In which Midget decides to be forgiving
Midget growled angrily as his human clipped a cone thing around his neck. Midget didn’t know what he had done wrong. He had just been cleaning himself! He always cleaned himself! Why was he getting in trouble now? He really wanted to lick the stitches on his tummy.
“Sorry buddy, but if you didn't want the cone of shame you shouldn't have been licking those stitches,” His human patted him on the head. Midget flattened his ears. He left the lab. He was going to sulk.
“Aw look who’s in the cone of shame,” Jax yipped, and pranced around Midget. Midget hissed and swatted at him.
“Yikes! Be nice!” the pit bull barked and took a few steps back. Midget lashed his tail and kept walking. The dog was much larger than him, and not even done growing, but Midget had made it very clear that he was the boss, and that this was his house. He wasn't going to take crap from the pup.
“you know just cause you’re pissed doesn’t mean you can be mean to Jax,” Sapphire scolded. She didn't like it when the cat got snappy with the puppy.
“I’m not the one being mean,” Midget hissed and flattened his ears. Sapphire cocked her head sceptically.
“Well you shouldn't take your anger at your human out on the Jax. It’s not fair.”
The cat quit glaring, and perked up. A mischievous look came across his face.
Oh dear. Sapphire feared what horrible idea she had just put in the cat’s head. She hoped he would handle it like a normal cat and just shun Tony. Sadly Midget was a cat who saved people, and adopted birds and puppies. Midget was not a normal cat. She feared what revenge he had just thought up, and if Tony was smart he should be afraid too.
Midget had a plan. He wasn't going to deal with this cone shame, and he was going to teach his human a lesson. The cat returned to the lab. He noticed Sapphire following from a distance. Hopefully she wouldn't try to intervene.
“Hey Midge,” his human greeted him happily. He was seemed so happy to see him, “sorry about the cone of shame bud, but you’re not allowed to lick your stitches cause they might get infected.”
Midget’s human looked down at him with nothing but fondness and love. Midget stopped in his tracks. His fuming anger eddied away. He looked from his human to the beakers on the shelf he had been planning on knocking over. He remembered how freaked out his human had been when he had gotten sick from accidentally eating glass. His human would never do something just to be mean. Midget didn't like the cone, but he had a feeling that his human had reason behind making him wear it. Tony sat down on the floor.
“come here buddy,” He patted the ground calling Midget to him. Midget cast one last glance at the beakers that he wanted to knock over, and then he went to his human. He didn't need revenge. It wasn't worth it. He loved his human to much.
