Chapter 19

Siyeon fidgeted in her seat, hands folded on her lap as she stared at the intricate rug on the floor under the seats.

“Why wasn’t she there?” Her therapist whispered.

“I got sick… so she stayed home with me and sent Yubin instead…” Siyeon admitted. “I’m sorry for messing everything up… I…”

“Stop.” The detectives let out a groan, causing one to slam his fist down on the table and startle the young woman. “This isn’t getting us anywhere. Why aren’t you helping us?! Convenient you got sick,” he glared.

“I didn’t mean to get sick!” Siyeon shouted.

“Right. You’re just protecting her. I told you she was a waste of time.”

Siyeon could feel the tears brimming her eyes. Nothing was going right the past few weeks and she just wanted to go home. Go home and be with her family.

“Why not allow one of them into her therapy session?” The calmer detective asked.

“Then they’ll know,” The therapist groaned. “Know that Siyeon is doing this.”

“They’re going to find out sooner or later.”

“No they won’t. Dong… Dong would never guess it was me,” Siyeon whispered. “Can I please?” She frowned while gesturing to the door behind her.

“Not yet. When do you see Dong next?” The detective asked.

“I don’t know… Bora has to set it up for me. I’ll… I’ll find out and tell you next week,” She sighed.

Minji let out a sigh, sitting in the car after running to the store to pick up a few things while Siyeon had her therapy session. She wasn’t sure why the girl needed it, she seemed fine, but according to Bora, she was a lot worse off than what she put out.

Crying at night, screaming for her sisters in the middle of her episodes… She had long term fear paralysis that caused her to completely shut down and need to be helped.

It made sense why Bora would capitalize on that when the detectives came. Saying how Siyeon needed to be around people who could help her start to live a normal life again.

Except her life was never going to be normal. Not with them at least.

The sounds of a car door opening and shutting dragged her out of her thoughts, looking over to see the dark haired woman in the passenger’s seat next to her. Her dark hair was something to get used to again. For a while Siyeon had blonde hair and looked amazing in it. Now she looked strikingly beautiful with her dark hair.

“Everything okay?” Minji frowned.

“Fine,” Siyeon mumbled.

“Same time next week?” Minji asked, watching her nod her head. “Okay,” She sighed.

It was quiet during the long drive. The soft music playing from the radio was always welcoming but Siyeon’s mind was elsewhere.

“Unnie… Did… Why do you have Yoohyeon?” Siyeon finally asked. She had been wanting to ask why they allowed the younger woman into their relationship.

“Well… It’s not your situation… she just wants to live a comfortable life and do what she wants… So in exchange for services… She can do that,” Minji answered casually.

“So she’s like a prostitute?” Siyeon frowned.

“No, she’s a sugar baby. You know this.” Minji glared.

“But I don’t get it.”

“It’s always been just us. Me and Yubin. Living together and being married,” Minji sighed.

“Is there a problem with just you two? Was there something missing?” Siyeon asked.

“Not in the slightest… we just… want more…” Minji trailed off. “More things that… Yubin wanted to do… while I didn’t.”

“Did you know this? That she wanted to do more?”

“We talked about it for a while… It seemed like the right time. To add someone else. Before all of this.” The car slowed to a stop at a red light, allowing Minji to look at Siyeon.

“What did Yubin want to do?” Siyeon frowned.

“She’s rough already as you know… She wanted someone she could have at her disposal, someone she can order around and be rougher with…” Minji explained.

“She had Dong for that.”

“Even Dongie has her hard limits,” Minji chuckled. “Yoohyeon has soft limits. And Yubin is very, very good with her. Gets everything out with her so she can be soft with me,” Minji smiled.

Siyeon looked over, seeing the warm smile and thoughtful eyes. She hated being the reason why Minji wasn’t ever going to see her wife again. But she did want to go home. She didn’t want to see these people ever again. Yes, she would miss the warm moments with Bora and Minji, but she was over it.

When they got home, they were surprised to see Bora pacing on the phone, shouting at this point before they were able to take their shoes off.

“No, you listen to me! It’s an unjust charge!” She shouted. “You can’t just throw arson in there if she never committed it!”

Minji had a worried look plastered on her face, knowing exactly who she was talking about.

“I don’t care if her little men did it! Find them and arrest them and try them for arson. Don’t tie that charge to her! That’s file padding and you fucking know it,” she growled.

“File padding…?” Siyeon frowned.

“It’s a loose term,” Minji shrugged. “Taking other charges from other files and cases and throwing them into your case so everything is in your favor. Very illegal and you can lose everything,” she sighed.

“Oh…” Siyeon nodded before escaping the living area.

She didn’t go far, deciding to stay by the door in case she heard more talking. She did and she wasn’t sure what any of it meant.

“Who are you going against?” Minji asked.

“The assigned prosecutor right now is an asshole,” Bora grumbled. “He’s trying to get Yubin for every crime under the sun because she’s Dong’s right hand. Accomplice, accessory, assault, and now the latest is arson. She didn’t commit arson and honestly I don’t know how to get her off with half the sentence…” She frowned.

“What are they thinking…?” Minji whispered.

“There’s talks of the death penalty at this point. She’s a trained assassin Minji… her father was just an arms dealer… I’ve literally gotten over my head with her,” she sighed. “I’m going to try but I really… really can’t guarantee anything…”

Siyeon felt her stomach drop. She didn’t know they would kill Yubin. She just thought they would arrest her and call it even. Not kill her…
