Chapter 3
Peter’s POV
As I sit on the edge of the building, I think about what I should do next. "Maybe I could go to see if Aunt May is here." I flip off the building and start swinging towards Queens. As I swing, I notice people pointing at me and smiling. "They probably were worried that the heroes were all gone." I sigh and continue to swing. I finally get to my apartment, and I land on the side of the building, crawling along it until I reach my window. Sliding it open slowly, I casually enter through the window. I remove my suit and put it back in its hiding spot before moving to put on a pair of pants and a shirt. Once done, I leave my room and look around the apartment. “Aunt May?” I call out, searching for her.
She wouldn't ignore me like this, and I know she's not working right now. "Calm down, Peter; May could have just taken an extra shift at the hospital; you are worrying for no reason; just check the kitchen counter for a note; she may have even left pizza money for later; it'll be okay." I take a deep breath before moving for the kitchen; I'll check here first. Upon entering, I noticed the kitchen looked so clean it was like no one had used it in a while. That's odd. "I thought my room was looking clean, but this is another level. Did she do this before she went for her shift?" I walk towards the counter that usually has the note; it's empty, and the notepad isn't even out like she forgot to finish writing it (she does that sometimes). "This is not good. She never forgets to let me know like this."
I ran from room to room calling out for her, and by the end of my search, I was in tears. "She’s not here; is this death? Am I really dead??" I sink into the couch crying. "At least she didn't die like me if this place is the afterlife she would have been here." I think as I wipe my tears away, but am I even dead? After a while, I slowly move around my apartment, grabbing extra web fluid and a bag. After I get everything I need, I jump out of my window and head towards the facility. "Maybe someone will be there," I think, swinging through New York to the compound.
Tessa’s POV
I am lying on the bed of my new quarters and staring at the ceiling. "What now? I mean, he does not know my abilities entirely, but then again, do I?" I sigh and sit up, moving over to my bag. I grab my gun and holster, attaching it to my leg. I grab my old navy green jacket and head into the bathroom, taking off my sunglasses. I look at my eyes in the mirror, sighing when I notice that they are red; my eyes like to change color, and the sunglasses are meant to hide it. I think it could be connected to my abilities, but I don't like it enough to explore it. I reach into my bag and grab a case with colored contacts inside. I slip them in and look into the mirror, pleased to find they are now blue, much better, and more natural.
Let's go I exit my room and head down the hall looking for Nick. I walk into the main room and discover Nick talking with what looks to be a guy in spandex. “Uh…..Hey?” I say confused but alert with my hand on the grip of the gun. The person turns to reveal a boy with light brown hair tossed to perfection and amazing brown eyes.
“Hey,” he says waving, and I wave back. “Who are you exactly?" I ask my hand still on the gun. “I’m Spider-Man,” he says, smiling. It's a huge smile, cute and full of teeth. “I know that. I mean, like, what is your name?” I ask a little annoyed. "Oh, uh, I am Peter Parker,” he says cautiously, unsure if that was a good idea. “Well nice to meet you, Peter; I am Tessa Virtue,” I say, holding out my hand for him to shake while taking my other hand off my gun. He shakes my hand and moves to sit on the couch, wincing slightly. "So, Fury, what do we do now?” I ask watching Peter confused as to why he winced before turning my attention back to Fury as he clears his throat before he starts speaking.
“We are going to wait for more people to show; I am already sending Hill out to look for the rest of them. You two just wait here, don't get too comfortable, be ready for anything, I'll let you know if something happens.” with that we nod as he leaves the room, leaving us to chat amongst ourselves. I moved from where I was standing to sit beside him, the couch is way better than my favorite coffee shop chair. I sink in right next to him closing my eyes and sighing, letting the events of the past few hours finally kick in. “What a day,” I mutter, relaxing, forgetting Peters there. “Welcome to being an Avenger,” he replies with a slight smirk in his voice.
"So, you have good hearing.” I crack open one eye and look over at him. “and you think I'm an Avenger now?” I ask, raising my eyebrow. “I guess so,” he says, shrugging. “So what exactly can you do?” I ask, a part of me is curious to know what abilities the famous "Spider-man" has to offer, another just wants to hear him talk, I'm not against him being my friend right now. Turning to face him and propped myself up on one elbow on the top of the couch. “Wall-crawling, enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, durability, stamina, healing and agility, and spider-sense.” I nod "Cool,” he looks at me.
“What can you do?” I am shocked that he asked, but I reply, “I can shoot guns really well," and he nods, believing me. “I don’t think that's all you can do,” says Fury as he enters the room again. "Again, Nick." I really pronounce his name hard in annoyance. "Can he just let this go already? God." "I can only shoot guns and maybe a little hand-to-hand combat,” I say firmly, trying to not let all my annoyance slip out. He sighs long and shakes his head, he is also annoyed, too bad. “One day I will find out what you can do; until then, don’t lie to us, it's just rude,” he says sternly. I gulp but nod. Peter watches me curious, but he does not want to pry.
“Well, then I’m going to the gym because I assume that in a home of heroes, there has to be one.” I get up and head to the elevator, turning to look at Peter and Fury before I enter “Tschüss Idioten.” I smirk and enter, “What does that mean?” asks Peter. “Oh, nothing bye, Idiots,” she winks, and the elevator shuts on their stunned faces. “What does it mean?” he turns to Nick. “It means bye idiots.” he laughs and leaves Peter with a confused expression on his face.
