the ship that Luz, King, and Hooty arrived back at bonesborough after their adventure with the titan trappers.
Luz didn't know how to feel about all this.
finding out that she helped Belos and now finding out that kings a titan.
Luz sighed.
this was going to be tough to explain to Eda and Lilith.
Luz remembered something as she pulled her Tamagotchi from her pocket as she was about to message Amity but stopped as she felt the ship stop moving.
Luz looked up to see the ship arriving at bonesborough.
'maybe it would be best if I just go and see amity in person before seeing eda and the others.'
Luz thought as she and king walked off the ship and onto the docks.
"are we going back to the owl house?" King asked snapping Luz out of thoughts and turned to King who was looking up to her.
"oh... um... well, I was kinda thinking of going to hexside to check on Amity and the others before we go and see Eda if that's ok with you king?"
King nodded and said "sure. why not."
Luz and King started walking over to hexside.
Luz and King used an invisibility glyph to keep them hidden from the emperors' coven until they reach hexside.
when Luz and King entered the school building they breathed heavily reappearing from the invisibility glyph.
"ok... let's find Amity, Willow, and Gus first before anything else." Luz said while gently setting King on the ground.
"alright but if you and Amity kiss then I'll act like I don't know you." King said making Luz chuckle as she and King walked through the halls of hexside.
Luz and King entered the cafeteria and saw Amity, Willow, and Gus sitting together.
Luz breathed a sigh in relief as she walked up to the table and sat next to Gus who turned to her with wide eyes saying "hey Luz and Hooty?"
Gus, Willow, and Amity looked to see Hooty in a birdhouse that was on Luz's back.
Hooty smiled and said "I'm portal hooty now."
Amity's right eye started to twice as she slowly made a spell circle making an abomination knife in her right hand and saying "stay still Luz..."
"amity?" Luz asked looking confused and cautious at the same time.
"um... I think she's after Hooty Luz, not you." Willow said looking concerned as Amity crawled onto the table and was in front of Luz who chuckled and said "if you think this is bad then you should have seen Hooty when he-"
"do not finish that sentence." Amity said looking scared at what Luz was going to tell her.
Luz nodded and quickly moved forward to hug Amity tightly.
Amity's eyes widen in shock and confusion as she let go of the abomination knife and hugs luz back tightly.
"i... I missed you sweet potato..." Luz whispered with tears coming down her face making Amity, Willow, and Gus begin to get worried.
"hey..." Amity whispered gently as Luz slowly looked up to see Amity smiling warmly at her.
"are you ok?" Amity asked gently making Luz get more scared to tell them everything.
Luz slowly nodded and said "yeah... I'm ok... i... I'm just happy to see you guys again that's all..."
Gus and Willow nodded slowly but Amity could tell Luz wasn't telling them the truth and decided to wait until luz was ready to open up to her about this.
The bell screams and rings.
Luz and Amity sigh as Amity whispered "I need to get to class..."
"I know... but I just want to stay with you all day today..." Luz whispered making Amity giggle and said "it will be ok Luz, we can do that after school today."
Amity kissed Luz's forehead before climbing off the table and following Willow and Gus as they walk to there next class.
Luz watch them leave with a scared look on her face as she thought 'they're going to hate me for helping belos and Amity's going to break up with m-'
Luz's thoughts were interrupted when she and king heard rattling from the trash bin.
Luz slowly got up from her seat as she slowly walks up to the trash bin to see Flapjack coming out of it with a half-eaten sandwich on his beak and chirping.
Luz gasped and said "Flapjack!" Flapjack chirped, drops the sandwich, and fly away.
"wait!" Luz shouted as she and King chased after Flapjack who flies through the hallway.
Luz and King follow Flapjack in the paranoratorium, hexside's closed theater.
Luz and King looked around,
Luz armed with glyphs in hand with King ready to scream at whoever hurt Luz and him.
Luz looks to see someone walking up to them until her eyes widen at seeing Hunter again.
Luz breathed a sigh in relief and said "it's just you Hunter."
"nice to see you too, hu-, I mean Luz." Hunter said gently.
"are you trying to hide from Belos too after what we... you know..." Luz whispered Hunter nodded slowly.
Luz slowly sat down on the ground with King sitting right next to her.
Hunter sighed as he sat down on the floor and asked gently "how are you doing after..."
"after finding out I helped Belos kill all the witches in the isles." Luz said with tears almost coming down her face while saying "my gosh Hunter, they're all going to hate me and Amity's going to break up with me."
"what? no way." Hunter said while waving his hand in front of Luz who was looking down at the ground feeling upset.
Hunter looked down saying "at least your not a clone of someone Belos might have killed who was also a witch hunter..."
"students, please join me in the gym for an important announcement."
Luz, King, Hooty, and Hunter heard Bumps voice from the speakers.
Luz slowly stood up saying "I better go and see what that's about, are you staying here?"
Hnter nodded slowly with Luz saying "all right. well, can King and Hooty stay here with you?"
King get up and said "but I want to help."
Luz turned to King saying "I know you want to help king but if Belos and the emperors coven finds out that you're a t-"
Luz's eyes widen as she turned to see Hunter looking at her confused.
Luz sighed and said "fine. me, King, and Hooty just found out about this ourselves so don't get all mad about it."
Hunter rolled his eyes while Luz took a deep breath and said "kingsatitantandireallyneedtogo."
Luz threw the Hooty backpack to Hunter who looked confused and bewildered at what Luz just said to him.
If he could make out what she was saying at least.
Luz quickly turned around and ran off leaving Hinter and King who was looking down to the ground upset while Hunter still looked confused and asked "what was luz talking about?"
King slowly turned to hunter with a gulp and said slightly "well..."
Luz ran in the gym where all the students are gathered into a crowd.
Luz walked up to Amity who turned to her with a smile.
Luz smiled back and asked slightly "what's going on?"
Amity looked just as confused as the others as she said "I don't know. I'm at a loss like everyone else."
Luz, Amity, and everyone turned to see Bump and a hooded figure up on the stage.
"uh, students, teachers, let me introduce the esteemed-"
"please, principle bump, I deserve no accolades." the hooded figure said before he steps forward and takes off his hood.
"hello everyone, my name is Adrian graye, head of the illusionist coven."
Luz and the other students gasped in worry but Luz was even more worried and scared as her hands started shaking slightly.
this was also noticed by Amity who turned to see Luz looking worried and thought 'why is Luz shaking? did something happen during the past few days?'
Amity turned forward as Adrian said "unfortunately, I'm not here with good news. the emperor's coven has plans to stop multitrack studies, by inducting every hexside student into a coven, before the day of unity."
Adrian said making everyone gasp in shock. 'no, no, no! there after me and Hunter! Belos is probably doing this so he can kill everyone here.' Luz thought as she turned to see Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus look at each other worriedly.
"mother titan!" Luz and everyone turned to see Matholomule rip off his sleeves and crosses his arms grumpily.
'i know this might sound hypocritical but he's such a drama queen.' Luz thought as she looked to matholomule with a deadpan glare which Matt didn't notice.
"don't worry. no one's magic is going to be sealed away. head witch graye supports us, and has come to help." Bump said while matholomule takes back his sleeves, puts them on, and crosses his arms again, embarrassed.
Luz rolled her eyes as she whispered flatly "drama queen..." Luz turned to see a teacher walking up to her making Luz start backing away in fear.
"w-what are you doing?" Luz asked sounding a little scared.
"before any coven scouts come by, I'm going to illusions of sigils on your wrists. they'll be temporary, and harmless." Adrian said as Luz was forcefully led to the stage.
"no... please no... you-you don't understand!" Luz shouted while looking scared as the memories of being inside of belos's head replayed in her head as she began to pant rapidly. She didn't know why but this made her remember the memories of Belos, hunter and she saw before Eda got them out.
'no one ever said being a witch hunter was easy. I'll do anything to save humanity from evil. I wouldn't be so judgemental if I were you.'
She remembered belos words to her as she started having an anxiety attack.
Everything felt tight for some reason, including her chest. She couldn't breathe, why couldn't she breathe!? She closed her eyes...
"Luz!" Amity shouted as ran up to the stage with a worried look on her face.
"Luz! Luz!" Luz opened her eyes and saw the golden eyes of her girlfriend Amity, who had placed her hands on luz's shoulders,
"Luz, breathe slowly! look around the room and tell me what you see."
"i... see the students of hexside... Bump..."
"okay, tell me more."
"I see the bleachers... the hats from the construction coven students... you..." Luz finally calmed down.
The room didn't look smaller to her anymore.
"are you ok Luz?" Amity asked gently.
"y-yeah... I'm ok..." Luz replied, breathing normally.
"h-how did you know how to do that?" Amity helped Luz up saying "believe it or not, Emira taught me that recently. she even joined the multitrack to be in both illusion and healing coven."
Luz's eyes widen in shock as she slowly turned to see Emira and Edric waving slightly to her showing their multitrack uniforms.
Luz smiled slightly as she slowly turned to Amity who was smiling back at her.
"well, now that's taken care of let's get back to business." Luz and Amity turned to see Adrian walking up to Luz who began to get scared again.
"don't worry, once a scout sees the fake sigil, they'll move on, and you can continue your studies in peace. now hold still." Adrian said as he rolled up Luz's sleeve and shows her wrist.
Adrian draws a spell circle in the air and aims it toward Luz's wrist. Gus saw this and began to get suspicious of this, but then he sees illusion magic brandishing Adrian's hand.
Gus realizes this is a trap.
Gus gasps and shouted "stop! don't trust him! he's hiding behind an illusion!"
Gus draws a huge spell circle, and aims it toward the stage.
The illusion dispels and Adrian is revealed to be a scout captain in disguise.
Luz fearfully shields her wrist as Amity pulled her closed to shield her as the illusion and Bump step forward and protect her.
the illusion teacher and the captain draw spell circles simultaneously, when suddenly, the real Adrian's voice can be heard.
"cut!" the teacher and the coven scout call off their spell circles in surprise.
"just... just cut." from the bleachers in the gym, coven scouts start appearing, to the shock and disturbance of the students. some coven scouts also appear on stage too, a few handling the lights, and a few handling vocals. the real Adrian then appears, in a director's seat, in the middle of the stage.
Adrian is holding a cup of coffee and looks like he's about to laugh.
"what?" luz asked looking flabbergasted at what was happening in front of her.
"all right, couple of notes." Adrian got off of his seat and walked up to a coven scout." tom, that Adrian illusion was lacking a certain, hmm? you get me?" tom shrugs in confusion.
"Severine! that was really... poor, work. you're on thin ice." Severine whimpers.
"captain, the read of your last line was just a little... mm." Adrian walked up to the captain while making a gesture.
"I don't know what that means." the guard captain said in confusion.
Adrian hands him the cup of coffee and winks.
"you'll figure it out." he teleports behind gus and grabs his arm.
"and you. well, you just ruined any chance we had of making this, something."
Luz rolled her eyes as she started to see who this guy was.
he was some kind of director like the ones making a movie or tv shows in Hollywood back in the human realm.
"you were gonna trick us into getting sigils!" Gus shouted as he attempts to escape ardian's tight grip unsuccessfully: a coven scout hands Adrian a glove with a coven sigil on it, which he wears.
"uh, yeah. I work for belos. kind of my job. but let's make sure you." the brand on his glove changes from illusion to abomination.
"can never use your little tricks again... shall we?" Adrain said his voice sounding sinister.
Luz and everyone gasp horrified.
Gus attempts to escape Adrian's grip as Adrian's glove slowly reaches her wrist.
"no, no, stay back! I said, stay... back!"
the word "back" echoes, and Gus's eyes glow blue. he projects yet another wide illusion that keeps shifting locations, confusing everyone.
"Luz!" Amity shouted as she took Luz's hand and they ran in one direction together.
Adrian looks at gus astonished and asked "how are you doing this?!"
Gus attempts to escape his grip again.
just then, hunter along with king passes through the illusion and pushes Adrian out of the way, taking us with him as they both disappear.
Luz and Amity ran through it as they attempt to escape.
eventually, the illusion steadies and they are seen in the carnival.
"whoa, what? how did we get here?" Amity asked in shock.
Luz was just as shocked as she didn't know gus could do this amount of illusion magic like this.
Luz and Amity start to look around as Amity summons her scroll.
Luz walks towards a nearby wall and touches it.
"I think it's an illusion." Luz said sounding shocked and speechless at this.
"I just got a text from ed. he, bump, and a bunch of others is in the healing homeroom. we should find our way over." Amity said before seeing a coven scout looms behind luz.
"Luz, watch out!" Luz turned around and her eyes widen in fear as she felt herself stop moving.
Amity draw a spell circle in the air and abomination goo came up under the coven scout as he was stuck on the roof.
Amity ran up to luz and asked in worry "Luz are you ok?"
"i..." Luz whispered before shaking her head saying "yeah... yeah, I'm ok. thanks Amity. come on we need to go and meet up with the others."
Luz turned around and walks off leaving a worried Amity behind watching her leave before following right behind Luz.
Luz and Amity walk to the healing homeroom with amity slowly turns to luz and asked gently "are you ok Luz? I know you froze when you saw the coven scout just now."
Luz stopped as her eyes widen in fear and turned to Amity who said gently "I won't pry if it's really bad but I'm here if you need to talk luz, like..."
Amity slowly looked down and whispered "with your dad's anniversary..."
"a... amity... i..."
"hey!" Luz and Amity turned to see coven scouts running up to them.
Amity made an abomination in front of her and Luz as it ran up to the coven scout.
Amity ran up to luz saying "let's go Luz. my abomination can hold him off for a few seconds or less."
Luz nodded and followed amity out of the room leaving the coven scouts to fight the abomination in front of them.
when Luz and Amity were out of the room Luz turned around and used a plant glyph to make a vine wall at the entrance of the room locking the coven scouts inside.
Luz and Amity turned to see the illusion teacher, Edric, and Emira open a way out of the illusion as Bump appears in front of them.
"come quick!"
Luz and Amity ran to the healing room to see the students all treating their wounds.
Luz started to feel guilty as she slowly walked up to a bed and sat down on it looking down to the ground defeated.
Amity sat next to Luz looking worried and said "i know i said this before but are you ok luz? you've been scared since you got back to hexside not to menchin your panic attack eariler." Luz flunched as she slowly turned to Amity with tears in her eyes and whispered "Amity..."
"Luz."
Luz and amity turned to see Bump and the illusion teacher walking up to them looking worried with Bump saying "i might not know what you've been through these past few days but i can tell you know something about what's going on right now."
Luz slowly looked down and whispered "yes..."
everyone in the room turned to Luz with Bump saying gently "you don't have to tell us everything, just tell us what we need to know if you can."
Luz turned to Amity who gave her a small nod then turmed to Bump with a gulp.
"belos is a witch hunter." Luz said while looking back to the ground leaving everyone shocked and confused expressions.
"we had these people called witch hunters who would hunt witches but they weren't real witches. they were just normal humans that the religious people called witches because of their religious beliefs."
"Are you a witch hunter Luz?" Amity asked in worry.
"no!" Luz shouted turning to Amity with tears in her eyes as she started to feel her body start shaking in fear.
"witch hunters aren't a thing anymore and I didn't know witches existed until now." Luz said as her voice started to crack with tears in her eyes.
Amity looked down not knowing how to feel about this.
"I believe Luz."
everyone turned to see Willow walking up to Luz and Amity saying "listen, Luz has helped us and this school over and over again. she even made multitrack become a thing which I didn't even know was possible until now."
"she helped us get out of detention." Viney said with a smile while Jerbo and Barcus smiled and nodded as well.
"she made us become better siblings to Mittens." Emira said as she and Edric smiled at Luz.
"you helped me become a better person." Amity said making Luz turn to see Amity smiling warmly at her.
Luz felt tears coming down her face as she whispered "thank you... everyone..."
Luz turned to Bump saying "the day of unity isn't about uniting the isles with the titan, it's much worse than that."
Bump nodded as he said "you better start telling us, start from the beginning."
"um... guys." everyone turned to see Skara entering the room with an unconscious Hunter with King right behind her.
"King? what happened?" Luz asked as she and amity got up from the bed.
King ran up to luz while Skara and Viney sat Hunter down on a bed.
"we were helping Gus get to you guys but the coven scouts have Gus and are delivering him to that head of the illusion coven guy." King said worriedly while seating Hooty down in front of Luz and Amity.
Luz turned to see Hunter starting to wake up and sat up from his bed in shock.
"Hunter! Hunter, it's ok." Luz said running up to Hunter who turned to her asking "Luz? where am I?"
"well, Mr, golden guard." Bump said walking up beside Luz who gulped in worry.
"we saw you being dragged around while trying to find Luz and Amity, and the flyer derby team was determined to save you. but I am not yet convinced of your innocence. where have your scouts taken Augustus?"
everyone now eyed Hunter with suspicious and distrustful looks on their faces, except Skara, Viney, and Luz.
"i-i'm not with them, I swear! I was with gus the whole time. I was trying to get him to you."
"it's true."
everyone looked to King who ran in front of Bump saying "he was just trying to get gus here. look I know you all have every reason to not trust Hunter right now but the truth is he was tricked by Belos just like everyone here."
the students all turned to each other with conflicting expressions on their faces.
Luz walks up to hunter and puts a hand on his shoulder saying "he's telling the truth. and he can help us drive head witch Graye and his scouts out of the school."
Luz looks to hunter who got what Luz was saying and said "y-yes! um, Grays said he'll be in the grm. be he will be guarded."
"that won't be a problem. willow can bust through anything." Amity said turning to Willow who smiled back at her.
"yeah, but I'll need help." Willow said walking up to amity but Matholomute walks up to willow saying "say no more, I'm on it."
Willow eyes him, annoyed.
Bump sighed and said "let's just come up with a plan."
"yes!" Skara shouted as she clapped excitedly.
"this is my favorite part!" Principal Bump slowly walks up towards the coven captain who turned to him.
Bump walks to the gym doors to see the coven captain turing to Bump.
"gym is off-limits. graye's order."
"graye maybe head witch, but I'm still principal. it'd be wise to let me through." the guard captain chuckles and aims his spear towards Bump saying "oh, yeah?"
Bump's Frewin comes out of his head and aims it towards the guard caption saying "yeah." behind him, an illusion dispels.
Hunter, Willow, Amity, Luz, and a few other students appear, with a few abominations and creatures, like puddles.
Luz stood next to amity with glyphs in her hands ready for a fight.
upon seeing this, the guard captain immediately whistles and a few other coven scouts appear behind the battalion.
"get 'em!" the guard captain shouted as the fight commences.
Luz saw Viney and Skara get thrown off of puddles by a vine suddenly wrapping around puddle's leg, causing both Skara and Viney to get thrown away.
Emira immediately runs over and starts healing Skara a coven scout attempts to attack them, but Luz pulled out an ice glyph and fired it at the coven scout just as Amity used her abomination magic at the same time as her.
the ice glyph combined with the abomination making a snow wave.
"huh... that happened." Luz said in shock.
she turned to Amity who looked just as shocked as her.
Luz stayed close to amity just as they felt wind as a wave of energy summoned by the gaurguardtain suddenly hit everyone, ending the battle.
"enough! I will NOT be cowed by a group of students!" the guard captain shouted before a mix of abomination and vines suddenly hit his face; he was then trapped in a wall.
Willow and Amity step forward as they call off their summons.
"then how about just the two of us?" Willow asked as she and Amity posed together.
"nice one!" Amity said as Luz and Hunter suddenly runs in front of them and to the gym.
Hunter kicks the door open to find the glowing orb, Adrian, and the two coven scouts lying on the floor in pain.
"make it stop. make it stop! I don't... like these memories..." Adrian said as he groaned in pain.
Amity and Willow rushed into the room.
"what's going on?"
"Gus is trapped in his head! and the others are being affected too!" the four of them suddenly hear loud thumping and turn around.
They saw an abomation tearing his way inside the gym.
the other students behind it are now trapped in abomination goo.
the guard captain enters with the controller.
"I needed a reason to play with one of these!" the guard captain said with a laugh.
the abomation advances on the trio and starts revealing its weapons.
"I really have to talk to my parents about this." Amity said as she and willow summon their palismen.
"we'll hold them off. you two save gus." Willow said as she and amity fought the abomation.
"but-how?" Hunter asked as he turned to Luz who looked just as scared and worried as him.
Luz and Hunter look at gus determinedly and run towards the orb as Willow and Amity begin fighting the abomation.
Luz and Hunter pass a groaning Adrian and sees Gus, her face buried in his knees.
Hunter's staff morphs into Flapjack as Luz and Hunter touch the orb and Flashback to some of their memories inside belos' mindscape.
Hunter struggles to fight it and eventually does, purging through the illusion and reaching gus.
Luz however was not doing a good job.
Luz started screaming in pain as she heard Belos's voice in her head.
"yes, this has gone on longer than I'd have liked. but... no one ever said being a witch hunter was easy."
"stop it..." Luz whispered with tears in her eyes as she begin to fall to her knees.
"witch... hunter? so all this time, people have been mindlessly helping a witch hunter? how could they be tricked so easily?"
"I wouldn't be so judgemental if I were you."
"Please... stop..." Luz whispered as she could feel tears in her eyes again.
Amity and Willow turned to see Luz on the ground as she was crying.
"Luz!" Amity shouted in worry.
"Amity, we need to take down this abomation first." Willow said making Amity turn to her saying "but..."
"I'm worried about Luz too but we need to stop this abomation first." Willow said looking to Amity with a serious look on her face.
Amity nodded knowing that Willow was right. first, the abomation then helping her girlfriend.
As the dome began to go away Luz heard belos say "i'll do anything to save humanity from evil."
"NO!!!" Luz screamed as she started to cry on the floor looking terrified.
"Luz!" Amity shouted as she ran up to Luz and hugged her tightly.
Willow and Gus ran up to Luz and hugged her tightly.
Hunter slowly walks up to Luz who sniffed and looked up at him.
"it's going to be ok Luz..." Amity whispered into Luz's ear trying to comfort her.
"yeah, we'll stop belos and whatever he's planning-"
"I helped him..." Luz whispered leaving Amity, Willow, and Gus in shock.
"w-what?" Amity asked in shock.
Luz turned to Amity with tears in her eyes as she shouted "I helped Belos! i... I met him when he was just Philip... I showed him the light glyph and helped him meet the Collector... I helped set everything into motion..."
Luz looked down with tears in her eyes leaving Amity, Willow, and Gus shocked at what Luz just revealed to them.
Willow and Gus turned to Hunter who nodded slowly and said "it's true. I and luz were inside of belos' mind when I overheard everything."
"Luz..." Luz heard Amity whisper her name and prepared for the worst.
but...
Luz felt Amity hug her tighter saying "thank you for telling us Luz."
Luz's eyes widen in shock and asked "you're not mad at me for helping Belos?"
Luz turned to Willow and Gus who smiled at her with Gus saying "you were tricked by Belos just like us. how would we be mad at you for that."
"yeah. we know it must have been hard for you two these past few days but know that we're here if you need us." Willow said with a smile as she and the others turned to Hunter who walked up to them.
Luz, Amity, Willow, and Gus slowly stood up from the ground with luz saying "thanks for helping Gus, Hunter."
Hunter smiled and said "it's no problem luz."
Luz turned to see King walking up to her while holding hooty in his hands.
Luz grabbed porta-Hooty and put it behind her back.
"we need to get back to eda and tell her what happened." Luz said turning to Amity who smiled and said "just be safe out there, alright."
Luz smiled and said "alright but you be safe too."
Luz kissed Amity on the cheek making amity's face turned scarlet red.
Luz turned around and walked out of the gym with king right behind her as they began to walk to the owl house.
