Tony Stark x Reader
“Of course that bastard would be gone on a mission today of all days,” you muttered to yourself when the first wave of contractions hit. To be fair, you had insisted he go when he got the call even though he felt he should stay. But by the second contraction, you had definitely decided that this was still all his fault somehow. Once you made your way to your cell phone, you called the number of your always faithful bodyguard, driver, and friend.
“Happy, it’s go time.”
In record speed, he was loading you and your bag into the car and speeding away to the hospital. Apparently all of his annoying trial runs had paid off, after all.
“Could we slow down a little bit? I’d like to make it to the hospital alive,” you said as you bumped against the car door on a particularly sharp turn.
“You let me worry about the driving. You just worry about what’s going on back there,” he replied, looking at you in the rear view mirror. “How close are the contractions?”
“Too close.”
“Is Tony meeting us at the hospital?” he asked.
“I haven’t called Tony yet.”
“What?!”
“I called Rhodey. He’ll tell Tony once the mission is over. I won’t have something happening to him because he’s distracted. It might just be me and you on this one, big guy.”
You couldn’t see him clearly from where you were sitting, but you were pretty sure he paled by about three shades.
Happy managed to get you to the hospital all in one piece and the staff wasted no time getting you in a room. After they had gotten him sterilized and prepped, a nurse escorted him to your bedside.
“Well, Mr. and Mrs. Stark,” the doctor began when he walked into the room, “I still find the birth of a family’s first baby to be a very exciting thing. Are you two ready?”
“I’m not Mr. Stark. I’m just the driver,” Happy squeaked beside you.
“My husband is on his way. Our friend is standing in until he can get here,” you explained.
“Ok, well this baby isn’t going to wait much longer so let’s get started.”

Tony rushed through the hospital doors towards the front desk with Rhodey close behind him.
“Where’s my wife? She’s having a baby!” he almost yelled at the woman at the front desk.
“What’s your wife’s name, sir?”
“Mrs. Stark...Y/n Stark.”
She pecked away on her keyboard before saying, “Eighth floor. Room 832.”
Tony sprinted over to the elevators with Rhodey still in tow.
“Can you believe I’m going to be a dad?” Tony asked on the ride up.
“Honestly, I can’t believe you weren’t a dad way before now. But seriously, I’m really happy for both of you. Y/n will be a great mom, and you might make a halfway decent dad.”
“Thanks, buddy.”
When the elevator doors opened, they both hurried out and started following the signs pointing in the direction of your room number.
“Sir! Sir! You can’t go in there!” a nurse fussed while reaching out and grabbing Tony by the arm. “Come this way. We’ll get you prepped.”
All gloved up and squeaky clean, Tony entered your room to find you lying on the bed, sweaty and exhausted with your hair in a mess. He started to walk over to you when he found his way blocked by Happy’s motionless form lying on the floor.
“He took it like a trooper up until the end,” you said with a smile.
He stepped over his friend and came to sit on the bed with you.
“You look like you handled it pretty good yourself.”
“I know how I look. I’m a mess,” you said with a laugh.
“You’re gorgeous, as always.”
Two pairs of eyes shot up at the sight of a nurse coming in cradling a little blanketed bundle in her arms.
“I’ve got somebody who wants to meet you,” She baby-talked. Returning to her normal voice and motioning to the floor with a nod of her head, she added, “We’ve got somebody coming to move him.”
She walked over and placed your new baby girl in your arms. “I’ll give you a few minutes, then she’s got to go back to the nursery.”
You and Tony both stared at the tiny little face wrapped up in the pink blanket as it yawned and blinked at you.
“She’s got your eyes,” you whispered.
“Lucky girl,” he whispered back. Addressing your daughter, he said, “I’m going to spoil you rotten, little baby. Toys, ponies, convertibles...no boyfriends, though. They can’t be trusted. Believe me, I know.”
“You want to hold her?”
Tony gave you a terrified look while you gently put the baby in his arms.
“Am I doing this right?” he asked, staring at her as if she were made of glass.
“You’re doing fine, honey.”
While you watched him, you were pretty sure you saw a tear slide down his cheek.
“Is the great Tony Stark actually crying?” You asked with a chuckle.
“Yes, but don’t let it get out. I’ve got a reputation to uphold.”
“Your secret is safe with us,” you playfully whispered.
You both sat in silence for awhile before he said, “She’s perfect, just like her mother.”
The nurse came back into the room to get her, and it was obvious that Tony didn’t want to give her up.
“Have you decided on a name?” She asked as she cradled her in her arms.
“Maria,” you said with a smile.
Wrapping his arm around you, Tony added, “Maria (your mother’s f/n) Stark.”
Once you were alone again, you placed your hand on Tony’s cheek and told him how much you loved him. He leaned forward to kiss you, but the moment was interrupted by a groan coming from the direction of the floor.
“Hey there, Sleeping Beauty,” Tony said, “you missed all the excitement.”
Getting up off the floor and rubbing his head, Happy said, “I had enough excitement for a lifetime. For the next kid, I’ll go avenging and you can do this.”
