The last thing on your stupid bucket list

Harrow's presence was the only thing that mattered. She was sitting on Kiriona's hip, her fingers deep in her chest wound, pulsing with life that warmed up her dead body.

The necromancer's face paint and hair wretched from blood sweat and her breathing was heavy.

Harrow pushed her hand deeper into the wound. It hurt although the corpse prince welcomed the pain. This kind of sensation belongs to the living, after all.

The next moment her necromancer got to pray, calling out many names of the same deity. The line began with the name "Beloved" then came "Alecto, Nona" and ended with a word which means soil and sounds like "birth".

When Kiriona was able to look up Harrow's eyes were like the emperor's eyes, it was almost impossible to find her original irises in that darkness. Thalnergie filled up the corpse, wounds closed up and healed. Kiriona almost passed out at that very moment as her new and strong heart was getting to beat.

Every inch of her hurt like a never-ending dance of lightning under her skin.

Warm and bloody fingers smoothed her face then her neck only to find their way to the freshly healed skin, over her heart.

As she opened her eyes Harrow tried to slowly withdraw her hand so Kiriona covered that with her own.

Harrow was with her, and it was the only thing that mattered.

"Should we light a candle for your girlfriend or something?" Asked Gideon to break the silence.

" I am only her handmaiden…"

"Kinky…"

Harrow made a sad, weird noise.

" Gideon, I'm serious. I almost ruined everything, but she is kind, so she helped me despite my hubris. "

"Your what?"

"I was a stupid vestal, who forgot her place. I wanted to do this all alone, resurrect you by myself. It was one of the two things I wanted to do before we…"

Harrow didn't finish the sentence but Gideon had already had an awful suspicion. She had seen her talking to Paul a lot lately and she didn't like what her necromancer suggested.

Kiriona wasn't able to sleep or have nightmares but she had imagined the scene a million times: Harrow and her ice queen pull a Paul. Creating someone new, probably a new God for the Nine Houses.

Leaving her all alone again.

She didn't know what to say or if she even had the right to say anything.

"What is the next?"

She heard herself ask instead.

Harrow looked puzzled and a little bit afraid, so Gideon asked again.

"What is the last thing on your stupid bucket list, Nonagesimus?"

Gideon's newly constructed heart skipped a beat as Harrow leaned forward to kiss her. The necromancer’s hands grab Kiriona's bloody white shirt to pull her closer.
