This was absolutely foolish. he was a God after all, why in the world did his fool of a brother think it was a good idea to get him drunk, bring him out in the middle of nowhere and then leave him there with nothing but a note that says, good luck getting back home. Guess you are going to have to find a ride from some strangers.
There was going to be hell to pay when he got back to where they were all staying. Thor knew that Toni had locked him out of his magic as a precaution. Her damned inventions were beautifully crafted and they were the perfect way to keep him under control without being locked up. He had earned that much after a year of good behavior in the glass room apparently. Good being a completely relative term when talking about him.
Every time that Toni had felt particularly brave, she would get drunk, come down and flop in one of the chairs that was conveniently placed outside of the glass walls, and sass him. Or at least attempt to sass the sass master that is. It was probably the reason why he had grown to like her so much. Not that she needed to know that last bit. He had already had a feeling that there was some sort of feelings being developed, especially on her end, if the stares and longing looks were anything to go by. Although she would never admit it, and neither would he.
The introspective monologue that had been running through his head for the last twenty minutes was cut sort when eh saw some sort of light heading his way. He had hoped it was a car that would be willing to pick him up. Not many people would though, and why would he blame them. From what he had seen of the mortals and how they were to each other, someone on the side of the road could literally be the worst thing to ever come across.
Loki stuck his hand out and hoped that the person would at least slow down a little bit.....nope. Instead, they laid on their horn as they sped past, a flag waving from the back of the truck. “Foolish humans.....” He muttered to himself as he kept wondering in the same direction as before. He truly had no idea where he was going and it was beginning to drive him insane. Thor was most definitely going to pay for this whenever he got back to the Tower.
He really should ask Toni if she had a spare phone that he could have. Just in case Thor thought something like this was going to be funny. What Loki didn’t know was that Toni was the one that had put Thor up to it. They had made a bet that Loki wouldn’t be able to find his way back to the tower through the city. Toni was on his side, Thor was not. Which was a surprising thing. But apparently Thor had gotten lost a couple of times in the city before people had come to know who he was.
What Loki also didn’t know was that Toni was flying not to far from him just to make sure that no one tried to mess with him. Even with his magic under control, he was still a trained fighter that could do some serious damage if he put his mind to it. And Toni wouldn’t blame him if he had to defend himself. People were crazy in this town.
Loki looked to the sky and tried to familiarize himself with the stars above hoping that maybe, just maybe, he could use them to help find his way back. But to his horror he could barely see the stars in the night sky. There was too much light from the city around him. So looking to the skyline he tried to find the tower which should have been smack dab in the middle of the city. You would think it would be easy to find.
And it was. But Loki just wasn’t looking the right direction. And every person he tried asking just glared at him or refused to look at him. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he thought about the fact that Toni had tried to warn him that the people of this city were naturally distrusting. And if Loki had paid more attention he wouldn’t have been in this predicament.
He tried to ask every care that drove past him for some sort of help and most just flipped him off or ignored him completely. Until in the city of a million cabs, he finally found one that wasn’t taken or he hadn’t been pushed out of the way to get to.
Sitting down in the back of the seat the driver looked at him through the mirror with a raised eyebrow. Apparently Loki’s resting face was screaming about vengeance. Vengeance that was going to come swift and hard to Thor. The snake when they were kids was going to be childs play compared to what he had coming. “Take me to Stark Tower.” was all that Loki said as the cabby weaved his way through the crowd.
Once there he pulled up out front to the tower. And there sat Toni in a chair with the suit holding a tray of drinks. She got up and clapped as she headed over to the car. “You know Loki, these cost money right? Pretty sure you don’t have any of that. Buuuuut considering you just won me two barrels of mead, I think I can spot you on this.” As she leaned into the car she gave the driver a hundred before walking away. “Keep the change. I don’t like being handed things.” She said with a gesture for Loki to follow.
And he did as he was bid. When he was finally able to catch up to her stride, which didn’t take long considering how much taller he was compared to her; she whispered, “You are also going to pay me back in other ways too. I didn’t get you out of the glass room for no reason. Now come Loki, you get to see me in a new light.” Loki felt his stomach stir in a way that he hadn’t felt in a millenia. The prospect of something new to try out? With someone that had filled his dreams for almost a year? It made that smirk that Toni loved, grow even wider over his face.
This was going to be fun.
