The Shogun sat next to her General, the afternoon sun shining golden hues across the room, painting the smoke from the Shogun’s pipe a beautiful yellow hue. They sat mostly in silence, Sara kneeling with the Shogun slightly leaning on her. If Sara were anything other than self-restrained, she would’ve indulged in the privileges she had by running her calloused fingers through the silky, purple hair, feeling all the riches that the Shogun used to maintain such divine beauty.
But alas, Sara was still, meditating while tobacco smoke was blown her way (she tried her best not to cough it all out again), when the comfortable silence was suddenly broken by the goddess.
“Say, Sara.” The Shogun began, turning her head further in Sara’s direction, who kept her eyes close. The latter hummed in response, fully aware that if she were to look, she’d find an impossibly soft gaze searching for hers, those cold, violet eyes staring deep into her molten golden ones. She’d melt instantly, she knew.
“Have you ever kissed anyone?”
The question sure caught Sara off guard, but other than the heat coloring her cheeks pink, there was no indication of impact by her words. Nonetheless, Sara opened her eyes, letting her gaze fall onto the Shogun, who still piped away her tobacco. “No, I have not. Those mortal desires never had a hold on me.” She responded.
Sara was aware that she basically admitted to never having kissed anyone, and she was also very aware that a certain kitsune would’ve laughed at her now (if the kitsune were here then perhaps Sara wouldn’t have even answered) but it was just the two of them. Just a Tengu and a God. “I see.” Replied the Shogun, taking an extra long inhale of her pipe.
Upon exhaling, she continued the conversation. “Do you think it’s unnecessary? From what I’ve seen in Ei’s memories, even Archons have a desire for such physical act.” The Shogun admitted, remembering Ei’s last partner. Ironically, also a Youkai. So perhaps, the Shogun mused, it wasn’t just a mortal desire. Or maybe the two of them just copied what they saw from their subjects.
“I do not think it should be considered unnecessary. If individuals wish to perform in intimate physical contact in that way, then so be it. I simply have lacked the desire to do so myself yet.” Sara explained, looking at the Shogun with great curiosity. Why was she asking such questions out of the blue?
“I see.” The Shogun hummed, seemingly content with the answer, though the slight frown on her face said the opposite. She turned away from Sara for a moment, the softness in her gaze becoming cold once more. She took another puff from her pipe and Sara noted how her lips adjusted to the object. How the smoke reflected in the glistening sun and how the furrow of her brows slowly ceased. And for a moment, just a short, fleeting moment, Sara had only one question in her mind.
Is this what it’s like to be in love?
The Shogun turned back to Sara, abruptly putting an end to those (blasphemy, traitorous) thoughts. “Would you like to try it, though?” And as her eyes remained cold, Sara could still see all the emotions thundering in her soul. The very air became static itself, a clear sight of the overwhelming emotions that both the Shogun and the General were having. For a moment, the silence around them was but pure suffocation.
“I- I suppose, I wouldn’t mind.” Sara finally answered, letting out a heavy breath along the way. What exactly did the Shogun mean, Sara wondered. “Good.” The god answered. “We will procced with the act of kissing, then.”
Saras entire world stopped spinning for a moment.
But all she could do was nod as she stared at her god with mouth slightly agape. With eyes widen of surprise and pupils large with pure love.
And for a moment, Sara was so very sure that this, that the wild hammering of her heart, that the excitement in her stomach and the spinning in the edges of her vision, that the static running in her blood and her wings twitching under her skin, was indeed what it’s like to be in love.
“Are you ready?”
“Always, my lady.”
Sara would lie if she said that seeing the Shogun slowly lean towards her, that basking in her scent and letting her senses overflow with nothing but her god wasn’t the most outstanding, perfect and dreamlike experience she ever had. The moment the Shogun’s lips were on the Tengu’s. Sara’s wings sprung forth, sending a few black feathers flying behind her, but neither of them cared. All Sara could think about is the softness of her god’s lips. The faint taste of cherry lipstick, the overwhelming scent of Sakura and lightning storm that she smelled earlier, the hands that lie gently on her cheeks to keep her in place, so soft to the touch as if Sara were but a fragile treasure.
The General couldn’t place if the warmth filled her body was from the sun shining on her or the electric love zapping all through her veins, making her shiver and feel giddy. Her wings fluffed up from happiness and she could feel the Shogun’s ever so slight smile against her lips. After just a few seconds, the kiss ended. Both of them had a mutual connection that even just those few seconds was their own, personal Eternity which they both would cherish forever, which they would hold dear to her hearts and close to their very souls.
“That was good.” The Shogun said, her face still close to Sara, who had shifted from her kneeling position to a sitting one, leaning towards the Shogun like she never wants her goddess to leave. Of course, the Shogun wouldn’t dream of leaving Sara behind, ever. The hand which the Shogun had placed on Sara’s cheek still remained, stroking a loving thumb across the Tengu’s cheek, who leaned into the touch with great affection.
Sara blushed heavily at the compliment. “Thank you.” It came to a surprise when the Shogun leaned in once again, stopping only a centimeter before their lips touched again. “Open your mouth some more, my little warrior.” The Shogun commanded softly, and Sara did as she told.
“Good girl.”
Sara didn’t have time to react when the Shogun titled her head and stuck her tongue into Sara’s mouth. The impact was light at first, just a few little touches before the goddess drew back again, giving Sara some time to understand what she needs to do before the Shogun kissed her again. This time, Sara was ready for it, and two women let their tongues swirl around each other, switching from full circles to just light touches and back, pulling back every now and then to let Sara take a short breath before continuing to make out.
Sara was burning up on the inside, a firework of emotions erupting in her stomach, impacting her every part of her body. She let a hand wander to the Shogun’s back, not quite pulling her closer, but instead keeping herself – or perhaps both of them – in position as they kissed. The Shogun’s hands roamed free upon Sara’s back, her arms firmly around the Tengu’s neck to keep her close. Neither of them seemed to want this moment to end, neither wanted their Eternity to be over so soon.
To stay within each other’s embrace is a gift greater than the heavens could ever give. To love is to live and to share love is to be divine.
Sara wondered what the Shogun felt during their kissing. She wondered if the Shogun felt the same storm in her heart, the same blessing rain that washed away any doubt that lingered within her soul gave way for the purest of all gifts. Sara wondered if the Shogun held even half the amount of love that Sara had hidden deep within herself for years on end, the kind of passion that makes you sure you’ve found your soulmate.
From how electric the air around them was, how it made Saras downy feathers beneath her hair stand on edge, was probably proof enough that they had a mutual feeling about each other. That they both shared the lightning in their blood, the wings that let them fly free through the endless sky of mutual devotion and passion, the deep ocean of yearning that could finally drain through the confidence they now gained. The storm clouds of fear from rejection that finally lifted to make way for the oncoming rays of happiness to illuminate their lives with new hope for the future.
To give them the Eternity they both so sought after, to give them a moment of peace and silence in the bustling of the world, where no one but them existed. To have a place among the stars in the night sky as the moon will watch over them.
After a few minutes of a heavy but loving make out session, the two of them just stared into each other’s eyes, the mere contact expressing more love than they could ever put into words.
“I love you, Shogun.”
“I love you, too, Sara.”
