New Beginnings are Never Entirely New Not For Me
Oliver loads up the car. One girl and dozens of suitcases. He could question all he wanted but the truth is he’d rather ask the question he truly wanted the answers to. Why waste it on trivial information? He was sent to pick up her stuff an hour away, Getting it out was the easy part but getting it in was a little tricker.
Oliver knew by this point when to ask and how to ask questions to his employer. And there hasn’t been a question pressing on his mind until today. He wanted to know what made her flee so quickly. Why in the middle of the night? Why three weeks earlier than the agreed-upon date? She called for him to come to pick her up, and he found her on the highway. “ I need to leave, get out as soon as I can”. Was the only thing she had said. Oliver worried for her, every day since he first met the eldest triplet. He never quite understood why the Park endured all the pressure put upon her. That was the one question he knew he could never ask.
He headed back to the hotel he left Penelope at. Hoping she wasn’t asleep yet. To get on the road now. No one needed to question where he went in the middle of the night with no notice, what she had been doing, where she was going. “under the wraps mission” as she put it.
It was 3:09 am now. Oliver pulled into the hotel’s parking lot and headed up, hoping to just grab Penelope and be off. A quick trip she has told him it would be and in the morning, back into the arms of his beloved wife.
'Darn it'
He headed to the front desk hoping to get any clue where she went. The man at the front desk pointed in a direction. And Oliver followed. He walked into every store still open, but it being 3 am only a limited amount of bars and clubs were open now. He walked down looking from bar to club, he knew she had to be in one of these. He saw a girl, blowing fire out of her mouth, laughing so hard that her head was thrown back, her favorite party trick. It’s been a while since Oliver heard her laugh like that. Nonetheless, he headed in, picked her up, and walked out.
Penelope was never someone to party but when she did, she did it until she couldn’t. His only task was to drop her off and help her unpack. Her orders and she hated when they didn’t stick to the schedule.
“Hey I was having fun”
“I told you to stay in the hotel room”
“Entertaining myself? You couldn’t possibly think I was going to listen. There’s no harm done. We can head down to ‘normal live city’ right now. Relax Oliver. I am not dumb. In this city, no one knows me. I don’t need protection here. Just company.”
“Fine.”
“Don’t be so uptight Ollie”
“Don’t make me worry Penelope".
“Why are you worried? Because I called you. Are you supposed to be on call 24/7? At my beck and call?” Penelope can see Oliver Isn’t backing down.
“I need to leave. I just finally realized what has been in front of me for such a long time, everyone has been lying to me."
“And I decided to stop lying to my parents about where I have been for the past month.”
“Okay.”
“I'm gonna get some sleep. Wake me when you get hungry.
