The Park
Kel ended up at the park.
It was cold, kel was in his basketball gear. He hoped he wouldn’t freeze.
Kel didn’t know what to think, do, or say.
After all, everyone said he couldn’t think for himself.
His brother, who he looked up to, and looked after him, had wished him to kill himself. His best friend was locked away in a lonely home. His other friends either bully him or avoid him. The other one was dead.
Kel had nobody. His mind went back to his birthday. Sitting on the floor with a slice of hard homemade cake and a small present while his brother was sleeping, his parents were out, and he was sure his friends all hated him. His birthday of all days.
He was sure his friends were just pushing through. It was just a month ago after all. She had waited through all of everyone else’s birthdays, why couldn’t she just wait until after his?
No.
He was being selfish.
‘As always’.
‘It should’ve been you instead of her’.
The words were ringing in his head like a threat. No. Kel needed to be there for his friends. Who else would be after all?
He put on a (fake) smile and headed to their secret hangout, sat against the tree and cried, for hours.
He got back home at 11:30pm.
