Trespasser
Where the fuck is Aizawa when you need him, Kaori brooded.
Answer is: not here, instead they had a substitute teacher she had a theory had never substituted in a hero class before. Currently ‘mister Hanso’ was arguing with Bakugou who refused to take down his feet from the bench. Arguing, and clearly and very desperately losing. Iida didn't help either as all he really did was wave around and state a bunch of school rules they were breaking. The fact that everyone else wasn't exactly doing what they were supposed to either wasn't helping keeping the volume down - surprisingly enough Bakugou wasn't yelling for once however but kept to growling so Kaori supposed that was something positive. I really should have brought my noise cancelling earphones, she sighed and with a frown found her gaze going outside the window. Her hand reached towards her wrist and she felt the familiar feeling of the quirk cancelling bracelet.
She had gotten them from Aizawa after that time she had gotten severely overwhelmed by her own quirks ability to telepathically feel others emotions. It was too weak to cancel her whole quirk but as long as she wore them it would be enough to block her telepathy. Without them she would probably have actually killed her whole class by now if she had to not only be bothered by their noise but hormonal feelings as well.
“Oy who the hell is that?” Bakugous voice burst her bubble of thoughts and her attention snapped back to where she was actually looking. She had been too caught up in her head for her eyes to have registered what they were seeing but as the class’ attention gradually all turned outside Kaori felt more and more how her usual facade of calmness started to crack. No fucking way.
“Who is that?” Mina put her face to the window to get a closer look of the person currently waving from a tree branch on par in height with the classroom.
The boy had brown skin and unruly brown hair and was dressed in a dark blue t-shirt and orange cargo pants. You couldn't see it from this distance but Kaori knew his face well: Orange eyes like the fruit and a constant boyish grin on his face. She also knew that he was wearing a certain necklace made of a leather string and an amethyst. Identical to the necklace Kaori was currently wearing underneath her own shirt.
“Wait who is he waiving to?” Hagakure said but before anyone could answer Mina had opened a window and stuck out her head. She cupped her hands over her mouth to help carry her voice when she yelled to the boy in the tree: “Hey Mr Trespasser who are you waving to?”
The boy stopped waving and yelled back: “She knows who she is but can you send Haruka Kaori to the window?”
“Did he say Kaori?” Mina leaned back from the window again and Kaori could feel the stares she was receiving. “Uhm… Kaori, do you know who that is?”
Before Mina finished the sentence Kaori had stood up from her bench and walked up to the window muttering under her breath: “I'm going to kill him”
Midoriya who heard her gave her a minorly frightened look. “Dont think thats allowed by the law, i'm afraid. But who is he exactly?”
“No one” she reached the open window and climbed halfway through the frame, a slight breeze blowing through her purple hair making it sway. “Hey Iida, the school bell rang so it's okay if i leave the classroom right? I wont get a mark for being absent?”
Iida hastily pushed his glasses further up his nose and shook his head. “No, the teacher even left so it's fine. But what are you-”
“Okay thanks”, Kaori's body became lighter and her hands emanated a faint glowing aura of magenta. Just before her feet left the windowsill, Bakugou called after her.
“Oy Crowgirl you better come back fucking soon! If you even think about leaving me to cook dinner alone I'll blow your head off!”
Kaori rolled her eyes. “Sure thing blondie”
And she jumped.
Then, instead of falling to the ground two stories down, she floated in the air. When she first found out that her telekinetic abilities applied to herself as well it had taken a while to work out her balance and agility in the air. Now it was like her second nature, though she still preferred keeping her feet on the ground. Lucky I'm always wearing tights, she thought, thinking of how the majority of girls at UA wore their school uniforms without even shorts under their skirts. It may not seem as fashionable as most of her outfits but she gotta hide the tats somehow even if that meant wearing long-sleeves and tights all year round at school.
“Hey Haru, I'll take your bag back to the dorms!” Kaminari shouted out the window. Kaori turned around and gave him a thumbs up as recognition before continuing ahead towards the boy in the tree. It turned out to be farther away than she anticipated but it still took her a mere few seconds to get there. He had climbed down to the ground again after seeing her heading his way. She landed gracefully in front of him with her arms crossed. “And what the fuck are you doing here?”
He smiled gleefully. “Why hello to you too”.
“Hama, you realise you are trespassing at a prestigious school for heroes-in-training that are in constant preparation for villain attacks?”
“Yup”.
Kaori shook her head. Only Hama could speak so lightly about trespassing at UA still in the afterwake of AFO breaking out of prison, especially after what happened last time he got out. “Whatever, I know even you wouldn't be so stupid just because you missed me. Found anything out at the cafe?”
Hamas face turned serious and despite them definitely being the only ones in the area he leaned in closer to whisper. “Yeah you know how especially the BB-duo likes to hang out at Crumbs? I was serving them again this morning and as I was taking their dishes I heard them talking about something quite worrying”.
Kaori's brows furrowed, when it came to how Hama described “bad” information there were two kinds: Worrying, and concerning. Concerning was what he used to describe a minor inconvenience, worrying on the other hand was far more serious.
Hama kept going after another look around the yard. “All for one and the Shigarakis League of Villains don't seem to plan on teaming up anytime soon unlike last time. I guess they really did split ties. But rumours about All for one being on the lookout for a certain new powerful quirk to add to his collection has arisen”.
“But that isn't anything new though? All for One is always looking for new quirks to take away”, Kaori put in but hama shook his head.
“No this is different from him just snatching it whenever an opportunity arises. According to the rumours he has set his eyes on a specific quirk that is meant to help him deal with not only Shigaraki but also the heroes much easier. It's a powerful one, Kaori, and everyone knows that such quirks are pretty much only found at schools like UA - especially UA. This time he has a target set”.
Kaori went cold inside. Last year Bakugou were kidnapped at a training camp for similar reasons like what Hama were describing, but something in Hamas' voice told her that this time it was much worse. She did her best to hide the worry on her face. “What about the League? Shigaraki must be out for revenge now that AFO is out, these rumours could lead right to him. No way he would pass up such an opportunity”.
“Your right”, Hama confirmed. “But for whatever reason - even though personally I believe he is, just behind the scenes instead - Shigaraki doesn't seem to be searching for AFO at all”.
“Well you're usually right about this but why would he hide it?” Kaori asked. Luckily Hama wasn't done talking yet so she got her answer soon enough. Always so thorough.
“That's the worrying part: It seems that Shigaraki is trying to get to whoever AFO is after first. It's like some kind of high school drama of two girls fighting over who can date a specific guy first, but much more violent”, Hama leaned back into normal position, finally done speaking so quietly. His orange eyes still looked on edge even though the rest of his body language seemed relaxed. “So petty when you think about it, I've never met Shigaraki before but is he actually as childish as they say?”
It sounded like he was making fun of the situation but Kaori knew full well Hama was still just as serious as before. He just couldn't bear the tension. As one who had had the misfortune of meeting Shigaraki before, actually a few more times than she would like even if it wasn't direct, Kaori had to agree with Hama. “I haven't fought the guy directly before, even less talked to him. But I know for a fact that he acts as spoiled as my brother, just with a lot more rage. There was one time when I got close without wearing my bracelets. All that hatred overwhelmed me: I just bent right over and puked. His desire to destroy is simply unreasonable. Even for a guy like Shigaraki. I've never felt anything like it”. And I definitely don't want to again.
“Considering how well you control your telepathy even without the quirk cancelling bracelets that sure says something”, Hama said with “Damn” written all over his face.
Kaori rolled her eyes. “But back to the main subject. If Shigaraki and AFO are after the same quirk that means there is a high possibility of an unsuspecting student going to one of the hero-course schools being the target. It's only a question of time before AFO goes after them, unless Shigaraki finds out who it is and acts first”
“Yeah but there's one more thing, something i didn't get an answer on”, Hama said and Kaori turned her pale purple eyes to him”, We don't know if AFO is aware of the identity of the quirks owner either”
Kaori caught on to his suggestion. “He might still be looking for the user”.
“Exactly. I'll try to find out more at Crumbs”, Hama said and put on a red cap over his brown locks. “As long as we figure out the quirk before them the identity we might be able to get ahead still”.
Kaori and Hama bumped fist. “Good luck, Kohaku”
Hama dramatically put a hand over his heart and pretended to have been shot. “You make it sound like a final goodbye when you say it like that Kaoriiii”
“Oh shut up, dumbass.
“Come visit me at Crumbs this weekend?”
“Just leave you idiot”
“Wondeful, see you then!”
And he took off running towards the entrance gates. Kaori knew he wouldn't get caught by security, he had done this too many times now for that type of mistake. Plus even if he were noticed he would never let them catch him. Still, it wasn't often Hama left her feeling so anxious.
