Judgement Day
Episode 11: Judgement Day
November 6th, One day after judgement day.
We thought we could change it. That we could save the world and be hero’s, but maybe we were only destined to make things worse, maybe this outcome was inevitable, that there was never a world worth saving or maybe we just made the future darker.
Did we really change anything, or did we just awaken a much darker future? Was coming here a mistake. Maybe the world was always meant to fall to ruins and we only made it much worse. We had a prophecy within our grasps, and I tried to avoid it. I tried to stop it and I failed.
The prophecy came true, it all came true. She’s gone, oh god shes gone.
Somebody, please help us.
November 4th- One day before judgement day
9:47 am
Daisy’s fist connected with the punching back venting her frustration at the little progress that had been made since they had all come here. Tomorrow was it, and when it came there would be no do overs, no resets. Whatever happened would be the final product and it only made her feel more helpless.
“You know, you punch that bag any harder and your going to hurt yourself. You still haven’t recovered from your injuries” Coulson said coming up behind her.
“You know, I keep hearing that a lot lately. Maybe you all need to get off my back” She growled swinging into the bag even harder this time.
“I know your worried about tomorrow but beating that bag into exhaustion isn’t going to help and I know your worried about Robbie, and your frustrated because we still haven’t found the mole. Not to mention your holding some serious resentment towards Logan because he rejected you.” The bag stopped swinging and she twisted fast, grabbing a fistful of his shirt and slamming him into the wall.
“what do you know about Logan? You think it’s the first time someone has rejected me? I’m fine, I am totally fine. You don’t know anything about what its like to be rejected. Trust me on this it gets easier.” She said. Releasing her hold, she turned and swung her fist connecting with the Bag while proceeding to ignore him.
“Believe me, I know what its like to be rejected Daisy.”
“What? Is this about your crush on May” she snorted.
“I don’t have a crush on Melinda” he said, his face beginning to turn red.
“Ooh, so its Melinda now?” she teased a smirk slowly peaking from beneath her lips.
“We are just friends. I only just met the woman.”
“Doesn’t change the fact that you like her. Regardless your wasting your time. May has serious trust issues and you’re the opposite kind of guy she usually goes for anyway.” Stopping her fist before it could connect with the bag she turned and gave Coulson the side eye.
“Wait! What do you mean I’m the opposite of what she goes for? Whats wrong with me?” he said getting flustered and slightly red under the collar.
“I thought you weren’t interested” she said slyly a Cheshire like grin stretching across her face.
“I’m not. Just curious is all.” Yep, he definitely had it bad for May, and that was just too bad for him. She kind of felt sorry for the poor guy. May didn’t do funny guys or anyone who didn’t take anything seriously. People like that didn’t last long in the future and Daisy herself knew that from personal experience. Coulson was the last man May would let herself fall for.
“Why don’t you ask her yourself? Ive gotta hit the shower. I’m all sweaty and I gotta rest up for tomorrow. Good luck with May, your gonna need it.” And with that she left him to his own thoughts while hers turned towards the impending day.
11:23 am
Closing her eyes Bobbi released a sigh. Stress was the only thing on her mind, and she couldn’t seem to think of anything else. Her nights plagued with torture and screams while her days were spent counting down towards the eventual end of everything. Digging in to what she now knew was a bowl of ice cream, and her third one at that. She heard a throat clear before her and turned around in her seat.
“Oh, it’s you” rolling her eyes at Hunter she turned around and proceeded to stuff her face.
“Just thought you could use some company” he said. Pulling the chair to her right to sit next to her.
“If I wanted company it wouldn’t be with you. I’m trying to forget what happened in that basement, not remember it.” Go away, go away, go away, she repeated softly in her head.
“And you think forgetting is going to help you?”
“It has worked my whole life.”
“Yea? Until the day that it doesn’t. Do you think you were the only that suffered down there? I suffered too, maybe even worse that you.”
Angry rose inside of her as she gripped her spoon tightly. How dare he blame her for what happened. “I didn’t ask you to protect me. I did ask you to save me. You’re the one who decided that you wanted to be tortured more than me. Why would you do that for me? Why would anyone do that?” she yelled surprised by the tears that threatened to spill.
“Look, I don’t know what the futures like for you. Maybe humanity stopped giving a shit where you’re from, but here—we still care about people. There is still good in this world even if you cant see it yet and whatever happens tomorrow, we’ll face it together. This world isn’t dead yet and as long as the avengers are still here then there is still hope Bob. I wont let you or any of the people I care about suffer”
Brushing away a tear that slid down her cheek she shook her head, “You don’t even know me. Why would you care about me?”
“Because that’s what people do Bob, they care, there doesn’t have to be a reason. Now are you going to finish that ice cream or what its starting to melt” he said with a grin.
Maybe there was still hope after all.
12:12 pm
“Close your eyes and no peaking” Mack said covering Elena’s eyes with his hands.
“Mack where are we going? Do you really think now is the best time to be doing anything?” Elena grumbled stumbling after the taller man.
“I think now is the only time. Who knows if we’ll even be around tomorrow? I just want today to go really well”
“Shouldn’t we stay with the others in case something happens” Nervous about being led around blind she heard Mack chuckle behind her.
“Right like a meteor is suddenly going to come crashing down on top of us. You said it yourself yoyo. Tomorrow’s the day and if today is the only day I get left then I am not going to die without crossing a few things of my bucket list” Coming to a stop he slowly removed his hands and she found herself blinking a few times in confusion.
“Tacos? You brought me to get tacos. But it’s not Tuesday.”
“And that is the beauty of tacos. You can eat them any day of the week and they still taste good. Now lets enjoy some tacos and not worry about the future or some stupid prophecy that a younger wannabe version of Merlin told us, or the fact that this whole thing is just a knockoff of the 12 monkeys minus the whole virus thing, and the evil bad guys thing but then again there is hydra. Okay so its just minus the virus thing then and the crazy brad Pitt.”
“Mack you’ve completely lost me. I didn’t understand anything you said.”
“Right. I forget your from the future sometimes. Lets just get some tacos, Yea?”
“Yea” she whispered letting a smile grace her face and for just a few minutes she would allow her self a little time to enjoy the quiet.
4:59 pm
“Your turn” Jemma said placing a card down on the table waiting for Fitz to make a move. After five games it was a pretty safe bet that Fitz was going to win but she found herself enjoying his company al the same. Even though a small part of her knew that she shouldn’t be down here. Daisy would kill her, and she definitely didn’t want to hear the speech about how Fitz was a bad guy and that bad people didn’t change even though Jemma was pretty sure that Daisy wasn’t one to talk.
“Wow, you really suck at this. You lose, again” Fitz said his tone laced with boredom as he placed his cards on the table.
“Why do you keep coming here Scarlett? Are you hoping to redeem me or to see some shining goodness buried down? If that’s the case, then you’re wasting your time”
“Why does everything have to be about redeeming you. Maybe I just wanted some company you ever think of that.” She said.
“If that’s the case then your dumber than I thought. What exactly were you hoping to get? Some juicy gossip about my childhood, my dad?” snorting he stacked the cards up and absently began shuffling the deck in annoyance.
“Your father? That’s the first time you’ve mentioned him. Whats he like? And how did he raise you to be such a ruffian without manners.”
“Raised me?” smirking he laughed softly under his breath. “That’s a cute word. If your referring to the times he beat me or locked me in a closet as raising, then sure he raised me.” Laughing he expected a witty retort or even a pity look but instead he found the sound of silence was his only answer. Looking up he opened his mouth to speak but found Jemma frozen in place staring at him like she was looking at a ghost. Frowning he reached out his fingertips barely touching her face when she jolted. Knocking over the chair she turned and nearly flew back up the stairs leaving Fitz very confused over what had just happened.
8:37 pm
Laying in bed May closed her eyes trying to fall asleep, to wish away the rest of this day, but her brain was on the fritz. She couldn’t sleep. Even with the curtains drawn and the door closed she couldn’t sleep, and the funny thing was in the future she always had time to sleep no matter what hour of the day it was she never knew when she would get a good night’s sleep so she took the sleep when she could, but now….
She just wanted to sleep, she wanted this day and tomorrow to be done with already and she couldn’t take the anxiety anymore. Everyone was coping with it in their own way, but all May wanted to do was shut it out and hope that this day would just pass her by and hope the tomorrow would be just an ordinary day. Glancing at the clock, she groaned, 8:42.
A knock at the door brought her away from her thoughts, sighing she rolled over in bed and stared at the door for a few seconds. Willing the occupant on the other side to go away and leave her in piece for her last miserable hours left.
“Come on May. I know your in there. Just let me in before I start serenading you in the hallway and people start to wonder.”
Pausing, she frowned. Would he actually do it? Was Coulson that bold? Before she could decide he spoke again, “I can tell your thinking really hard in there. Probably wondering if I actually would serenade you, and the answer is yes, I would do it and I am about to do it in 3…. 2….”
Jumping out of bed May rushed towards the door and through it open just as Coulson opened his mouth to sing the first note she grabbed his collar and yanked him into the room slamming the door shut.
“Wow May what would the others think if they saw us together alone in your room.”
“They would probably think I was 10 seconds away form murdering you and wondering where to dispose of the body. What do you want Coulson? I have better things to do than entertain you.” She growled releasing him and going over to collapse on the couch.
“Come one May this might be our last night on earth and I refuse to die without having a movie night with you. I am going to keep you up all night.”
“Movie night?”
“Oh god! Don’t tell me you don’t know what a movie night is?”
“Sorry Coulson but in the future, we don’t have whatever that is”
“Well then your in for a treat.” He said with a grin. Throwing himself on the bed next to her.
11:42 pm
The room was quiet. The only sound came from the TV, playing the breakfast club softly in the background. May lay passed out and exhausted on her bed with Coulson beside her, gently holding her hand in his. The day already forgotten the pair lay asleep blissfully unaware of their surroundings and for the first time in awhile May slept soundly with not even a hint of a nightmare or what was to come for the next day. Sleeping next to a man whose hand she never wanted to let go of, though she’d never tell him that.
8:58 am
Daisy awoke with the sun on her face and a crook in her neck. Rolling over in bed, she groaned. Pushing the covers off her she stumbled towards the bathroom and stripped down before stepping into the shower. Water sprayed down and she closed her eyes. Enjoying this small moment before everything changed.
Today was the day. The day all of them had been dreading since they arrived in the past, today was the day the avengers died. Shaking her head droplets of water fell around her and she stepped out of the warm spray and onto the rug, getting ready for the day.
Sitting down on the toilet she began wrapping her bruised arms with gauge, binding it tightly together until she felt the circulation leave her arms this would have to do since she had refused to wear a cast even though Bruce had begged her to. She didn’t want anything blocking her powers though or making them difficult to use. Getting up she toweled her hair and prepared to brush her teeth and getting ready for the long wait
Jemma sighed enjoying a nice cup of coffee that Coulson had introduced her to. This may be the last cup she ever had if everything goes wrong today and she wanted to savor the taste, but no everything had to go right today Jemma still had hope. They came back to save the future and that’s exactly what they were going to do.
A crashing noise made her look up and she frowned watching Tony stumble into the room carrying something large ad wrapped in paper, “What are you doing?” she asked.
“Getting ready for tonight”
“Tonight? Whats going on tonight? Except maybe all of our deaths” she muttered the last part and took another sip of coffee.
“A party of course. Have one every year on this day. Don’t ask way I just like to surprise the people with parties. Although at this point everyone expects a party now.” He said scratching his chin.
“Wait! You cant have a party, not tonight.” She said abruptly standing up.
“Why not?”
“Because we all might be dead by tonight. Don’t you think we should focus on that first?”
“All the more reason to have a party if it’s going to be our last. It will be the best god damn party in the world, and everyone’s invited.” He said before strolling out.
“Shit, ive gotta tell Daisy”
9:32 am
“He’s having a what?” Daisy screamed and the ground shook slightly with her anger. “I cant believe him. Does he even get the seriousness of this situation?” shaking her head she turned and stormed off ready to kill the idiotic billionaire.
Throwing open the door, she paused. Logan stood at the end of the hall and for a brief second their eyes met before she shook her head and stormed off not wanting to speak to him. Hadn’t they already said everything. She thought Logan had made it pretty clear where they stood, and she respected that even though it felt like a lie on her lips.
“Daisy, wait!” Running to catch up with her Logan pulled up along side her, “your avoiding me now, is that it?”
“What do you think? Look I think its going to work best for us if I pretend your not here and you forget everything I said” before he could open is mouth she turned and stormed away only to run into Coulson as she walked into the kitchen, “Hey A.C. so I saw you sneaking out of Mays room this morning. Anything you want to tell me?” she said nudging him in the side with a grin on her face.
“nothing you need to know Agent Johnson”
“Oh, so we’re trying to be serious now. Speaking of serious where is he so I can kill him?” Coulson raised a brow at her and grinned.
“What did he do now?”
“hes throwing a party tonight. I mean seriously. Is he a moron? Don’t answer that.”
“I would give up on your crusade against Tony if I were you. There is no way on this god damn earth that your going to convince him to not throw a party. I would quite while your ahead.”
“Thanks for the advice Agent C” muttering curses under her breath she left Coulson alone and went to have some quiet time before everything went to hell.
7:48 pm
For the record this was a bad idea and Daisy wanted no part of it, but she had also never been to a party before and all the avengers were here anyways. So, really, she had no say in the matter. Coulson was right Tony really was stubborn.
The place was amazing. Daisy had never seen so much beautiful clothing in her life, and the music she had never heard anything like it before. A waiter walked by and handed her a drink and Daisy sniffed it cautiously before bringing it to her lips and taking a tentative sip, “Blech, what the hell is this crap?” she said tossing the contents into a potted plant and hoping that nobody saw.
“Its champagne, but alcohol is more of an acquired taste anyways” Coulson said falling to stand beside her.
“Where’s May? I thought you would be glued to her hip.” Smirking she nudged him with a grin.
Coulson’s head dropped with a sigh, “She’s avoiding me, but I’m a spy and I will find her. I think you should try the chocolate fountain I think you’ll really like it.” He winked before sauntering off to woo May.
Weaving through the crowd Daisy had almost reached the fountain when she felt a hand close around her wrist until she was spun around and landed in a familiar pair of arms. Gasping she looked up and her eyes widened even further, “How did you get in? if some sees you—”
“Don’t worry Chica. I know how to be stealthy” twirling her he pulled her back close to his body and she could feel the heat radiating from him.
“What are you doing here?” she asked looking up only to realize that their faces were dangerously close.
“Maybe I just wanted to see you” He whispered his lips brushing her ear as he bent down to whisper in her ear.
Scoffing she pulled away, “Sorry skull boy but that kind of thing doesn’t work on me. Your just trying to distract me, make me forget that in a few hours everyone here will be dead. Your charm doesn’t work on me.” Pulling away from his grasp she felt a yard yank until she was back in his arms. A pair of warm lips descended on hers and she found herself sucked into oblivion. Her entire body going numb except for the feel of his lips on hers.
The kiss was soft, his mouth moving gently against hers. Testing the waters before turning rough and she felt his hand slide into her hair, deepening the kiss. All thought left her brain and she stood frozen, unable to respond and she probably would have stayed that way if she hadn’t noticed something in the corner of her eye. Pulling away from his lips she turned and saw Jemma standing frozen in front of her before the other woman turned and pushed her way through the crowd, trying to run away.
“Jemma” she whispered horrified, “Jemma wait!” she yelled over the music shoving Robbie away and pushing her way through the crowd only to be stopped by Coulson who had stepped in front of her.
“Daisy, there you are. I’d like you to meet an old college of mine” Coulson said trying to get her attention.
“Sorry A.C. now’s not really a good time. We’ll talk la—”
“Daisy, this is John Garrett”
In a split second everything stopped, and Daisy found her train of thought completely blank. Feeling her heart beating in her chest rapidly she turned slowly. Her body shaking with a new terrifying fear until finally she met the eyes of the man in question.
No, no, no. It cant be. He can’t be hear, he can’t be in this time period.
“Garrett and I go back to the academy days.”
She couldn’t breathe, Daisy was shaking, and she could feel her heart pounding with anxiety. He shouldn’t be here. There was no possible way he could be alive in the future if he was here now.
“Daisy are you alright, you look a little green”
“I... I…I just need some air. I… I’m sorry” shoving her way through the crowd she collapsed against a wall in the back and let the tears fall. Her body shaking with fear. Garrett couldn’t be here. How could he be in 2096 and 2018 and still look the same.
Wiping her tears with shaking fingers. She looked up and her eyes fell on Garrett who seemed to be lost in the crowd weaving towards the back.
“Where are you going?” she whispered getting to her feet and taking one more look around, followed after him.
Just as garret slipped through one of the doors in the back, she waited a few seconds before opening the door softly so as not to be heard. A set of stairs leading down in to the basement was the sight the greeted her. Looking behind and to the sides she slowly slipped inside closing the door shut.
Several minutes later Elena was standing next to Mack a smile on her face as she took in the party her gaze flickering between everyone when she noticed something wasn’t right.
“Mack have you seen Daisy”
“Uh, I think she was headed towards the door to the back. No idea why though there isn’t anything down there besides a basement” Nodding her head she excused herself and followed after Daisy. Stopping at the door she looked to the left and then the right before using her inhuman power to zip inside to take a peak.
Following Garrett down the stairs she arrived in a long winding corridor with pipes lined along the wall and steam rising from them. Yep this was definitely the basement and yet no Garrett. Where did he go?
Movement came from behind her and she frowned about to turn around when she felt something smash against her skull and then everything blacked out.
Coming to in a daze. Daisy lifted her head wearily and reached into to touch her face only to find that she could move her hands. The were handcuffed to the radiator pipes. Yanking on the handcuffs she saw a shadow fall in front of her and she looked up slowly.
“Garrett”
“Sorry about that Agent Johnson, but you really shouldn’t have come down here” he said crouching low in front of her.
“Why” she said gritting her teeth.
“Why am I doing this? I doubt the answer will comfort you, but its necessary to create a better world.”
“what your about to do isn’t creating a better world…. It’s the end of… everything. I should know because I was there.”
“That’s right, you were, and I was there, too wasn’t I? you looked at me as if seeing a ghost. I guess my plan worked then.”
“How, how could you be in the future?”
“Simple. I cryogenically froze myself. I want to see the future for myself. To see how marvelous, it turns out.”
“Marvelous, the future is shit and you call that marvelous?”
“I didn’t say the future would be good for you. Just the ones that matter.” Getting up he patted her hand and reached over fiddling with something tapped against the pipe.
“Whats that?”
“A bomb. Set it go off in a minute or so. Guess I’d better hurry” he said with a grin and instead of heading back the way he had come he headed in the opposite direction leaving Daisy alone.
“Shit!” Letting out a scream she struggled with the cuffs and twisted her wrists trying to get out of them. A horrifying pop came from her left wrist and she wriggled painfully out of the cuff before sending a quake to her right wrist snapping the cuff off. Getting to her feet she scrambled towards the device and started at the countdown. Only 67 seconds left, and she had no idea how to shut the damn thing off and that wasn’t even enough time to carry it to safety or evacuate the building.
Unless she could contain it. A laugh escaped her lips and suddenly she felt like crying. One will die, isn’t that what strange said, and this was it.
“Everyone, I am so sorry”
Bringing her hands up around the device she released two powerful quakes which collided and created a sphere around the device contain it in a prison.
“I wish things could be different, that I could see the world that we saved together. I could’ve done so much more, but its okay. I would gladly die for any one of you and the world. I know none of you are going to hear this, but even after I’m gone, I want you all to have an amazing life. Settle down, have some kids and just watch the world. Don’t be sad that I’m gone because I’m not. this life
was horrible and filled with so much pain and my shining light was all of you.” The tears streamed down her cheeks and she felt them drip onto her hand.
49
“May you should really consider giving Coulson a chance and maybe the future just isn’t the right place for you anymore, and Bobbi I know you like hunter even though you wont admit it. Jemma, I know with your intelligence you are going to do amazing things whether it be in the present or the future. Elena, I know you like to move fast but maybe just this once take it slow, I don’t think Mack can keep up—”
22
The tears fell hard now, and she could feel the pain throbbing through her bones her hands shaking with agony. Just a little longer.
14
The countdown stretched and she thought of her dad. Would she get to see him again or would there just be nothing, just an empty darkness waiting to great her.
9
So, this is it. This is how her life ends. Completely alone and with no one there to hold her hand.

Maybe the quiet wasn’t so bad

The explosion went off Daisy could feel it contained within the vibrational prison she could see the ball of energy and hear her bones snap. A scream tore from her throat and she sobbed, tears of pain running down her cheeks. She couldn’t hold it forever, but she didn’t need to. She just needs to weaken it so that the others would be safe. The explosion grew within the prison and she widened the walls. Her blood vessels popping, she couldn’t do it, she couldn’t hold it anymore.
“I’m sorry… I hope I helped” A final scream tore from her throat as she used the last of her power.
A boom exploded outward, there was a flash of heat and then the walls and everything erupted in a sea of white.
A few seconds prier
Elena ran, down the stairs her powers drawing her towards the hall and towards daisy. Elena could see the bomb, she reached for it, heard Daisy scream and then she felt a hard pull on her powers trying to yank her backwards down the hall. Both her finger tips barely brushing Daisy’s fingers before the bomb went off. She felt the first of the flames touch both her arms and then without warning she fell backwards yanked down the hall at rapid speed and suddenly she was flung into the next room. Crashing to the ground as the whole room erupted in a massive earthquake.
Time lost all meaning for a minute before Elena came to. Dizzy and disoriented she tried to move but felt herself getting shoved down again.
“Its alright Yoyo, your gonna be alright. Just don’t move okay, please don’t move.” Mack was crying. People were screaming and running every which way and Mack was crying.
“Its alright” she whispered. Despite the hoarseness of her voice she reached up to touch Mack’s cheek but found she couldn’t move her arms. Trying again, she raised her head weakly and let her eyes fall down on her body, “My…. My arms” choking on the words she felt a horse scream tear through her throat. “Where are my arms?” she screamed.
Everything blurred together with the chaos and panic and Elena’s screams got drowned in her throat. He body shutting down as she thrashed her head light from the massive blood loss.
“Where are my arms?”
And then Darkness came.
