Look what we have here
The ex-assassin hit the punching bag with even more force and sent it flying through the gym. He huffed in annoyance, raising his arm to wipe the sweat off his brows.
He had never been more glad to be alone. Though he was sure it wouldn’t stay that way for much longer.
Slowly walking towards the bag he realized he had destroyed another one in the mere hour he had spent in the gym. So he picked it up and put it into the corner of the room before sitting down on the bench to drink from his water bottle.
To anyone who might’ve seen him it would’ve been clear that Bucky Barnes seemed frustrated.
Oh, and frustrated he was.
He still wasn’t sure if it had been the right decision to leave Darcy alone in her bed.
Though he had been sure her earlier actions had been a result of her alcohol intake, the voice in his head kept telling him it had been wrong to leave her.
She’ll feel rejected when she wakes up.
Oh, cut the bullshit. She’ll be glad I wasn’t there.
He sighed in annoyance when the other voice didn’t stop from arguing back. It was nagging at his mind and conscience.
"Well well well. Look what we have here." a female voice spoke almost teasingly, even though there seemed to be a certain edge to it.
Bucky’s eyes shot up to see the red haired woman slowly entering the gym only to lean back against a wall opposite of him. He had been too deep in thought to notice her arrival.
“What do you want, Natasha?”
“I’d rather ask you the question, Barnes.”
His eyebrows knitted in confusion as he aimed his focus back on her.
Her eyes looked icy. Her arms crossed in front of her chest.
“What do you want, Barnes?” She repeated his question, a slight smirk on her lips.
“I don’t understand what you’re getting at-”
“Darcy!” she interrupted him, her voice raised slightly at this before going soft again for the question: “What do you want from her, Barnes?”
With those words the woman left.
Leaving him completely alone and utterly confused once again.
:-:-:-:-:-:
She ran into him in a hallway.
He was walking next to Steve, seemingly arguing about something.
They were headed in her direction and if she had noticed them earlier she probably would’ve made a U-turn and hid in a storage room or something.
She hadn’t really been ready for a confrontation so soon but when she finally looked up from her phone and saw them, her mind made a quick decision.
The two man came to a stop a few steps in front of her.
Steve gave her an awkward smile and she flashed him one of her own before her eyes fixed on the man next to him.
Bucky was looking at her, puppy-dog eyes as always, though she couldn’t quite make out what it was supposed to mean.
“We need to talk.” she simply stated.
The man in question nodded slightly at this and Steve was about to excuse himself when Darcy stopped him.
“Don’t bother, Stevie. I’m taking this guy up to my apartment. I don’t really wanna do this in public.”
Bucky’s eyes widened at this before he continued to look at her sadly.
The ride on the elevator felt like it took an eternity.
Both of them stayed silent for the entire time. The silence stretched until they entered her apartment.
As Darcy closed the door, not facing Bucky, she felt the man’s eyes on her still.
She sighed before finally turning around to look at him.
“I’m sor-” they both started.
Bucky blinked as Darcy just watched him wide-eyed.
“Why are you apologizing?” He asked, his eyebrows almost vanishing into his hairline.
“I could ask you the same.” she stared at him. “I just wanted to apologize for my behaviour last night. It wasn’t right of me to ask you to stay. I’m sure I made you uncomfortable and I’m sorry about that. It won’t happen again, I promise.
“Even if I liked it.” she added with a mumble.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Bucky stared at the woman in disbelief.
She apologized to him?
“Even if I liked it.” he heard her mumbling.
His eyes snapped back up to hers and they stared at each other for a while.
After what felt like hours he took a step towards her.
“There’s no need for you to apologize, Darce. I’m the one who should.”
The petite woman looked at him in confusion and he sighed internally.
“I’m sorry for staying in the first place and leaving you alone this morning.”
“No!”
Bucky blinked at her slightly raised voice, though it didn’t hold any anger just determination.
“It’s completely understandable that you left. I practically forced you to stay and I shouldn’t have. I...I-” she sighed in exasperation and looked down to her feet while Bucky shook his head.
“Believe me, doll. You did anything but force me.” he practically breathed.
Blue eyes looked up at him and he felt himself drown in them.
He didn’t know which entity to thank when he took another step as he felt a sudden rush while her eyes were fixed on his.
She licked her lips nervously and he couldn’t stop his eyes from darting to her mouth.
Darcy took in a sharp breath and he fixed his gaze back to her eyes that were now widened in shock.
A light shudder went through his body as he saw her eyes shift from his eyes to his lips repeatedly.
This gave him the confidence boost he needed as he took the last step towards her, their bodies and faces only inches apart from another.
He breathed in her scent and felt himself become dizzy by the sheer closeness.
And when she closed her eyes he finally leaned in, his lips touching hers softly. Feeling her soft plump lips on his was beyond what he had fantasized about for the past months. To his surprise she leaned right into his kiss, almost demanding him to take everything she offered.
He practically drank her in like a desperate man ready to drown. Her hands were in his hair, grabbing slightly as she moaned while he pressed her against the door.
His hands began to explore her body before he broke from the kiss and took a step back.
They both breathed heavily and Darcy looked a little dazed as she threw him a confused and slightly angry look.
“I shouldn’t have- I’m-” he tried to apologize but was cut short by Darcy slamming her lips back into his.
“Don’t stop.” she sighed into his lips as she took a breath before going in for another kiss.
He took a hold of her legs as he pressed her back onto the door, making her gasp slightly and giggle when she crossed her legs around his back.
:-:-:-:-:-:
Their little kiss had turned into an intense makeout session and Darcy was anything but complaining.
She breathed heavily as they finally detangled from another, her eyes fixed on his even though she felt slightly dizzy. Somehow they had made it to the couch with Bucky above her.
“Wow.” she said softly and grinned up at him.
Bucky only stared at her and she felt her face heating up in embarrassment.
“You’re breathtaking.” he said in a low voice, making Darcy gasp softly in surprise and turn her head to the side to escape his gaze.
She heard a soft chuckle above her and felt Bucky slowly getting up from his position, immediately making her reach out for him and sit up.
The man watched her with interest, not minding her desperate hold on his shirt.
“I…” she took a breath before looking back at him. “Are we...do you-”
Darcy huffed in annoyance at herself and heard Bucky chuckle again as he leaned closer to her. “Do I what, doll?”
She huffed again but this time because of him. “How come you’re so confident all of a sudden?”
“I just kissed the dame I fancy, I guess I’m just in a really good mood right now.”
Darcy blinked at his sudden confession. “The dame you- You like me?”
“I thought it was quite obvious that I did more than like you?” he held her eyes with an intense gaze and Darcy’s mouth formed into a silent “O”.
After a few seconds she got out of her trance and her eyes formed into small slits.
“Don’t play the smartass here! You actually thought Hailey Grant sent you those gift boxes!”
Bucky blinked at her sudden accusation. “Well...the initials fit so I thought-”
“That woman is gay as can be.” she giggled at his surprised expression. “I really thought you would get it. And I expected you to know after like..the second box.” She crossed her arms in front of her chest challengingly.
“What does H.G. stand for then?” he asked incredulously.
“Hourglass! Or even homegirl!” she huffed, her eyebrows furrowing in frustration.
“Well, how was I supposed to know!”
“I thought you’d use your brain.” she said teasingly. “But now that you do...”
:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Her eyes dropped to his lap before she looked back up, slowly moving closer to him.
“Can I?”
He gulped. “Aren’t you moving a little too fast, doll?”
Suddenly she stopped, eyes wide. “Oh my god, no! I just wanted to sit!”
Her face turned red and Bucky chuckled at her embarrassment, though his ears turned red as well.
The ex-assassin slowly moved closer and pulled her into his lap. Darcy yelped but giggled as soon as their faces were only inches away. Her hands cupped his face and he couldn’t help but lean into her warm touch.
“I’m so glad to have met you, James Barnes.”
He hummed in agreement before her lips pressed against his.
