Chapter 13
"It looks like my Dad is back." Serena said as they pulled up on Serena's drive. They walked hand in hand up the drive and into the house.
"KICK THE BLOODY BALL." They heard someone shout.
"That sounds like my Dad." Bernie said.
"Let's go look." Serena said as they walked to the lounge door. Hello."
"Hello Love."
"Hi darling." Howard turned around and smiled when he saw Serena and Bernie were holding hands.
"Dad, what are you doing here?"
"Watching football."
"I am going to cook something to eat for Bernie and me. Have you two eaten?" Serena asked.
"Not since lunchtime."
"I'll make you both something too."
"Thank you." They both said as they watched the girls walk away.
"My Serena was holding, you're Bernie's hand did you see."
"I did. Cute wasn't it."
"Yes it was. My little girl looked happy."
"So did mine." Both men smiled before going back to watch the football.
"Do you like Beef in black Bean sauce?" Serena asked as she looked in the fridge.
"I love it."
"What about your dad?"
"He'll eat anything. Can I give you a hand?"
"No, you just sit down on the sofa over there and make yourself comfortable. There are cans of pop in the fridge. Help yourself."
Thank you. Do you want one?"
"No thanks. I'll get a glass of wine in a bit. Why don't you look for a film to watch for later."
"Okey Dokey." Bernie smiled as she stole a quick kiss from Serena before going to sit on the sofa.
"This film sounds funny, babe." Bernie said after flicking through numerous apps.
"What's it called?"
"80 for Brady."
"I've seen the trailer and it does look funny."
"Shall we watch it then?"
"Yes, sure." Serena said as she carried on cooking.
After they had eaten, Bernie and Serena got settled on the sofa in the kitchen to watch the film. Bernie immediately put her arm around Serena pulling her closer.
"I've had a really lovely day." Serena said as she looked up at Bernie.
"So have I. And that's because I've been with you." Bernie smiled as she kissed Serena softly.
"Stay."
"What."
"Stay tonight please. Not to do anything. I'm not ready for that, but I just. I don't want you to go. I want to stay in your arms. Go to sleep in your arms. You make me feel so safe."
"You are safe with me. I promise you I will never hurt you. And I won't ever let anyone else hurt you."
"So will you stay?"
"I'd love to. I might just have to drop Dad home first."
"No problem. As long as you come back."
"I will definitely come back. I will go and see if he is ready." Bernie stood up and was followed by Serena to the lounge. "Dad, I'm staying here tonight."
"Ok love."
"So do you want me to take you now?"
"Now. Golf has just started in America."
"Why don't you stay too?" Raymond said. "You can stay in the spare room. I don't think Bernie will be staying in there will she?" Raymond smirked as Serena shook her head."Thought not. Do you want to stay?"
"If it's no trouble"
"No trouble at all. That's settled then."
"We are going to bed then. We'll leave you to your golf. Goodnight ." Serena said as she walked to the sofa and hugged her Dad.
"Night love. I Love you."
"Love you too."
"Night sweetheart. Love you." Howard said as Bernie her Dad.
"Night. Love you." Bernie put her hand in Serena's again as they walked up the stairs to bed.
