Rewrite
hey y'all!
so...
it's been a while.
there aren't enough characters that this site will let me write that will be able to express how sorry i am for making you guys wait so long. i really am sorry, life just happens, y'know? and i'm going to be honest with you guys, i've been going through some really tough times - they aren't necessarily bad, but it's just tough. some bad things have happened (but yay for therapy!) and some good things have happened, like ya gurl skipping her junior year and officially becoming a senior at 15! (pls send help)
to be fully transparent with you, the reason i initially stopped writing wasn't necessarily because i was burned out or lost interest - i actually have the next chapter ready to go - i just didn't like the way i wrote this. i'm not changing the story by any means, but it just was a cumulation of not having a beta (we die like men) to help edit and not taking more time for each chapter that caused me to dislike it. so, what happens when you don't like something you wrote? well...
you write it again.
i'm giving this chapter a few days to sit just so people get the message, but in a few days this version of checkmate will be deleted and another story with the same title will go up. and for all y'all who have read the chapters that are already up, i will be posting the rewritten chapters fairly quickly since they are easier to write in comparison, but i do want to forewarn you that once we catch up, my upload schedule will be pretty slow lol. i've kinda been neglecting to talk about it because i've felt pretty guilty for making you guys wait, and i've been trying to push them out quickly, but it just ain't flying. i'm not sure just how long i'll take per chapter yet, but once i figure it out I'll let you know.
also, my characterizations have been...kinda cringe ngl. i applause y'all for reading it lmao (I know it isn't horrible, i'm just a harsh self critic)
