Drabble 9 - When She Loved Me by Sarah McLachlan
Bailey and Crystal, start to end
Bailey spent every moment with her grandmother.
She did not grow up with her parents. She grew up with her grandmother. Mother died young. Father, too busy at work.
She loved no one more than her grandmother.
When Crystal was happy, Bailey was happy. When Bailey was sad, so was Crystal.
That was how she knew her grandmother loved her just as much.
They went through it all. Summer, Winter, Fall—
But as years went by, Crystal began to drift away.
She's too old now, they'd say.
But Bailey had hoped…
When Bailey came back from college, Crystal greeted her with a smile and held her.
It was like she was a kid again, when she was loved.
Bailey ignored how this could be their last moment.
