Cecila's are our Favourate - Venbara

It was that magical time of year again in Mondstadt. The breeze blew softly and carried an almost soothing musical tune along with it. The city of freedom was beautifully decorated with light blues, whites, and flowers. It was Windblume.

Lovers gathered together to share their adoration for one another. Friends got together to share stories of the past, and even some animals were feeling the love this year.

Venti waved goodbye to the traveler and their floating companion as they left him to drink at Angels Share. Normally he would try and hang around more but since they had friends from another nation visiting, he chose to allow them to spend the festival with them.

This also meant he could keep a certain Deaconess from having to work on such a day as the year before.

Venti continued to take a sip of his drink as he basked in the afternoon sun. His eyes watched the people of his beloved nation mind their own business at his favourite time of year.

“I’m so sorry I’m late!” A soft voice called, catching the bard's attention. “Took me a while to finish my jobs for the day but I’m free now.”

He smiled brightly and lifted his glass to greet the young women. “And here I thought the darling Deaconess would never be late for a date.”

Barbara couldn’t help but roll her eyes and cross her chest. “This is not a date, you promised to walk around Mondstadt with me for the festival and go pick the flowers for Barbatos.”

“That is a date.” Venti winked, enjoying seeing the blush that spread over Barbara's face from the realisation of what today was. “Come on, let’s go. Unless you want me to drink more~”

“Let’s go.” She grabbed his cape and dragged him out of the chair. “You can’t get drunk!”

He only chuckled, leaving the now empty drink on the table as he followed Barbara. There were many events being held around Mondstadt, the pair went to the station outside the walls and first participated in the musical one. Even if it was just Venti playing and Barbara listening.

Barbara closed her eyes as she listened to him play beautiful music on his lyre. His music always made her smile, just something about the music sent chills through her.

“You’re amazing, Venti.” Barbara sighed in awe as he came to an end, she clapped her hand for him alongside everyone else around them. “Wish I could play like you.”

“With my teaching, you’ll get there.” He smiled gently, placing the lyre in her hands before moving behind her. “Now, I’m going to guide your hands okay?”

Barbara blushed bright red, she had made eye contact with Lizzie who only smiled before looking away. “I-Venti I don’t know…”

“Come now, you’ll do great. I promise.” He smirked before slowly leaning her into the song. She wasn’t too bad, and once he thought she could play by herself, he shifted his arms to be around her waist.

“I’m doing it! I’m actually doing it!” She beamed with delight, ignoring how her heart sped up as she felt his arms around her waist.

“Told you.” He smiled before letting her go. “Shall we continue?” Venti waited for her to hand the lyre back before taking her hand softly. He was pleasantly surprised at how she reacted, it was like this was normal for them now.

Granted he had been holding her hand in small doses in the lead-up to today, but he wanted her to be his Windblume.

The pair continued to enjoy each other's company and partake in the Windblume activities around the city. They ate, they sang, and they took pictures together until they ended up at Starsnatch Cliff.

Barbara picked a few Cecila flowers, she pulled a pale blue ribbon out of her pocket and wrapped the picked flowers with it. She really wanted the bouquet to be pretty as it was her offering to Barbatos after all.

“Why do you think these are his favourite?” Venti asked as he waited for her to be done so they could he’d back. He needed to pick up his bouquet from Flora to give to her.

“The wind always smells like Cecila’s, I also believe he sent me one with the breeze when I was sad once. They are also the prettiest flowers in Mondstadt, it’s why they are my favourite as well. They are yours to no?” Barbara turned to face the bard, holding the flowers carefully in her arms now.

He nodded his head in agreement. “They are my favourite, now come on let’s get you back so you can offer them.” Venti was sad that both her arms were wrapped around the flowers, he had been so happy being able to hold her hand all day.

“Just, let me…” Barbara shifted the flowers before interlocking her fingers with his. She blushed deeply and looked away, she also loved holding his hand all day. “Felt odd not…”

Venti only smiled before giving her hand a small squeeze, “my hand was very lonely indeed.”

The pair walked back into the city of Mondstadt together, taking their time to stroll up to the statue of Barbatos. Venti reluctantly let go of Barbara's hand and watched her closely.

The young woman knelt down and gently placed the flowers at the base of the statue before she clapped her hands together in prayer.

He looked away for a moment, it was always awkward for him when people prayed in front of him. But Barbara’s prayers were never selfish so hers he didn’t mind.

“Thank you for today Venti. I appreciate you spending the day with me.” She smiled as she stood herself back up and dusted her dress off.

“You make it sound like today is over Babs” He chuckled before grabbing her hand and pulling her along with him.

“W-wait! It’s not?” She was puzzled, the aim of today was to join in the festival and grab flowers. Which they did.

Venti didn’t reply, he just continued to walk until they got to the fountain by Good Hunters. “Wait here.” He then ran off before she could even reply.

Barbara crossed her arms and huffed softly. He was being weirder than normal, why would he just leave her?

It didn’t take long before he came walking back up the stairs again, however, he now had one hand behind his back. “Sorry, I needed to collect something.”

“And you couldn’t do that with me because?” She tilted her head to the side, however, she uncrossed her arms now he was back. A little less annoyed now.

“Because these are for you.” He pulled the bouquet out from behind his back. His heart leaped when he saw her smile. “I know you really like Cecila’s but I wanted to make it extra special so I managed to get my hands on some seeds from Sumeru and so, you have Padisarah’s as well.”

Barbara took the bouquet softly in her hands before holding it up to her nose. “They smell wonderful…”

“Happy Windblume Barbara… I…” Venti suddenly found himself tongue tired. Something that has never happened to him before.

“Yes?” She asked softly, taking a step closer to him. Her sweet smile remained on her face as she came to the realisation about what was happening.

“Will you be my Windblume…?” He mumbled softly and looked away as he spoke. Archons this was embarrassing, he was Barbatos! And yet this woman made him this way.

“Only if you’ll be mine.” Barbara giggled before kissing his cheek softly.
