Thor

The first item your hand found inside the bag was something spherical and firm to the touch. It felt a little bit smaller than a golf ball, and it was perfectly smooth. Maybe a ping pong ball?

“Nah, what kind of weirdo just carries a ping pong ball around in his pocket?” You thought.

Rolling the mystery item around in your palm, you were trying to figure out who it might belong to when Tony interrupted you.

“Sweet cheeks, I know you’re digging around trying to find me in there, but technically that’s cheating.”

Taking your attention off the bag to give him a dramatic eye roll, you started pulling your hand out. When you looked back and finally realized what you were holding, you let out a squeal and dropped it back in.

“What the hell?!” you said.

“Was that...an eyeball?” Peter asked.

“Oh, that’s mine!” Thor said from where he had rejoined the group, missing one eye but having found a whole plateful of cake.

“Dude, when did you lose an eye?” Clint asked.

“My sister, Hela, gouged it out as we battled each other for the fate of Asgard, so I had to kill her. My sweet rabbit friend gave me that replacement. Might I have it back, Y/n?”

“The things I missed out on not having siblings,” Tony muttered.

You were putting your hand back in the bag to retrieve Thor’s eye when Bruce said, “Hey, it’s like Thor can’t keep his EYE off of y/n.”

Everyone turned to give him that look and he added, “You get it, cause—“

“We get it, Bruce,” Natasha said, rubbing him on the shoulder.

“Are you sure you don’t want to wash—never mind,” you said as you watched Thor pop it back in.

“Shall we, my lady?” he said, offering you his arm and a gorgeous smile. You secretly hoped your hand wasn’t wet with sweat as you placed it on his absurdly muscular forearm.

“Yes, I suppose we shall,” You said as you exited the circle, ignoring Natasha’s knowing smile as you did so.

“Well, have fun, kids,” Tony said as he flipped off the light switch in the next room and moved over to let you walk past him. “Don’t ruin the rest of us for her, Thor.”

Then, he gave you a wink and quickly shut the door, leaving you and Thor alone. Not knowing what to do or what to say, you turned your attention to the window on the far side of the room and watched the moonlight that shone through it.

“So, perhaps I missed the explanation while I was gone getting more cake, but what is the objective of this game?”

“Oh, well,” you paused, not really knowing how to explain it all to him, “you see...you and I are supposed to stay in here for seven minutes and...then we leave.”

“Is that all? Sounds easy enough, but how do we win?”

“It isn’t quite that kind of a game,” you said with a nervous chuckle, hoping at this point that he wouldn’t press the issue. You were busy trying to think about anything besides how impossibly handsome he looked with the trace amounts of moonlight highlighting his features.

You’d had feelings for Thor for...well, years now. It had started out as a simple crush on the nearly-perfect God of Thunder. But, the more time you spent with him, the more it was the little things that drew you to him...like his unintentional humor, his kindness, and the way he managed to be so formidable yet so approachable.

“While we’re alone,” Thor began, drawing your attention back to the moment, “this is for you.”

He took your hand in his and placed a small package into it.

“Oh, you didn’t have to! Wait, before I open this, it isn’t something else of mine that I let you borrow, is it?”

Thor laughed loudly and shook his finger at you before saying, “You’ve got to admit that I had you fooled this morning! The look on your face was priceless!”

“Mhm,” you mumbled as you opened your gift. Inside, you found a small trinket made of metal, wood, and leather with designs carved into it.

“It is a good luck charm. My mother gave it to me when I was just a boy. I want you to have it.”

“Thor, it’s beautiful, but I can’t accept this. It’s from your mom, and she’s....well, you ought to keep it...to remember her by.”

“I will always remember her with or without it. But, it is very important to me. That is why I want you to have it,” he said, closing your fingers around the charm and leaving his hand on yours.

“And to think I thought you forgot about me,” you whispered, trying to fight back the urge to tear up.

“I could never forget about you,” he replied, running the fingertips of his other hand along your jawline to the back of your head. Your eyes shut automatically as he pulled you in for a kiss. He was tender, but firm, as you had always imagined he would be. His lips were soft, contrasting nicely with the roughness of his facial hair. He still smelled slightly of your birthday cake which made you smile. You rested your free hand tentatively against the great expanse of his chest while you relished in the feeling of being so close to him.

Just as you thought about how you’d like this moment to last forever, it was interrupted by a knock at the door and a young voice saying, “The seven minutes are up.”

Thor rested his forehead against yours and said, “I know you said this wasn’t a “winning” type of game, but I think we managed it anyway.”

“I think we did, too.”

From outside the door, Peter continued, “Mr. Stark says if you don’t hurry up he’s coming in.”

You and Thor walked out and rejoined the group, sitting side by side this time. While the next lady took her turn, you felt something bump you on the chin. You looked down and saw Thor’s hand holding a small piece of his cake in front of your face.

“Happy birthday,” he whispered.

“The happiest,” you replied, taking a small bite with a smile.
