
A few minutes later he found himself helplessly standing infront of his closet, trying his best to find something, anything really, suitable to wear.
I can’t ask Melissa for any advice now, right? My image as her elder brother would be fatally damaged!, Klein sighed.
After some rummaging and moving around of clothes, Klein finally managed to find something passable. Deciding to try his luck, Klein changed into the outfit.
It was a black turtleneck, sleeveless crop-top, paired with a beige cozy and oversized jacket and a pair of black baggy pants.
After some deliberation, he decided to secure a few strands of his raven black hair with two equally black hair pins to his right side.
Satisfied with his creation, Klein added a bit of black eyeliner and laid back onto his bed, scrolling through social media, waiting for the time to pass by.
Homework can be done tomorrow, since it’ll be weekend and i don’t have anything planned.
He convinced himself.

9:45 p.m., Moretti family residence, after dinner time
On time, Klein got up, organized his bed sheets and walked out of his room, in order to find his siblings and inform them of his departure.
He had closed his beige jacket, making him look rather ordinary, if you exclude his eyeliner and his , i suppose you could say, ‘styled’ hair.
Like always, Melissa looked her brother up and down before furrowing her eyebrows and saying: “Take care and remember to not come home too late!”
Giving her a soft smile, trying to shake off the awkard feeling of having his siblings see him in a clubbing outfit, even if it was relatively tame, Klein said: “I will, don’t worry.”
“And if anything ever were to happen, please give us a call!”, Benson reminded.
“Of course”, Klein reassured him.
“Well then, sleep well, Benson, Melissa. And if you were to encounter any emergencies, please do not hesitate to call me aswell.” I would come to rescue right away Klein lampooned.
Bidding farewell to his siblings, and picking up his identification card along the way, Klein walked out the door. The first thing that entered his view were Amanises and Roselle, both in corresponding party attire. Amanises had her hair laying on her shoulders and was wearing a black ruffeled, but simple seeming skirt, fitting black eyeshadow and a pair of star shaped earrings. Compared to her, Roselle was wearing a rather casual outfit, only wearing a black T-shirt with white pants.
“About time you finally decided to show up.”, Roselle mocked.
In response to his remark, all Amanises did was shake her head, as if she had lost all hopes in humanity.
“Well, you know me, I'm always on time!”, Klein mocked himself.
“In your dreams!”, Roselle chorteled.
“Let’s go now, if we don’t set off now, we will miss our bus and Lilith will have to wait at the club entrance forever”, Amanises informed them.
“Ah, your girlfriend is joining us as well?”, Klein teased.
“..she isn’t my girlfriend”
Roselle retorted: “oh COME ON AMANISES! You've been acting all lovey-dovey with each other and now you’re seriously tryin-”
“yet”
Roselle: “...”
As soon as the last syllable left the young lady’s mouth, Roselle instinctively shut his mouth, while Klein couldn’t hold back anymore and burst out laughing.
“hey! Friend, don’t just laugh at me!! Save your good friend some face!”
__________________________________________________________
Amanises indication on getting together with Lilith was a hot topic, even as they reached the bus stop, almost missing the bus they needed to take.
They were lucky that the buses in their region drove until the morning hours, because there was demand for transportation vehicles because of the nearby club. Or else they would have to take the 30 minutes walk to get to there.
Their bus was mostly empty, except for a few singular seats. It usually got crowded after around 2 stations after they entered.
After a 15 minute ride, the bus stopped almost directly in front of the club.
Still chatting among each other, they met up with Lilith and stood in line with the other people wanting to enter the night club. The costumers standing in line varied from different age ranges, going from young adults to people in their mid 30s.
Lilith was wearing a matching outfit to Amanises’, the only difference being that her earrings were moon-shaped instead of tiny little stars which her matching partner wore.
It took them another 10 minutes until they got their identification checked and were let inside.
“This is going to be sooo much fun!”, Roselle anticipated.
“i bet i can find some beatiful woman to take home with me!”
“...”
“Roselle, this is a night club, not a flea market.”, Lilith mocked.

They first chatted a bit at the bar, until they decided that everyone was free to do as they wanted, under the agreement to meet up at the club entrance every full hour and be able to be reached via cellphone.
“I swear to the goddes, if you you aren’t reachable by phone i WILL call the police.”
-Amanises

23 p.m., Tingen night club
After full 2 hours of dacing and drinking a bit, Klein had found a confortable corner to sit and read in. He wasn’t lying about having to study for exams, after all.
Just as he had fully focused on extracting necessary information from his phone, he noticed a familiar figure among the crowd-
Leonard!
What is he doing here? He doesn’t look to good...
Not even thinking twice about what he was doing, Klein quickly closed the distance between him and Leonard.
“Klein..?" Leonard exclaimed, his eyes shining.
“Leonard! Is everythign alright?”, Klein worriedly looked at the poet.
Leonards eyes reddened and tears started to form in his eyes “Klein..”
He had never seen the taller in a more disshevelled state before.
“I’m here. Are you alright? Did anything happen?”
Suddenly Leonard took a step forward and- without a warning, embraced Klein in a gentle hug. Small sniffles could be heard as he leaned his head on Klein’s shoulder.
“Why were you ignoring me, Klein..?”
Klein: “???”
“Ignoring you? When was i ignoring you?, Klein asked as he gently started to rub circles onto Leonard’s back.
“..Wha-What do you mean? Y-You don’t remember..?..I- If i did anything wrong, please tell me! I promise i will do my best to stop whatever i was doing wrong!”, Leonard tighned his grip around the smaller’s waist.
“..Leonard, you didn’t do anything wrong, although i don’t know in which instance i gave you the feeling that i ignored you on purpose, i really didn’t mean to.”, Klein tried his best to comfort his uh.. friend?-aquaintance?
“Really..?”
“Look at me, Leonard.”, Klein slowly lifted the poet’s head until he held his face in his hands.
“It really isn’t your fault, i promise.”
“...”
“..Then, I’m glad..”
“Now come on, you really aren’t in a good condition.. Did you have someone acompany you here, that can take you home?”, Klein asked.
“no..i didn’t..”
Dear poet classmate, you can speak surprisingly well for someone who can’t even walk straight.., Klein lampooned.
“Do you want me to take home?”
“nooooo... i don’t wanna go yet..!”, Leonard burried his head in Kleins shoulder again, holding him close.
Klein: “...”
Seriously?
“Leonard, you’re hammered drunk, you need to go home.”
“I’m not drunk!”, Leonard retorted.
“..you are.”, Klein sighed.
“I’m not..~”
“..Let me take you home.”
“Your home? Alright sure!”, Leonard seemed to be fully energetic again, raising his head to look at Klein with pleading eyes.
After some weighing of pros and cons, Klein finally gave in:“sigh, my home it is, then..”
“Just let me text my friends that I'll be leaving early.”
Leonard gave a low hum in response. Klein rummaged through his pant pockets and skillfully fished out his phone.
Klein: I’ll be leaving early. I found a friend and will be bringing him home. Talk to you tomorrow [23:41 p.m.]

Dragging himself out of the club with Leonard in tow, they walked to the neared bus station.
“Are there even any busses driving at this hour?”, Leonard questioned.
“Only this one, it is because of the popularity of the night club here, as you might have guessed already.”, Klein casually indulged in small talk with the poet.
“ah, really?”
___________________________________
Having taken the bus to Klein’s house, they slowly walked towards their destination. They had to stop a few times so Leonard could recover a bit, puke if needed.
Finally arriving, Klein unlocked the door to his home residence and did his best to be quiet in order not to disturb his siblings.
“This is you house? Looks cozy~”, Leonard hummed.
“shh! Be quiet.”
“Okay okay heh”, the taller chuckeled, hugging Klein from behind. Earning a small smile from Klein.
“Are you able to take your shoes off on your own?”
“Of course!”, Leonard gave Klein a “you’re underestimating me” look.
“Here, you can hold onto me if you need help balancing you weight.”, Klein offered, holding out his arm.
“Thanks.”, Leonard gave him a honeyed grin. After they hung up their jackets and put away their shoes, Klein gently led Leonard to his kitchen.
“Are you hungry? We still have some left overs from this evening’s dinner, if you’d be interested.
“Ah.. Sure.”
“You can sit down on the couch of anywhere you want. I’ll heat up the food.”
Leonard slowly wobbled his way to the dinner table.
Ah, right.. I forgot that the alcohol had an influence on his direction skills..., Klein remembered.
Klein swiftly got to the dazed Leonard’s side and guided him to sit down.
He put a pan the stove, sprinkeled it with some oil and put the leftovers in the pan for re-heating. He opened a cupboard and got two glasses; one for him and one for Leonad. The youth with scolarly air filled his guest’s cup with water, so he could drink it to get the alcohol out of his system faster.
He walked up to Leonard and put the glasses on the table, the filled one in front of the poet.
Leonard: “?”
“Here you go.”
“Water..?
“To sober up.”
“...”
“...fine.”, Leonard grumbled.
He hesitantly drank the water under Klein’s warning gaze. Only during this brief silence, Klein was able to fully study Leonard’s appearance. The youth with the romantic air of a poet was wearing a white blouse with two buttons opened at the collar and black jeans. His hair was messed up and acted as a frame for his handsome face and green eyes.
Noticing that he had been staring for a while, Klein went back to the stove, acting as if nothing happened. The tempting aroma of the pepper sauce steak and mashed potatoes wafted through the room. Klein turned off the stove and put the food on two plates, together with two forks and knives.
Placing the plates on the table he said: “Sorry, the peas are out so you’re gonna have to deal with this.”
“Oh don’t worry, this is already way more than I’ve expected!”
“Are you sure I’m allowed to eat that? Didn’t you mention that you have siblings?”, Leonard showed his concern.
“Don’t worry, they alredy had their fill, plus they’re probably asleep already.”
“So, suit yourself.”
As they enjoyed their dinner Klein offered to lend him a change of clothes, to which Leonard happily agreed to. They chatted a little about various interests (as far as Leonard was capable to do so) and Klein got some of Benson’s clothes for Leonard to change into.
___________________________________________
Having brushed his teeth and having Leonard change his clothes, they moved over to Klein’s room.
Having picked up a hairbursh along the way Klein mustered up his courage, trying his best to appear unmoved on the outside, Klein commanded: “sit down”
Having seen Leonard’s well-taken-care-of hair, Klein couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like between his fingers.
“Alright..?”
Leonard sat down on Klein’s office chair, situated in front of his table,as Klein slowly approached him from behind and carefully brushed the dear poet’s hair.
It didn’t take long for Klein to get distracted by the silky texture of the poet’s hair, making him thoroughly brush through it far longer than necessary, as the other started to lean into the touch.
_____________________________________________
After an unknown amount of time, Klein finally hummed: “Done, thanks for holding still!”
Please don’t ask why i did this.. I'm begging you Leonard, spare me form this humiliation.
Leonard opened his eyes and was greeted by the smiling face of the other, his hand still resting on his head. Their faces were close, allowing Klein to fully take in the apperance of the other.
He had a cut jawline, seemingly soft skin, beautiful emerald green eyes and soft lips, with a hint of pink.
Guess some people really do naturally look this dazzling...
Klein had wanted to retract his hand, when leonard suddenly grabbed his wrist and burried his face into Klein’s palm.
Not expecting this reaction, a light pink hue of blush lightly covered Klein’s cheeks.
While Klein was still in the middle of reorganizing his thoughts, Leonard had already started to pull the rest of Klein, who was standing behind him, to sit on his lap.
”L-Leonard! Wha-what are you doing..!”, Klein mumbled, as he was continuously pulled closer by the waist, being completely embraced by Leonard.
“i want to cuddle...”, the taller stated.
Completely baffled by his demand, Klein didn’t have a choice but to slowly relax and give an affirmative response. After all, it was not like he could or wanted to forcibly extract himself from the hug.
As Leonard continued to put his hands around Klein’s waist and nuzzling his head into Klein’s shoulder, Klein eventually gave in.
How about i think of it as a kind of reimbursement to him. It shouldn’t be too bad since it is only this once, right..?
Although i wouldn’t mind him getting drunk a bit more often, if that means I'll get to witness this side of him...
what?no! Get yourself together, Klein! Don’t take advantage of him being drunk! You can’t even really be considered friends!
Yeah.. This will probably just be a one-time event and then we’ll just go our different ways afterwards.
___________________________________________
“hey, Leonard, don’t you want to sleep? I doubt this would be a comfortable sleeping position for you.”, Klein carefully whispered into his ear, not wanting to disturb his dear poet.
A few seconds later, just as Klein was beginning to suspect that the poet had actually fallen asleep, he heard a few affirmative grumbles coming from Leonard.
Leonard lifted his head and looked at Klein with sleepy eyes. Shortly after that he immediately burried is head back into Klein’s shoulder.
This silly but endearing action earned a light chuckle from the smaller. “Leonard, come on now, we can’t stay the whole night like this.”he laughed,
no reaction.
“Leonard? Come on now, i know you’re awake~”
This fellow is really going to behave like a big baby isn’t he? Am i going to have to trade ice cream with him in oder to get him to sleep, or what now?, Klein lampooned.
On second thought.. A trade, huh?
Klein decided to try his luck, although he would actually rather die from embarrassment than actually try this when the poet was sober.
“Hey Leonard, if you behave now and go to sleep, I'll let you cuddle with me as much as you want.”, Klein offered.
Did it work?
Klein’s words seemed to have garnered Leonard’s attention.
But instead of releasing Klein from the embrace, like the historian thought he would, he decisively pulled him closer and hummed: “Hold onto me.”
Shortly afterwards, Leonard had already re positioned his hands, one underneath Klein’s tighs and one on his lower back.
“..what are you doing?”, Klein was at a loss for words.
“Taking you to bed.”
While Klein was still in denial of what he had heard, Leonard had already carried him over to his bed.
The taller had placed Klein onto the orderly bed sheets, pinning him down while looking down at him from above.
As time passed by, the sleepy poet laid himslef on top of Klein, using his chest as a pillow.
Deciding to accept his fate as a matress, Klein couldn’t help but smile, as he let himself sink into his pillow.
This fellow’s really something.. He couldn’t help but silently diss Leonard in his head.
As he let himself recall the entire series of events, gradually sobering up from the little bit of alcohol he had drunk, he couldn’t help but find their actions extremely silly.
It’s almost like these romance books I’ve seen Melissa read..
He absent-mindedly played with his dear poet’s hair.
Wait, his dear poet?
Just when had he normalized calling him that...
Before he had any chance of thinking any further, he watched the clock strike midnight and entered a deep and serene state of slumber.
