Like its Hard?
Summary
“And you think you are? She wouldn’t even give you the time of day even if you tried.”Now normally, comments like these don’t phase her. In fact, she knows her worth especially compared to boys like him.But Wednesday has decided to humor them.

It was annoying to say the least. The chatter amongst the students was distracting her from her writing and she’s already twenty minutes behind schedule.

Wednesday’s typewriter had been sent out for repairs yesterday evening and now she was forced to use their school’s public one. The only problem was the constant talking around her when she needed the silence.

Woe is me.

Her body twitches and she glares at the abruptness of a group of boys sitting directly across from her. They were talking loudly and shoving each other that Wednesday has half the mind to shove them somewhere deep and dark. Perhaps a man hole will do just fine.

Wednesday looks back at her paper, she hasn’t made much progress since she sat here and she has a deadline for herself. She wasn’t going to make today’s goal.

The boys go quiet for a moment and Wednesday closes her eyes, finally. She opens her eyes again and presses the ‘T’ key when she flinches.

“You go talk to her.”

“Yeah, right!” The boy with shaggy curly hair shoves back.

Wednesday glares at the table once more, it was a shame Thing was currently sharpening all of her knives. The mannerism of the group of boys seemed familiar, it seemed as if they were a new pack of werewolves.

The worst.

You go talk to her.”

“Maybe I will.” He growls back in a challenge and Wednesday follows their gaze to a table with a certain blonde and companion by her side.

They were gossiping, no surprise there. It was hard to separate the two ‘besties’ and it was odd to see one without the other.

A werewolf and a vampire. Tsk.

The other werewolf stands up and puffs his chest out. He was about a less than average height, probably due for a growth spurt any minute but Wednesday is no fool. Speaking from experience, smaller does not mean any less deadly.

He confidently walks up to the duo’s table, leaning with a hand on the table and she couldn’t hear what was being said. She could only watch as this played out.

The blonde gives a friendly but confused smile as she shares a look with the vampire. Yoko lowers her glasses down to have a better look and snorts, amused by the flirting that the younger was trying to pull.

Wednesday watches from afar, the way his shoulders start to drop after the blonde shakes her head no in embarrassment and maybe a little bit of flattery.

There’s an eruption of laughter from the group of boys that makes Yoko stare before eyes trailing to Wednesday. Wednesday could see the vampire elbow the blonde and lean in to tell her something, never keeping her eyes off the shorter goth.

The blonde’s eyes flicker towards her, a small smile growing on her face and waves at her. Wednesday holds her stare before giving her a nod of acknowledgment. She must continue her work.

The wolf comes back with his tail tuck in between his legs and the hollers get louder.

“Yeah, whatever.” He says as he sits down, frowning in a dominating way that warned them not to say anything about that.

“Did you get her name? What’s her name?” He’s shoved in a constant motion that made his arm shake.

His chest puffs out again, proud of his little accomplishment “Enid of the Sinclair family.”

“Thing, have you prepared my typewriter?” Wednesday crosses her arms, her question being rhetorical as she doesn’t see her typewriter within sight.

Thing scurries onto the table and signs It is still at the shop.

She frowns and it deepens more into thought, it seems she will have to use the public writing device again. She had thought if she started early she could make up for the lost time but now she will fall further behind.

“I will be back. Ensure that it will be here by tomorrow.” Wednesday quickly turns around and walks out her shared room.

When she gets into the study hall compartment she stands in place observing the same group of boys sitting at the table next to her destination.

She will focus on the task at hand this time and meet her deadline. She sets her notes down and prepares setting up the typewriter.

There’s more snickering coming from the group of boys and Wednesday is glaring at them. “What’s your deal?” One of them barks at her and Wednesday hardens her stare.

“If you wish to keep your claws it would be best to remain silent as I will not be considerate a second time.” Wednesday makes note of his physical appearance, taking it all in for what she has planned for the boy tonight. He is the smallest of the group, lanky even. It is also very obvious they have yet to present a leader, an alpha in charge of the group.

The curly haired werewolf puts a hand on his shoulder and motions him to sit down but the whole table is glaring back.

Smelly rats.

“Look! Look! She’s here!” They half whisper amongst themselves. They were a bunch a giggling school boys and these were supposed to be the big bad wolves of their year. How disappointing.

Though she guesses she can’t blame them for appearing to be love sick puppies around a certain blonde. She does have a certain….charm. The duo sits down at their now frequent table, Enid rambling as she puts down her books and pulling out her colorful pens.

“I think I’m gonna go for it.” The curly haired werewolf says and he stands up, a bunch of oohs and aaaaahs following in support of him.

He isn’t as confident as the wolf who first attempted but he also isn’t as arrogant which was definitely more appealing.

“I think you’ve attracted a pack of hooligans.” Yoko mutters, it wasn’t as funny as the first time more so bothersome this time around. She’d suggest moving tables from now on but Enid mentioned she liked the recent view.

“You’re saying it like its my fault.” Enid dismisses her comment and starts to write her name in cursive on the top of her page.

“Please, I can practically see their tails wagging all the way from here anytime you’re near.” Yoko digs into her own bag to pull out her home room assignments.

Enid doesn’t say anything when she dots her ‘i’ and she brings her pen to her mouth, chewing on the end cap slightly and her gaze starts to focus on their school’s resident goth. Wednesday has a frown on her face, eyebrows furrowing as she types away.

Her view is blocked off by a figure and she looks up at the smiling boy.

“Hey, my name is Jake.” He points with his thumb over to his table “I saw you from over there and I think you’re the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.”

Yoko wants to give him props, as much as he was trying to seem calm his pink neck and ears were giving him away. “I wouldn’t even try if I were you unless you’re asking for a death wish.” The vampire says as she twirls her pen in her hand while Enid stretches her neck to look at Wednesday.

He ignores what Yoko said and continues to talk to Enid “I was hoping if you’re interested-“

“I’m not interested.” Enid murmurs loud enough to hear and his face falls.

“I just think think we’d be really compatible.” He tries to convince her once again and his hands shoot up in motion, trying to explain what a good match they’d be.

“She already said she wasn’t interested.” Yoko leans over the table, fangs coming out and hisses “So, scram.”

He grumbles a small growl before returning to his already laughing pack. His friends he can take the teasing from. What bothers him is the girl that’s sitting across from them, the normally stoic girl’s mouth curved at the corner at his failed attempt.

He strides towards her table, passing his own and towers over the sitting girl “What’s so funny?”

Wednesday continues to type and the clicking of the keys was really starting to annoy him “It is truly amazing that you even considered the thought of pursuing someone who is way above your standards. That is what I find most amusing.”

His table lets out another ooh and this further angers him. He clenched his hands by his sides and huffs “And you think you are? She wouldn’t even give you the time of day even if you tried.”

Now normally, comments like these don’t phase her. In fact, she knows her worth especially compared to boys like him. Her eyes flicker to Enid, the blonde already looking at them like she might step in any second.

But Wednesday has decided to humor them. Show them just exactly where they are on the food chain. Perhaps, they’re placed just below plants. Maybe then they could finally contribute to humanity by not breathing anymore oxygen.

“I will accept your challenge.” Wednesday pushes her chair back and stands up. She smoothes out her uniform and the pack of werewolves start shoving each other in excitement.

She walks towards the duo and Enid’s smile grows wider with each step closer. “Good afternoon.” Wednesday says.

“Hi! How’s your writing going?” Enid leans into her elbows and bats her eyelashes. Yoko rolls her eyes behind her shaded glasses.

“I am ashamed by the progress which has yet to move forward.”

“Oh, that sucks. Do you need help or something?”

Wednesday shakes her head and stretches her arm out and palm up “No, but I do require your number.”

Enid looks confused for a short moment, not really understanding why the girl was asking. She exchanges a quick look with Yoko before looking back “What do you mean? Why do you need it?”

“Because I intend to pursue you with romantic intentions.”

“Why is she being weird about it?” Yoko leans over to whisper.

“I don’t know.” Enid whispers back and stares from her displayed hand to Wednesday’s unwavering stare then back down to her hand.

Seeing how serious Wednesday was about this makes Enid slowly rip a corner from her paper and write down her number, honestly a little disappointed.

She hands the paper to the goth and Wednesday gives a small nod. She walks back to her table and a hollering table of boys rush to surround her.

“No way!”

“How!”

Wednesday folds the piece of paper and places it in her pocket, not wanting the groups of boy to have a chance of spotting a number. She faces the shaggy haired one “Now that you have seen that I’m clearly superior, why don’t you go back, take a shower and crawl back into the hole you came out of.”

“You.” Her tone is voiced to the lanky one who challenged her firstly. “See to it that you assist my acquaintance in bringing my personal type writer from the shop.”

He squeaks and nods his head furiously.

“For the rest of you.” Her eyes roam the group “You are to remain silent until I finish unless you insist that I follow through with my previous arrangement.”

Enid frowns and decides she’s had enough of the rowdy group. She doesn’t know what’s going on over there but she doesn’t like it. Would it be too much to go over there? Of course not.

“I’ll be back.” She stands up and starts walking towards them.

“You never come back.” Yoko scribbles on her sheet but waves her off regardless.

Wednesday sits down and her hands hover above the keys. She can finally get some work done after much distraction.

She feels a hand on her left shoulder, trailing down to her shoulder blade and across her back to her right shoulder “Did you really forget my number?” Enid asks, obviously upset about the question.

Wednesday looks up, trying to read the wolf’s expression. Enid’s disturbingly sparkling eyes and glossy pouty lips. After much consideration she has concluded that she has some worshiping to do. Wednesday grabs her hand softly and pulls it to her face “Of course not, in fact I can recite it in four languages.” She presses a kiss on her fingers and trails up to her wrist.

They aren’t ones for public affection. Enid used to be crazy about it but slowly started to ease up for Wednesday’s sake. Her girlfriend was usually shy about it, opting to keep everything behind closed doors. So her kisses do come to her in surprise.

“Death would be the only feasible explanation but even then I would haunt you until you die.”

“Or, you know. I change my number.” Enid laughs and squeezes her hand. In return, Wednesday brings her hand back to her lips but doesn’t quite kiss. Her lips brushing slightly across her knuckles and she looks up “You have stumped me once again with your knowledge about technology. You truly are above anyone’s standards.”

It’s crazy to think that Wednesday’s praises still gave her butterflies and made her body internally twist. In a good way, just so we’re clear.

She thumbs Wednesday’s cheek and there’s a squeak coming from a few feet away from her. One of the werewolves covers his mouth with both his hands while the others try to shut him up.

Their attention was on the couple or rather really on Wednesday. The shorter was never the jealous one out of the two, her confidence grew with the werewolf by her side. It was never even competition for her when it came to Enid’s hand.

Enid on the other hand was the more possessive type, proudly scenting her girlfriend everyday so anyone within radius knew who her other half was.

She had been obviously slacking because those pups were looking at Wednesday like she hung the moon with her bare hands. That was her job.

Her chest rumbles, a warning growl aiming at the group. They stare at her with wide eyes and stumble over each other to leave.

Wednesday pulls her down to sit next to her and Enid doesn’t put up much of a fight, letting her girlfriend gently guide her to the chair next to her.

She let go of Wednesday’s hand so she could continue her writing, knowing how important this was for her. Instead she slips her into Wednesday’s school blazer, fingers playing with the piece of paper she assumes that she gave to her.

Her curiosity gets the best of her, she needs to ask “Why did you ask for my number when you already have it?”

Wednesday’s mouth curls at the corners and it was one of the few times she allowed herself to jest “To pursue you with romantic intentions.”
