Quite the Space Age Dream

When Ricky woke up he immediately was left with disappointment that he wasn’t able to talk. Usually in his dreams everyone around him knew sign language, but this time he was able to talk, to sing. The choir was listening to him, and not belittling and infantalizing him like they did in real life. Ocean still treated him like a child for the most part but the other choir members seemed to have seen him more. It was refreshing, although it ended so quickly.

In the beginning of the dream Ricky was unable to speak, like normal, he had his crutches and everything. But after a tragic accident he died with the rest of the choir. In the afterlife he was granted the ability to speak and walk, without a mobility aid.

Again, this was very unlike his normal dreams. He often was in wild fantasy lands of his own making. Lands where he didn’t feel so alone, because despite Penny in the real world, let’s face it he was utterly alone. This dream came out of the blue, although he supposed that it was a little fantastical. Hell, there was a talking novelty machine!

When he sang in the afterlife he sang about him being the prophet from Zolar. It was perfect, everything Ricky could’ve ever imagined. His fellow choir members singing and dancing to his story! It was incredible. Ricky never expected people to like Zolar and the space age bachelor man as much as they did. The choir loved his song, they were giddy, Mischa even stated how they would listen to them now. If only this dream was reality, maybe Ricky would have more friends. People to listen to his stories.

Ricky wasn’t too surprised by Mischa’s two songs, they seemed to embody what he had expected from him. There were two sides to Mischa Bachinski, his angry gangster side that he liked to show off. Then his passionate, emotional side, that he hides away.

Noel’s song was nice. It was good to see Noel express himself and share who he dreamt he was. Noel usually was fearful of being his true self because of the people in this town, which Ricky doesn’t blame him, the people in this town are cruel and close minded, he had experience.

Ocean’s song… well it was exactly what you would expect from her. Self centered, boastful, ableist, homophobic, and more. Ricky constantly wished Ocean would see him as more of a person than some helpless child, cause he was exactly the opposite of that. She was an asshole in real life, and in his dream. Although, she did something nice at the end.

Penny wasn’t exactly in the dream. She was Jane Doe, and he had really made a connection to her. He even gave her the name Savannah, a name he was saving for one of his stories. Ricky thought about the moment. He relished in it. Their bond was out of this world, genuinely.

Although he didn’t want to, he needed to get ready for school. If Ricky could, he would sit there thinking about this dream all day. But, school awaited. He changed out of his space cat pajamas and into the school uniform. Today was a good day, so his mobility aid was his cane.
